Director Vishal Mahadkar speaks up on what happened that night

What’s new: Up until now, everything was hearesay. Now Vishal has decided to speak up. He and Mohit have been friends for years. It has been hinted by the successful director that Vishal is jealous of his success and trying to spoil Mohit’s name as he is frustrated because his own career is no where on par with his old buddy.

Over to Mahadkar: “This is the exact flow of events which brought about a fight between me and Mohit at WTF, Andheri. Before the release of my film 3 AM, Leena (Tandon) and I were at at a table with a couple of friends when Mohit, his ADs and friends entered. I invited Mohit to join us. He came and stood across us. He went on to ask Leena ‘Oh you know Vishal’ to which she replied, ‘Yes, I know him longer than you’. He then went on to say, ‘Oh you should f**k him as he f**ks well’. This shocked me and I thought he must have been drunk and apologised to Leena to which she said something like ‘It’s okay, I can take care of myself’. Mohit then went on to say ‘And you know what, he has a big d**k so you should f**k him and if you don’t, I’m here,’ as he said this he unzipped the jersey he was wearing.

“At this point, I went up to him confrontationally and asked him to shut up. His reply was “Get to my level then talk to me”. That’s when I pushed him slightly which caused him to trip. All our friends stopped us then but I was hurling abuses at him at this stage.

“They then got a table at the opposite end of the pub. We sat for about 10 minutes but were uncomfortable so paid our bill and started leaving when Mohit said something I didn’t hear clearly. I hurled some abuses back at him and remember saying something like ‘I’m going to tell your wife’. We then went out and were waiting outside for my car when suddenly Mohit’s assistants came and started picking up a fight again. Being outnumbered I picked up a beer bottle that someone had and went for them. Bouncers, etc, stopped the fight outside and we got into our cars and left. I sent Udita (Mohit’s wife) a text telling her what happened and to control her husband.

“This is an accurate account of what happened and one can check the same with the CCTV footage that WTF has. Right now I am being made to look publicity hungry but if I wanted publicity I would have made this controversy as big as possible during my release as that would help the film PR! All I did was stand up for a girl who was spoken to in an indecent manner. Even though Mohit is a friend. It has been said that we all were drunk and the cause of the fight was alcohol but that isn’t true. My bill was only Rs 1700 or so, how much can four people drink in that amount? Until now, I hadn’t spoken yet in the media or given any statements, but I feel my silence is being used by Mohit's PR machinery to somehow make this my fault. To be honest, I really don’t care about the consequences now and will take him on.”

Directors Mohit Suri and Vishal Mahadkar came to blows over an unsavoury comment about a lady.

Mahesh Bhatt's proteges, Mohit Suri and Vishal Mahadkar, were at each other's throat in a Versova pub, a few days ago.

The Blood Money director Vishal Mahadkar was having a drink with Leena Tandon, one of his former assistant directors, when Mohit Suri walked in with a bunch of friends. Things took an ugly turn when Mohit spotted Vishal and Leena.

According to a source, the Ek Villain director walked up to the duo and made an unsavoury remark which made Leena livid. Buzz is, she threw her beer on Mohit's face.

Vishal then got up from his chair and held Mohit by the collar, who hit back hard. Before anybody could blink, the two were throwing punches at each other.

The fight was all set to turn bloody as the two picked up empty bottles to smash on each other's head. But the people around pulled them apart.

Confirming the incident, Vishal said: "You seem to know all the details, what else you want me to add? Jo ho gaya, so ho gaya."

When contacted, Leena said: "Look, I don't remember much. All three of us were sloshed. In fact, I would rather forget it as a bad dream," she said.

Mahesh Bhatt, who has mentored both the directors, blamed alcohol for the flare-up between the two. The young men are hot-headed and known to lose their temper rather easily. "Frankly, Mohit and Vishal fight frequently, but then they quickly make up. I think this fight will be no exception," he said.

And what about the rude comment made by Mohit which was the trigger? "I wouldn't like to comment on that. That will tantamount to taking sides. I wasn't at the scene. So, I can't be selective in my stance," he pointed out.

This is not the first brawl for the two directors. In 2011, at Kunal Deshmukh's birthday party, Mohit had blamed Vishal for the split with his then girlfriend (now wife) Udita Goswami. The argument had quickly turned to fistfight.

Despite repeated attempts to contact him, Mohit remained unavailable for comment.
