LAAL SINGH CHADDHA will close its lifetime business under 60 crore nett as its run comes to an end with the release of BRAHMASTRA. The film has just capitulated post the first week and theatrically it is a huge disaster in India. Even in overseas, it has performed badly on a huge release which was biggest ever at time of release though now BRAHMASTRA will be bigger.

Despite this dud performance theatrically there have been stories going around how distributors have lost heavily and want refunds etc. But this is mainly spread due to negativity for the film on social media and the digital world. The producers themselves released the film worldwide so there can be no one asking for money back.

The loss of the film will basically be carried by Aamir Khan in the same way loss of ZERO was carried by Shah Rukh Khan. Considering the disaster box office fate, the film has not come out that badly in terms of financial recovery as there is good revenue from other revenue sources which was not the case with films like DHAAKAD and 83 which remain biggest financial losers post the pandemic.

LAAL SINGH CHADDHA is struggling overseas barring USA/Canada. The film has collected around $6.8 million so far in 13 days and will probably close its two week total at around $7.1-7.2 million. The two weeks are of 15 days as it had an early release.

LAAL SINGH CHADDHA has held well in USA/Canada but the overall collections are sill low and these markets are an Aamir Khan stronghold. The film is still short of films like SOORYAVANSHI and GANGUBAI KATHIAWADI in USA/Canada though should beat in the long run. But its unlikely to reach the numbers of films like 83 which got huge benefit of Xmas and New Year period and THE KASHMIR FILES.

So despite a decent trend in USA/Canada, it is not an impressive performance because there were huge expectations from this film in this circuit. The rest of markets so big drops in the second weekend and a market like Gulf practically crashed and it may not even do $1.5 million here. 

Overall the film should cross $7.5m miilion as the business in USA/Canada should continue to come but the $8 million mark looks a best case scenario and expectations are almost double of what it is going to do.

LAAL SINGH CHADDHA saw a huge drop again post the Janmashtami period as it collected only 50 lakhs nett on Monday. The drop on Monday puts the film with little chance of reaching 60 crore nett.

The second week is looking to be 6.25 crore nett which is awful for a big film and that too with many holidays for Janmashtami.

The film only collected 40 lakhs nett on its second Monday and took its total to 42 crore nett. This film will do a second week of 5.25-5.50 crore nett which is again awful and it is struggling for 45 crore nett lifetime.

LAAL SINGH CHADDHA collected 1.25 crore nett apprx on its second Friday. There was not much of a drop from Thursday but it hardly matters as the collections are so low. The second Friday business does mean the film should get to 60 crore nett plus which did not look possible a couple of days back.

Still it is Janmashtami period and there can be some holiday factor as various parts of the country celebrate on different days. If the normal second Saturday growth comes, then the lifetime is looking around 61-63 crore nett for the film.

LAAL SINGH CHADDHA fell on Thursday again even though it was a holiday for Janmashtami. The collections of the for the first week are a little over 50 crore nett. The rejection of the film is at such a level that even on holidays, the collections are going down.

LAAL SINGH CHADDHA has seen huge recoveries from non theatrical sources which will go to around 180 crore but still the film will suffer heavy losses. This is the second event film to go horribly wrong after 83 post the pandemic. Theatrically it is far worse than that film but commercially less as Aamir Khan is likely to absorb some of the huge losses a bit like Shah Rukh Khan did in ZERO.

RAKSHA BANDHAN showed very limited growth on Thursday which was a holiday for Janmashtami. The film has ended the first week with a round 37.50 crore nett. It has finally caught the collections of LAAL SINGH CHADDHA mainly as Hindi circuits are far ahead of the Aamir Khan-starrer

This film will be saved by the huge satellite and digital revenue of 125 crore but only god knows how the holders of these rights will recover the money.

LAAL SINGH CHADDHA crashed out on Tuesday as it collected in the 2 crore nett range which takes the six day business of the film to around 48 crore nett. Obviously its sad to see such a huge drop for such a big event film but this drop should to make it clear to the industry that it is not negativity but content which is the reason for the failure of this film. No film if it is good or even average drops like this just because of some external factors.

The film will now be looking at an extended first week of 53-54 crore nett. There is a holiday for Janmashtami on Thursday but with collections down to such low levels, the boost will be very limited. The film has done better in the big cities of Punjab state where even the lifetime will probably beat all the original Hindi content in these cities though the circuit figure will stay below BHOOL BHULAIYAA 2 as smaller cities of Punjab and cities of Haryana are not so good.

The opposite is a state like Gujarat where the film could not even collect 10 lakhs nett on Tuesday and this is a state which must be on board today for any chance of a big number.

LAAL SINGH CHADDHA has finished its extended weekend at around 46 crore nett as collections dropped on the big holiday for Independence Day. The film in five days has done less business than what THUGS OF HINDOSTAN did in the first day and that pretty much tells the story. On top, this was a holiday period and yet, the film was unable to collect.

The film is heading for a big fall post the holiday period as the rejection is crystal clear form the collections. There is this boycott theory going the round in the industry but the rejection is due to content. The boycott may have kept some of the potential audience away but not in numbers to affect the actual fate of the film. If the film was good, then it would have risen far above such numbers.

There is no hope for the film from here and its just about where it goes in its first week and can it even reach 75 crore nett in the long run.

LAAL SINGH CHADDHA collected a poor 37.75 crore nett over its four day weekend and is likely to fall short of 50 crore nett over the its five day extended holiday period as the film got rejected across most circuits in India.

The film has done better in the cities of Punjab state like Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana among others especially the last mentioned. Here the numbers are the best post pandemic for original Hindi content and only behind KGF - CHAPTER 3 for the first weekend.

But even here other parts of circuits are not too good as a centre like Faridabad saw similar collections to RAKSHA BANDHAN and on day one it was lower than the Akshay Kumar-starrer. It shows the huge regional differences within a circuit. While the collections in this centre is similar to RAKSHA BANDHAN, there are others which are 5-6 times better. Delhi, Noida and Gurgaon have also seen better collections.

But outside these areas its an awful story with Gujarat being in the doldrums and it was doing around half of RAKSHA BANDHAN in CI on Friday and Sunday. South also has not come and Aamir Khan is normally strong here. There are excuses like a boycott being given for the failure but that is not the reason as that would have hardly affected it by a few crores. If the film was liked it would have at least picked up over the weekend and had some sort of trend be it at low collections.

LAAL SINGH CHADDHA has done fair business overseas as it grossed a little over $4 million (approx Rs. 33 crore) over its extended weekend. The three day weekend of the film was third best post the pandemic after KGF - CHAPTER 2 and '83 while the four day weekend made it the best post the pandemic but that is comparing four days against three days of other films.

The film had high expectations in overseas and the weekend number is not up to the mark in that way. Aamir Khan along with Shah Rukh Khan are the biggest stars overseas. So, for an Aamir Khan film to get a weekend which is similar to SOORYAVANSHI or '83 like for like is not good. Moreover, in overseas, there was none of this boycott thing going which is being said to be the reason of the dull collections in India within the industry and media.

The film was expected to cruise past the $10 million barrier but that now that looks a dream and it could be that the film does not even do the business of the likes of SOORYAVANSHI and '83 of $8m plus. KGf - CHAPTER 2 is the only film to cross $9 million post the pandemic.

LAAL SINGH CHADDHA showed a jump of 20% on Saturday which was just not good enough as Saturday would be the day when the high end multiplexes where it is doing its best business would really come into play but it did not really happen for the film.

It was better growth than Raksha Bandhan but that was always going to happen due to markets which LAAL SINGH CHADDHA caters to but the growth needed to be 40-50% instead of the 20% it has got. The film stands at around 27.50 crore nett after three days and if the film can improve in mass markets, then maybe it has an outside chance of 50 crore nett over its extended five day weekend.

Even if somehow the film gets to 50 crore nett over five days, it will just mean some decent response on Saturday and Sunday as the industry expected the film to be at 50 crore nett minimum over the first three days alone which itself were on the higher side as a good initial was unlikely. But still the content of the film could have carried it.

The collections are coming with a fair response to the film in Delhi NCR and East Punjab with North India (Delhi/UP and East Punjab) contributing around 40% of the all India business. The response is totally the opposite in the other major sector Maharashtra/Gujarat.

LAAL SINGH CHADDHA fell 40% on Saturday as it collected in the 7-7.25 crore nett range to take its two day total to 18.50 crore nett. The fall is normal after a holiday but the problem here is that the film did not manage to get opening day collections which pretty much means the film cannot really recover.

It was always going to need a miracle after the first day and show a strong hold on day two and these holds are difficult in the best of times. The film has faced total rejection in mass pockets as collections fell 50-55% in some circuits, and these circuits have the advantage of an extended holiday period post Raksha Bandhan.

There have been huge falls in places like Gujarat and CI which puts into question whether the film can get any advantage of Independence Day as mass pockets drive business on the big holiday. The state of UP is always strong the day after Raksha Bandhan and this film has has made gains but they are pretty minimal. 

The Delhi NCR and East Punjab area continues to drive the business of the film but it has dropped there also. It is pretty certain that the film will do better business in Delhi/UP than Mumbai circuit and the way Gujarat is going, it would be no shock if the eventual collections in East Punjab are not far off the Mumbai circuit number.

LAAL SINGH CHADDHA has collected around 11.50 crore nett on its first day. It is way below the expectations of the film but that is also because these expectations were not on the trailer of the film but due to the Aamir Khan factor who excels in this zone of a feel good slice of life film.

The film has done best in the Delhi NCR and East Punjab belt. The collections in Delhi city, Noida and Gurgaon are good and Punjab is also good but considering it is almost a Punjabi film then it should have been better in Punjab.  

The numbers from South are also decent but considering its an Aamir Khan film, they should have been higher. Aamir Khan is the biggest Hindi star in the South along with Shah Rukh Khan but the film has not really overperformed in the South markets.

The rest are pretty much poor outside select cinemas of Mumbai and Pune. The little collections that have come in mass pockets are due to the holiday for Raksha Bandhan and will drop out leaving the film depending on the metros. The film has collected better than '83 in mass pockets but that is due to the holiday.
