KRISHNAVATARAM PART 1: THE HEART has done reasonably well till date or a better way to put it is that it has found appreciation in pockets like Gujarat, Maharashtra and Mysore. This has allowed the film to hold well over 3-4 weeks. The film has collected 30 crore nett plus till date and there is also a near 2.75 crore coming the from the regional Tamil and Telugu versions with the latter having most of the contribution.

The film is based on Lord Krishna and is a Devotional/Mythological film and its devotees which take these type of films to another level when they create a wave but that has not happened here. When the trailer come out, there started a talk of a potential break out probably due as the film had some scale and more importantly the genre. But history tells when this type of talk happens, then the breakout is unlikely as the talkers are pretty much clueless.

The JAI SANTOSHI MAA's or MAHAVATAR NARSIMHA's do happen but its when no one can even imagine a breakout before release while if there is some sort of expectation however minor outside the involved parties, then it does not happen. There is an expected part two of the film which maybe can do better as this one has some appreciation but that depends on whether makers see the results of this film as good enough for a second part to do well and even recover the likely losses on the first part.

KRISHNAVATARAM PART 1: THE HEART collected 6.50 crore nett over the weekend which are fair collections for its face value but not commensurate with the costs of the film. The trend was good as it had strong growth on Saturday and consolidated on Sunday but it was at low levels. The film needs to break out over the weekdays and going into week two with a chance of collecting better than the first week.

The film was released in Tamil and Telugu on Saturday and did fair in Telugu as was it just a 30 cinema release. Yet, it picked up 13 lakhs nett with decent occupancy on the minimal shows it had. Tamil version could not collect.

DAADI KI SHAADI managed show good growth on Sunday which was sort of expected considering the zone of the film but overall collections are low. The Sunday collections mean it could hold at low levels over the weekdays. The film collected 3.25 crore nett over the weekend.

The new releases this week were DAADI KI SHAADI and KRISHNAVATARAM PART 1: THE HEART and both had dull collections as far as the opening day went. DAADI KI SHAADI collected in the 50-60 lakh nett range while KRISHNAVATARAM PART 1: THE HEART has around 1.50 crore nett which includes 35-40 lakh from paid previews held on Thursday. There was also MAIN ACTOR NAHIN HOON, which hardly had a release and collections would be less than 5 lakhs nett.

The collections for KRISHNAVATARAM PART 1: THE HEART are fine looking at the face value but the film has a good amount of money spent and they are not in accordance to that. DAADI KI SHAADI is also a film with limited face value and its a sort of film for the small screen today. Both films will see growth on Saturday but it has to be out of the ordinary. 

There was the Hollywood release, MORTAL KOMBAT II, which collected around 1.50-1.75 crore nett with better collections in the Soutern cities.

KRISHNAVATARAM PART 1: THE HEART doubled up its collections on Saturday which is good growth though collections remain low. The film picked up 2 crore nett on Saturday taking its overall total to almost 3.50 crore nett. The collections are not much but the film can have a run if Monday can be better or similar to Friday.

The growth is good on Saturday but ideally you would want 150-200% from the low starting point which would practically ensure Monday being better than Friday. The weekdays will tell if this film can go anywhere and break out at any level. The film was also released in regional languages with Telugu showing better response than Tamil though again very limited collections.

DAADI KI SHAADI collected 1 crore nett on its second day to take its two day total to 1.60 crore nett. The growth on day two is around is 60% but that is not much for a film opening this low and when the competition is growing 100% and still not in a good position and so, here the scenario is even worse. The film could do better on Sunday as its for the family audiences but with nothing for urban youth or mass it will be tough on the weekdays.
