KABALI (Hindi) is a below average fare grossing 21.75 crore nett in week one. This is similar to Rajinikanth's ROBOT which had a lifetime of 22 crore nett but in six years down the line and the film should really be doing especially considering the price paid for the film. The Hindi version may do around 25 crore nett and even if we add the Tamil and Telugu versions its a struggle to get 30 crore nett from the Hindi film market. The film has fared better in Mumbai circuit and CP, CI but West Bengal was very weak and Delhi/UP and East Punjab were also well below the mark. The original Tamil version of the film is a huge blockbuster in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and also Overseas though collections did crack mid week.
MADAARI is a flop at the box office with collections of 12.50 crore nett in the first week. The film collected poorly all over barring Delhi/UP and East Punjab where it was also poor but better than the rest of the country. The film hardly got a chance in down South due to KABALI and even in the Hindi markets the numbers of the dubbed version of KABALI were better in every circuit. The film has gone into week two with a couple of shows at main multiplexes in major cities and will probably be looking at a 15 crore nett lifetime finish which is half of TALVAR which was a film of Irrfan Khan which did reasonable business last year. That film had released on 675 screens and grossed 15.50 crore nett in week one while MADAARI was released on around 1000 screens.

KABALI (Hindi) had a low Monday as it grossed 2.25 crore nett on its first Monday. The drop is only 35% from Friday but that is because it did not open in most regions. The first week business of the film will be around 20.50 crore nett and it will be tough for the Hindi version to get to the 30 crore nett mark. There is the Tamil and Telugu version playing in most big cities in Hindi film circuits and if we include that then the film should hit a 30 crore nett lifetime total. ROBOT (Hindi) had grossed 22 crore nett and this will go slightly higher but it has been six years. The four day business of KABALI (Hindi) is as follows.
Friday - 3,50,00,000
Saturday - 4,50,00,000
Sunday - 5,25,00,000
Monday - 2,25,00,000
TOTAL - 15,50,00,000
MADAARI was very low on Monday with collections of 1.25 crore nett. Again like Kabali (Hindi) the drop is not much from Friday, infact its less than KABALI (Hindi) at 30% but collections were just too low on Friday. If a film is under 2 crore nett on day one then Monday has to be at least similar to Friday to survive. Also this film had hardly any collections in many circuits on Friday and they could not get much worse. The places where there were some collections like Delhi and East Punjab the drop was 40-45% on Monday The four day business of MADAARI is as follows.
Friday - 1,75,00,000
Saturday - 2,75,00,000
Sunday - 3,50,00,000
Monday - 1,25,00,000
TOTAL - 9,25,00,000
The first week will be around 12.5-13 crore nett for the film and MADAARI only really has India theatrical for recovery and the share of the film is not going much higher than 7.5 crore which means heavy losses. Talvar another Irfan Khan release last year managed 30 crore nett last year which was a fair result.

KABALI (Hindi) had the normal Tuesday fall of around 15%. The first week is heading for business of 20.50 crore nett but its unlikley there will be much business coming after the first week. The trends of the Hindi version are actually better than the South versions on the weekdays but that is because of business at much lower levels and the Hindi version did not open. The film has now started beating MADAARI in Delhi and East Punjab also where it did start a bit lower to that film on Friday in these circuits. The five day business of KABALI (Hindi) is as follows.
Friday - 3,50,00,000
Saturday - 4,50,00,000
Sunday - 5,25,00,000
Monday - 2,25,00,000
Tuesday - 1,85,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 17,35,00,000
MADAARI continued with low business on Tuesday. The drops are not huge but the problem is the business is so low. This film will also struggle to do much business after the first week. The week will settle at around 12.25 crore nett and then 15 crore nett probably looks the top end of its business. The five day business of MADAARI is as follows.
Friday - 1,75,00,000
Saturday - 2,75,00,000
Sunday - 3,50,00,000
Monday - 1,25,00,000
Tuesday - 1,10,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 10,35,00,000
The film has not really collected much outside Delhi / UP and East Punjab. These two areas are contributing around 40% of its all India business. South is very dull but that is expected due to KABALI.

KABALI has smashed the NETT figures of SULTAN for the first weekend which means its a new record in terms of nett collections. SULTAN had set a new record with 105.50 crore nett and KABALI has surpassed by around 4 crore nett though is a three language release. In terms of GROSS it will not be a record as the business coming from Tamil Nadu is tax free and even in other states like Nizam / Andhra, Karnataka and Kerala the tax is lower than most Hindi film circuits. The collections had a drop after day one but that is the trend for most big films ins the South. The approx all India breakdown for the first weekend nett collections of KABALI are as follows.
Tamil Nadu - 48,00,00,000
Nizam / Andhra - 20,25,00,000
Mysore / Kanataka - 16,50,00,000
Kerala - 8,50,00,000
Rest Of India - 16,00,00,000 (This includes not only Hindi but Tamil and Telugu playing outside South India)
GRAND TOTAL - 109,25,00,000
The apprx daily breakdown was 46 crore nett, 31 crore nett and 32.25 crore nett. The collections are extraordinary and it looks on course to be the biggest Tamil film in the history of that industry. The Gross collections of India and Worldwide (as Overseas is fantastic) will be compiled later to see where this one man driven film stands against the big films of Indian cinema.

KABALI has done unbelievable business at an all India level. The Hindi version may not have done well and the Telugu version is also not going to be upto the mark but in its original format Tamil it is huge wherever released. There was a drop in collections on Monday but that tends to happen with films down South which open so huge. The business of KABALI all India and all languages till date is as follows.
Friday - 46,00,00,000
Saturday - 31,00,00,000
Sunday - 32,25,00,000
Monday - 13,50,00,000
Grand TOTAL 1,22,75,00,000
The film will be the highest grossing film in the history of Tamil cinema beating the business of Rajnikanth's own ENTHIRAN (ROBOT In Hindi). That film had grossed around 195 crore nett across India with Tamil version doing 120 crore nett, Telugu version doing 53 crore nett and Hindi version grossing 22 crore nett. The way this film is going it will cross that mark with the Tamil version probably doing 100 crore nett alone in Tamil Nadu.
Despite being the biggest grosser ever in the Tamil Film industry the profits will not be huge as it fetched 132 crore from distributors across India for the various circuits. But this is mainly to do with the distributors paying a premium due to Rajinikanth and does not take away from the fact it has created history. It will probably become the second film down South after BAAHUBALI to cross 200 crore nett and the first Tamil film to cross 200 crore nett. The Telugu version will not beat the business of ENTHIRAN (ROBO in Telugu) but the Tamil version will surpass.
