KAABIL is coming to end of its run with a few lakhs to come in the next two weeks and has grossed 86.50 crore nett in five weeks. The distributor share of the film is just 41.50 crore which is poor. The film could not stand up to RAEES and has ended with collections which are 42 crore nett lower and that is even though RAEES could not hold well. The business of the film has ended very similar to another release which had a major clash SHIVAAY. That film finished at 84.83 crore but its distributor share was bit higher as its first week single screen business was better especially in Gujarat where it was an extended holiday. The distributor share for SHIVAAY was 42.50 crore apprx. The weekly business of KAABIL is as follows.
Week One  - 65,74,00,000 (nine days)
Week Two  - 16,66,00,000
Week Three - 3,54,00,000
Week Four - 45,00,000
Week Five - 11,00,000
TOTAL - 86,50,00,000

RAEES has almost come to end of its run and has grossed 128.50 crore nett in three weeks. The lifetime business of the film will be 129 crore nett and the distributor share will be around 66 crore. The film has under performed but is the biggest grosser of the year and will probably remain so for some time yet. The business of RAEES till date is as follows.
First Week - 1,10,05,00,000
Second Week - 15,90,00,000
Third Week - 2,60,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 1,28,55,00,000 appx

KAABIL has remained below the mark from day one though did comfortably beat the numbers of RAEES in the third week. The film stands at 86.50 crore nett after three weeks and will probably finish at 87.50 crore nett. The distributor share of the film will finish at around 42 crore. KRRISH way back in 2006 had managed a share of 40 crore and more than ten years later KAABIL is hardly better.. Below is the business of KAABIL till date
First Week - 65,74,00,000
Second Week - 16,66,00,000
Third Week - 4,10,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 86,50,00,000 apprx

Kaabil collects 67 cr in Week 1

KAABIL has remained below the mark through its extended nine day first week ending with collections of 67 crore nett apprx. More than the collections of the film it is the poor trend of the film which has caused the failure of the film. The film opened low and although it made huge gains on the next day as it was a national holiday for Republic Day it was back down to low levels the day after. Then on Monday the film went down further and went through the weekdays with low occupancy which does not go well for week two. The film has been affected by RAEES but the low numbers on the weekdays also tells the film has also not been accepted as with a clash you cant get the sort audience over the weekend as with a solo release which leaves more potential for the weekday business but here the weekdays were worse than the weekend.

There was an issue with screens in the first week as RAEES did get more but now that is not much of a case now as KAABIL has not even held its 2500 screens of week one with a reduction of 25% screens as multiplexes across India reduce shows. Not only KAABIL but RAEES also saw a reductions of shows as that has also not lived up to expectations. KAABIL will find it hard to put up decent numbers in the second week. There should be the usual big second weekend jump on Saturday and Sunday but around that the collections will be low. The only plus will be is that it will be able to compete better with RAEES in week two and even go up on it as both films will probably be in the same range in week two. The lifetime business of the film is probably heading to around 85 crore nett though if it can really big jumps on Saturday and Sunday it could go a little higher.

Kaabil collects 61.50 cr in 7 days

KAABIL (Hindi) continued with low business on Tuesday with a 10% drop from Monday but that is irrelevant at such low levels. The film has grossed a little 61.50 crore nett in its first week (7 days) and will head to around 68 crore nett in its extended nine day first week. The performance of the film is very similar to SHIVAAY which was involved in the Diwali clash with AE DIL HAI MUSHKIL. SHIVAAY had a higher budget but KAABIL was sold at higher prices than Shivaay to distributors in most circuits of India. If the film had released a couple of weeks earlier and not clashed with SHIVAAY and taken a decent initial it may have covered in most of the circuits but even then eventually its unlikely it would have become a grosser as the appreciation is not there. The first week daily business of KAABIL (Hindi) is as follows.
Wednesday - 8,00,00,000
Thursday - 15,50,00,000
Friday - 7,50,00,000
Saturday - 10,75,00,000
Sunday - 12,25,00,000
Monday - 4,00,00,000
Tuesday - 3,50,00,000
TOTAL - 61,50,00,000

The only thing to be seen now for KAABIL is whether it can start to get better collections than RAEES at some point after the first week. It has no chance of catching it as the lead is too big but it may be able to cut the first week lead by a few crore before the end of the run.

KAABIL (Hindi) had a poor Monday as it grossed 4 crore nett and took its six day total to 58 crore nett. The drop from Friday is 45% and better than the normal 50% but that is because collections on Friday itself were poor. Its the same story across the country with Punjab in the North doing just 35 lakhs nett, West Bengal in east doing just 25 lakhs nett and Gujarat in the West collecting only 40 lakhs nett. South India is even worse. The film had a chance on Monday as the collections of RAEES also had a drop. So this was basically the acid test for the film but to be at around 4 crore nett on Monday does not give it a chance to have good final final or cut into the lead of RAEES. The six day business of KAABIL (Hindi) is as follows.
Wednesday - 8,00,00,000
Thursday - 15,50,00,000
Friday - 7,50,00,000
Saturday - 10,75,00,000
Sunday - 12,25,00,000
Monday - 4,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 58,00,00,000

The extended first week of nine days looks to be heading for around the 67-69 crore nett mark and even though there is no release in the second week its not really going to benefit much as the second week business will not be good. The film flattered on the big national holiday and on Saturday a little but eventually the reports and limited public appreciation was likely to tell on collections and that is what has happened on Monday.

KAABIL (Hindi) grew well on Saturday as collections improved around 40% from the day before which is good growth but still overall collections remain on the lower side. The film grossed 10.75 crore nett on Saturday taking its four day total to 41.75 crore nett. If the film had grown another 15-20% it would be in a better position as now it has to repeat the sort of growth it had on Saturday on Sunday again. The weekday business will be crucial for the film and the holds will have to be very strong which may allow it to challenge RAEES in the second week The four three day business of KAABIL (Hindi) is as follows..
Wednesday - 8,00,00,000
Thursday - 15,50,00,000
Friday - 7,50,00,000
Saturday - 10,75,00,000
TOTAL - 41,75,00,000 apprx
--------------------
KAABIL (Hindi) had a low extended weekend of 54 crore nett and although it picked up well on Saturday the trend is not that good with collections remaining at low levels for five days barring the big national holiday. The collections of the film are around 38 crore nett behind its competition RAEES. Mumbai circuit has fared best but even that can't be called good but average. Monday is crucial for the film and its collections will be even more steadier than RAEES on Monday compared to the Friday as its Friday was so low but it needs to be close to that Friday total to go somewhere and can't afford that normal 40-50% drop from Friday. The  five day business of KAABIL (Hindi) is as follows.
Wednesday - 8,00,00,000
Thursday - 15,50,00,000
Friday - 7,50,00,000
Saturday - 10,75,00,000
Sunday - 12,25,00,000
TOTAL - 54,00,00,000

KAABIL (Hindi) showed huge growth on its second day due to the national holiday for Republic Day. The film grossed 15.50 crore nett and was around 90% up from the previous day. This has taken the total of the film to 23.50 crore nett in two days. So despite the huge growth the business is still on the lower side. Over the first two days it has done half the business of RAEES which it was pitted against. The plus is the trend on day two but even here it remains to be seen if its just a big holiday push or is there something more to it which gives it the potential to go on a run. The next few days will determine this and they are crucial for the fate of KAABIL. The first two day business of KAABIL (Hindi) is as follows.
Friday - 8,00,00,000
Saturday - 15,50,00,000
TOTAL - 23,50,00,000 apprx

The growth has come across the board as no circuit really performed well on its first day so there was plenty of potential for improvement and that is what happened. Practically all the circuits saw growth in the range of 80-100%. There is a Tamil and Telugu version of the film but that is not doing well with around 50-60 lakhs nett in two days.
-----------------
KAABIL (Hindi) flattered to deceive on day two with its huge jump as reports of the film on release were not good. The jump was a real big surprise but it shows what difference a big national holiday can make. After that huge jump the business has gone below its day one business at 7.50 crore nett which is poor and and leaves it facing a near impossible task. The film needed double digits on day three for survival but it has fell well short. The three day business of the film is around 31 crore nett which is a poor total and its even worse considering there was a huge holiday in the three days. Without that the film would have had a disaster three days The first three day business of KAABIL (Hindi) is as follows..
Thursday - 8,00,00,000
Friday - 15,50,00,000
Saturday - 7,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 31,00,00,000 apprx

Its all about some respectability for the film now as its unlikely to see that 50-60% growth on Saturday which would put it back in the reckoning. These things just don't happen after such big drops. It has to now improve well over the weekend which gives it some chance for the weekdays to be high enough so it has screen count in week two to bring in some collections at least.

Kaabil collects 8 cr on Day 1

Highlight Story
Box Office India Trade Network

KAABIL had a low start on day one and could not really pick up the pace and collected just 7.75-8 crore nett on day one. KRRISH in 2006 had collected 6 crore nett on just 900 screens which this film on almost three times the screens and almost 11 years later hardly does much better. KITES in 2010 managed to open to 10 crore nett plus on 1600 screens. It sort of puts into perspective the initial of the film. The film did have a issue on release as a multiplex chain dropped its shows on day of release to favour RAEES. But that multiplex chain had little choice as it had only opened advances a day earlier and seeing the difference in advances they would have lost business if they had not given RAEES more screenings. Also it hardly makes any difference as if you can't collect on an X amount of shows you are hardly likely to do better if you have more shows, in fact its the opposite as the occupancy would have drop further.

The collections were not even able to match MOHENJO DARO which was Hrithik Roshan's last release and also clashed with another film RUSTOM but maybe it has to be taken into account that Raees is a bigger film than RUSTOM. This is something the makers should also have seen and released Kaabil a couple of weeks earlier. The film has not collected well anywhere but places like West Bengal, Bihar and Gujarat are even worse. The hope is probably that its a big national holiday for Republic Day and there is huge spare capacity for the film so the potential is there for big jump in business. The bigger problem is that if the huge jump does somehow come is that it will have to hold at those levels on Friday and over the weekend.

The film was also released in Tamil and telugu which grossed around 25 lakhs nett.
