THE SKY IS PINK had a very poor first week collecting 15.50 crore nett. The film opened poor and then had the growth on Saturday which is natural for an urban multiplex film but it was all downhill from there. The Saturday growth may have come from media support as that can help films with such low numbers but eventually the real word of mouth will come into play even with the metro multiplex crowd.

There was a little boost on Thursday which was due to Karva Chauth and it was there for all Hindi films playing. The film will stay in theaters this week due to no significant release. So it could add a little but even the reaching 20 crore nett is probably the target for the film.

JOKER collected a solid 17.50 crore nett in week two and 55 crore nett in two weeks. The film collected more than THE SKY IS PINK in week two and again shows that screens are not needed to collect. The film released on just 350 cinemas and could finish with around 65 crore nett. The appreciation is limited and confined to the metros and that too where the premium multiplexes so even with limited footfalls the numbers have come.

THE SKY IS PINK went down on Monday as it dropped 45-50% from day one. Its the normal Monday fall for a film which collects well in the first weekend but that was not the case with this film. The film collected 1.25-1.35 crore nett on Monday which takes its total to 11.75 crore nett plus.

The first week will finish at around 15 crore nett and there will not be coming much thereafter. This sort of urban film hardly has a chance at the box office now if there is competition from a good Hollywood release. This film holds appeal mainly for English speaking audiences and these are not exactly in huge numbers and at the moment JOKER is the choice for this audience.

THE SKY IS PINK could not score over the weekend as it collected 10.50 crore nett with a flat Sunday. The growth came on Saturday as it was an urban multiplex film but that was about it. These metros fall on Sunday evening which meant the film could not grow on Sunday as outside the metros the film is hardly collecting.

The film will find it tough going over the weekdays going by the flat numbers on Sunday. The first weekend of this film is actually lower than the second weekend of JOKER which collected 11.50 crore nett in second weekend. Both films have bulk of the collections coming from premium multiplexes.

THE SKY IS PINK had good growth of 60% on day two but the film really needed to double up as from 2.50 crore nett this growth is probably not good enough. The film is similar to a film released earlier this year EK LADKI KO DEKHA TOH AISA LAGA in terms of genre and collections. Both aimed at the urban family audience, the difference is that the former was about lesbians which means even a lesser reach than THE SKY IS PINK. The weekend will not be much for this film and the hope will be for some stable collections over the weekdays.

THE SKY IS PINK had a poor opening day of 2.50 crore nett apprx and the bigger problem for the film was that it did not grow much in the evening despite being a film for the evening audience in metro multiplexes. The opening is far lower than JAI GANGAAJAL which was the last Priyanka Chopra film in 2016 but is far better than the last few releases of Farhan Akhtar.

The film holds limited appeal but the Hollywood film JOKER has shown numbers can come for films with limited appeal and this film is actually a wider release than JOKER. Despite the limited evening growth there should be a good upturn on Saturday as these type films collect best in theatres which show strong Saturday growth.

JOKER maintained strong collections on its second Friday as it collected 2.25 crore nett plus and the total collections are in the 40 crore nett range.
