Jacqueline Fernandez’s British film Definition Of Fear to release in India in August

Natasha Coutinho (MUMBAI MIRROR; June 23, 2018)

Jacqueline Fernandez’s British film, Definition Of Fear, which was shot in 2014–15 and did the rounds of a few film festivals is gearing up for release in India in August. Director James Simpson promises that the psychological horror will give you sleepless nights and raves about Jacqueline, who is “amazing” in it.

The film was shot in Ontario, Canada, and is about how fear can be manipulated and created and sometimes can be very real, too. It’s a story about four girls — Jacqueline, Katherine Barrell, Blythe Hubbard and Mercedes Papalia — who decide to spend a weekend at an isolated mansion deep in a forest. Their play at night with a Ouija board starts something they can’t control. Jacqueline, who plays a psychology student had told Mirror (Nov 11, 2014) earlier, “It’s about understanding what makes us afraid. Initially, we are in a controlled environment with noises created to evoke fear, but slowly we realise that we aren’t the only ones there.”

Jacqueline Fernandez was ecstatic when she bagged the lead role in the Hollywood horror flick Definition Of Fear. But then she realised that she didn't have the dates to shoot the climax in Malaysia because of a scheduling blunder.

The 29-year old actress immediately informed writer-director James Simpson about the problem and requested him to film in Mumbai. To Jacky's surprise he readily obliged.

The film revolves around four girls who decide to spend a weekend at a charming holiday cabin only to discover that they are not 'alone'. After shooting for one month in Canada, the cabin was created in Poland where 80 per cent of the film was completed over a two month-long schedule.

The set was then dismantled and set up once again in Malaysia. And now the haunted house will be coming to Mumbai's Film City for a week.

Jacky who plays a psychology student, Sarah Fording, in the film explains, "It's my first international project and I was really worried because the climax cannot be filmed without me. At the same time, I can't travel out of the country at the moment because I'm committed to shooting for Karan Johar's Brothers with Akshay Kumar in Mumbai."

Beginning next month, she plans to juggle between the two sets simultaneously. "The makers are eager to wrap up in time for a worldwide November release," she says.

Asked if the Indian audience will enjoy her American andaaz, and she quips, "The horror genre is unexplored in India so the Hindi audience will love it."
