Jai Ho collects 81.72 cr in Week 1

Box Office India Trade Network

JAI HO had the ninth highest first week of all time as it grossed 81.72 crore nett in its first week. The film was decent on Monday but started to drop pretty fast from Tuesday onwards. The drops were pretty much universal

The first week is in the same range as DABANGG which was released nearly four years ago and was the start of Salman Khan's phenomenal run at the box office. The business is less than 50% of what DHOOM 3 did in its first week.

JAI HO has not done the expected business anywhere. Gujarat/Saurashtra is better than the rest of the country but even here the business is not fantastic and can be called good at best. Delhi/UP, East Punjab, West Bengal and Mysore even struggled with opening collctions. First week collections breakup:
Friday 17.25 crore
Saturday 16.50 crore
Sunday 24.25 crore
Monday 9 crore
Tuesday 7.25 crore
Wednesday 5 crore
Thursday 2.47 crore

Jai Ho drops further on Wednesday; 79.50 cr in 6 days

JAI HO dropped further on Wednesday with collections around 5.25-5.50 crore nett. The collections on Monday were decent but it has seen rapid falls over the next two days and is now sure to collect less than 85 crore nett in its first week.

Its not a good sign for the second week as with these falls on Tuesday and Wednesday, a second week total of 30 crore nett or near that looks impossible. A 30 crore nett second week would have given the film a good final total.

The only plus for the film is lack of competition this week but even that can't be much of a help with collections dropping at this rate. The collections at single screens are also not holding up that well.

Jai Ho collects 7.25 cr on Tuesday; 74 cr in 5 days

JAI HO had a noticeable drop on Tuesday as it grossed around 7.25 crore nett taking the five day total to a little over 74 crore nett. The first week will finish around 85 crore nett as the next two days should add around 11 crore nett with a 15% drop on each day.

The second weekend is very important for it to put up a good to decent final total. A 150 crore nett total is out of the question but the film is in a better position than the first two days where the film looked heading towards a little over 100 crore.

There is just film, ONE BY TWO, releasing this week and that will not be much of competition. So Friday total and Saturday growth will tell where the second week is going. At the moment, the film is trending towards a similar total like READY but a big Saturday and Sunday this week can take it higher than READY which grossed 120 crore nett approx.

Jai Ho does well on Monday; 67 cr in 4 days

JAI HO had respectable figures on Monday of around 9 crore nett as per early estimates. The film needed a bigger Monday to get towards that 150 crore nett total but 9 crore nett although not great is reasonable and is less than 50% drop from Friday.

JAI HO has now grossed around 67 crore nett in four days which is fair but due to the sort of initial business done by DHOOM 3 and CHENNAI EXPRESS,  higher figures are being expected today from big films like JAI HO. The total for the week should go over 85 crore nett.

The film held up best in Mumbai circuit with Gujarat remaining strong. Also the film has a decent trend and has actually been let down by the opening. The figures on Sunday and Monday are comparatively better than the numbers of Friday and Saturday. The film has limited competition on Friday and hence, it can put up healthy figures in week two.

Below are the Monday figures of the last few Salman Khan starrers.
1. Ek Tha Tiger - 18,96,00,000 (Holiday)
2. Dabangg 2 - 11,43,00,000
3. Dabangg - 10,68,00,000
4. Jai Ho - 9,00,00,000 (approx)
5. Bodyguard - 8,64,00,000
6. Ready - 8,03,00,000

Jai Ho collects 58 cr in 3 days; shows huge jump on Sunday

Box Office India Trade Network

JAI HO grossed 58 crore nett approx over its first weekend. The business at multiplexes was only strong on Sunday which was a national holiday. The first two days at multiplexes left a lot to be desired.

The biggest question now is that, is the growth on Sunday all to do with the national holiday or is there some appreciation for the content of the film? The next couple of days will be the deciding factor.

JAI HO fared best in Mumbai as the Gujarat/Saurashtra belt did excellent business but quite a few circuits performed below par. Breakup:
Friday 17.25 crore
Saturday 16.50 crore
Sunday 24.25 crore
