After Hrs was the first to tell you that director Shivam Nair plans to cast Ileana D’Cruz as Uzma Ahmed in her biopic, which will soon make its way to celluloid. Now, we can tell you that along with Ileana, Saif Ali Khan, too, is most likely to join the cast.

SAIF — THE HERO
While the whole film will be a tell-all tale about Uzma’s experience and her subsequent rescue from her fraud Pakistani husband, the biopic will have another angle to it. And Shivam confirms he is in talks with Saif for the lead role. Nair tells us, “Yes, we are in talks with Saif. We are in the final stages of scripting and then, we will take the final call. Saif will be the main male lead, if he says yes.”

A DIPLOMAT
We have heard and read about Uzma’s story but Saif’s role is something that people don’t really ‘know about’, claims the director.

“Along with Uzma’s story, our story is also about a diplomat in the Indian embassy and the Union Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj. The character is of an Indian diplomat who’s there in Pakistan, and how he handles the whole case. When the girl is inside the Embassy, he is the one helping and taking care of her. We only know about Uzma and her story. People don’t know much about the role of this diplomat.”

He further adds, “It’s a positive role. That’s the major part of the story. The diplomat and the girl (to be rescued) are the lead roles.”

KUNAL — THE MEDIATOR
The way Saif was approached for the role is also interesting. It was his brother-in-law (sister Soha’s husband) Kunal Kemmu who took the film to Saif. Shivam tells us. “Saif already knows about the idea. I have worked with Kunal earlier so I know him well and I suggested the idea to him. He knows Saif well so he briefed him about the film.” The narration will happen only after the final script is ready, which will take another two-three weeks from now.

Kapil Sharma upsets Baadshaho team for not arriving on time to shoot for The Kapil Sharma Show?

Natasha Coutinho (MUMBAI MIRROR; August 28, 2017)

Kapil Sharma has done it again. After keeping a series of his star guests waiting for hours to shoot for his comedy show in the past, often resorting to not showing up at all, the comedian-actor on Sunday irked the Baadshaho team by not reporting to work to shoot an upcoming episode. Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Ileana D'cruz and Esha Gupta were on the show's sets at the call time of 11 am but left in 15 minutes after the host failed to show up.

A source says, “The film's team had been in touch with Kapil's team since the previous night to ensure that everything went as per the plan. It was decided that the camera would roll at 11 am and Kapil's team assured them that he would arrive on time. Even before the stars could leave from their respective residences, Kapil's team claimed he was on his way and it won't take time they claimed Kapil was at a hotel which is only 15 minutes away from the studio.“

Despite best laid plans, the Baadshaho team was in for a rude shock upon arrival. “Kapil's team informed them that the show host hadn't woken up and if they waited for him, it would take at least two more hours for him to get ready and reach the venue. There was no update from Kapil's end after that so the actors walked out at 11.15am,“ the source adds, further revealing that Devgn and Co have no plans to return to shoot said episode. “They don't have more dates to shoot the episode as they are already blocked for other shows. Moreover, the turn of events on Sunday has upset them.“

In the recent past, Kapil bailed out of shooting with Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma for Jab Harry Met Sejal, while schedules with team Mubarakan and Guest Iin London had to be cancelled on account of his ill health. Mirror had earlier reported (January 5) about Kapil having kept Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur waiting for five hours during the promotion of Ok Jaanu. He turned up only when the actress threatened to walk out.

Amidst incessant reports that The Kapil Sharma Show was headed for a premature shutdown in light of the show host's erratic behaviour on set and a widely publicised fallout with Sunil Grover, the show was renewed for another season earlier this month. Today, a shooting schedule with the Poster Boys cast members Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Shreyas Talpade was cancelled by the film's producers for fear of suffering a similar fate as Kapil's previous guests.

Meanwhile, according to the source, the night before he was scheduled to shoot with Ajay and Co, Kapil was partying at a filmmaker friend's birthday bash filmmaker friend's birthday till 6 am so he couldn't wake up on time for the shoot on Sunday.

Milan Luthria confirms the exciting cast of Baadshaho; Emraan Hashmi to play 'rustic, twisted' character

Milan Luthria's multistarrer rolls in Mumbai this August; a two-month schedule in Rajasthan to follow
Avinash Lohana (MUMBAI MIRROR; June 22, 2016)

Mirror (January 13) had earlier reported that Milan Luthria and Ajay Devgn were reuniting for Baadshaho, a multistarrer set in Rajasthan, six years after Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai. Now, we've learnt that the filmmaker has zeroed in on the rest of the cast, which includes Emraan Hashmi, Vidyut Jammwal, Ileana D'Cruz, Esha Gupta and Sanjay Mishra.

"It's an exciting line-up, as all the actors play characters they've never done before. While Ajay is a man of the soil, impulsive and stubborn, Emraan's turn is rustic and twisted. On the other hand, Vidyut plays a cocky guy, while Ileana's character is a charmer, who has people eating out of her hands. Esha's character is a no-nonsense chick. All of them have shades of grey," reveals Milan, adding that the first schedule of his film rolls in August.

"It's a 15-day schedule to be shot on a set in Mumbai, after which we head to Rajasthan in November and stay on till December. We are yet to finalise the exact locations in Rajasthan and will be going on a recce sometime next month."

Baadshaho, co-produced by Milan and Bhushan Kumar, and written by Rajat Aroraa, is a thriller set in the Emergency era of the '70s. Milan and his team spent three months on the research. "We read a lot of books and saw several documentaries that talked about the media censorship during that time, among other things. We learnt how newspapers would arrive at doorsteps with certain reports clipped out," he adds.

Earlier, Milan had cast Pulkit Samrat, Shruti Haasan and Lisa Haydon in the film but reveals that a change in the script resulted in a change of cast as well. "They were part of a different subject but we found out that some elements of that script were used in another film so we changed the idea. The script was turned around last year in October," he reveals.

Milan's film was also surrounded by speculations that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor and Diljit Dosanjh were among the names being considered for the lead roles. "When a script changes, sometimes the people we reach out to no longer fit the bill. We did speak to a couple of actors but nothing was finalised," he explains.

Milan will collaborate with a foreign action director for Baadshaho. The music includes Rajasthani folk with a funky twist, composed by Ankit Tiwari.
