Housefull 5 collects 162.07 cr in its lifetime; 248.80 cr worldwide

Housefull 5 Movie Review: Akshay Kumar's Film Is Utterly Absurd
Box Office India Trade Network

HOUSEFULL 5 closed its run at 162 crore nett and became the worst performing film of the series by a margin and the first one NOT to become a HIT. These sort of films generally see negativity but here the film did not even have the negativity at the level of HOUSEFULL 4 which became a major HIT though it was a totally different story this time. The genre is pretty much critic proof as long as the content is there but this time it was obviously not there.

The film got into the AVERAGE category as it did well in the first weekend and got an open run in week two. If there had been a major release in week two, even this status would have been tough. The film managed to do a little better in North for a comedy film but that could be because it was not really a comedy and also had a hit song. It is the first film of the series NOT to do 1 crore footfalls as it only got 90 lakh admits apprx while even the lesser films of the series like 1 and 3 had got over 1 crore. HOUSEFULL 2 and HOUSEFULL 4 did 1.5 crore plus.

The Overseas actually opened well driven by the Eid factor in Gulf but collections came down very fast and the film ended up with just a little over $6 million. The worldwide numbers of the film finished at only 249 crore while HOUSEFULL 4 had closed at 295 crore.

The final collections of HOUSEFULL 5 in India are as follows.
Week One - 1,12,95,00,000
Week Two - 35,92,00,000
Week Three - 9,92,00,000
Week Four - 2,72,00,000
Week Five - 45,00,000
Week Six - 10,00,000

HOUSEFULL 5 is coming to the end of its run and has seen dropping collections after a good first week. The film stands at a little over 160 crore nett and is looking at a close of around 161.50 crore nett. This makes it the third highest grossing film of 2025 though SITAARE ZAMEEN PAR could go ahead by the time it ends it run. CHHAAVA and RAID 2 are the top two.

The film just about gets into the AVERAGE mark but this is the worst performing film of the franchise and the first one to not get 1 crore footfalls. It is the fifth film of the franchise there can be some fatigue but that will be known if and when there is another film in the franchise. The film has done better in North as both Delhi/UP and East Punjab rack up the highest numbers of the franchise beating HOUSEFULL 4 which released in Diwali.

Delhi/UP sees the highest numbers for a franchise comedy as its not only higher than the HOUSEFULL films but even all GOLMAAL and DHAMAAL films. North is the reason why comedy films don't do huge numbers in India and this has been there since cinema started. The best comedy of this era, HERA PHERI (2000), was a miserable failure in the North though it got its due to satellite which enabled next part to do better. Yet, it had an under performance in North.

Overall, despite better North, its a below par performance as Mumbai/Gujarat has not done well and this is the core for a comedy film. Here, the fact that its probably not an outright comedy like the previous films has come in the way and in a franchise, its a must to satisfy the core audience. The film having 2 parts has turned out a total disaster but that should have been known before release that it would be of no help because these sort of gimmicks never work.

The collections of HOUSEFULL 5 are as follows.
Week One - 1,12,85,00,000
Week Two - 35,72,00,000
Week Three - 9,79,00,000
Week Four - 2,70,00,000
Week Five - 35,00,000 (expected)

HOUSEFULL 5 had a low third week as it could not really stand up to the competition of SITAARE ZAMEEN PAR and put in a third week number under 10 crore nett. The film collected 9.50 crore nett which is a drop of around 73% from the previous week. There is more competition this week. As a result, there is likely to be another drop.

The film stands at 158 crore nett so far and now is sure to finish below the RAID 2 numbers which were around 165 crore nett despite HOUSEFULL 5 being the bigger film and more established franchise. The film picked up almost 80 crore nett in its opening three day weekend; the problem for the film has been the holds post the weekend.

The third week sees competition so you take a fall there but the second week also saw a drop of almost 70% and that is where the film failed as it should have held better in that second week. The film is also struggling to hit the 50 crore nett in Mumbai circuit though it may just get there by the end of its run but this circuit should have done much better.

HOUSEFULL 5 collected 37 crore nett in it second week showing a 67% drop week on week. The film showed a good jump on Tuesday due to the discounted rates but collections were quick to go down the next day as the film faced a huge drop. This led the buy one get one free scheme to be activated the next day and these sort of things pretty much show that the film is not doing well.

The collections of the film stand at 150 crore nett in two weeks and the film still has some work to do to hit the average mark. If collections were to capitulate with the release of SITAARE ZAMEEN PAR, then this would not even be hitting the AVERAGE mark. There is some sort of perception play in today's digital world of a blockbuster hit but that hardly matters as the public has seen the film. So, it knows its worth and the facts are not hidden from industry and its only these two that really matter.

If the film gets to the average mark, it can thank that Eid period From Sat - Mon where the film managed to get good collections in the Eid areas. Otherwise, it could have been 5-10% lower. The film has faced the same fate in Overseas as there it was a very good weekend due to the Eid factor in Gulf but collections came down fast post the weekend.

HOUSEFULL 5 struggled on its third Friday as it collected 1.25 crore nett as the release of SITAARE ZAMEEN PAR hit the film even though at most places, the new release hardly took an initial. The drop is more than 40% previous day but as appreciation not there it gets hugely affected even by a film like SITAARE ZAMEEN PAR.

The little positive for the film is that it will escape the FLOP tag as that is what it would have been if the collections had capitulated, But with this number, it should at least manage to add some collections this week to finish although they will not be in double digits. Overall, the film is looking to be an AVERAGE/BELOW AVERAGE fare which is not a good result for the film.

The total of the film now is 151.25 crore nett which is well below expectations especially considering the film had almost 80 crore nett in its first weekend and is yet to even get double of its first weekend. It may get there by the end of its run but even then its hardly a result. The film is struggling to reach the numbers of RAID 2 and is likely to end lower unless it manages to get another 14 crore nett which looks hard from here.

HOUSEFULL 5 collected almost 25 crore nett over its second weekend as it did well on Saturday and Sunday but the damage has been done with the weekday collections and then that drop on the second Friday. The growth that came on Saturday and Sunday had to come from a higher level on Friday.

The film has a total of 138 crore nett so far and it could do with a good hold on Monday as reaching 150 crore nett after two weeks does not look a certainty. RAID 2 had collected 39 crore nett over in its second weekend despite having issues of the Pakistan conflict for a couple of days and its looing a similar type of number here. However, RAID 2 was very strong in third week and the trend here is not as good and also it has competition from an Aamir Khan film.

HOUSEFULL 5 has collected around 40 crore nett in Mumbai and 30 crore nett in Delhi/UP so far. The latter may touch the numbers of HOUSEFULL 4; in fact only Delhi/UP and East Punjab has chances of doing numbers similar to HOUSEFULL 4. These two circuits can end up with numbers similar to HOUSEFULL 4 but that will be a best case scenario. Mysore can go ahead of HOUSEFULL 4 but this circuits is stronger now for Hindi film than 2019. Nizam/Andhra though will fall well short.

HOUSEFULL 5 collected 3-3.25 crore nett on its second Monday dropping 40% from the Friday. The drop is the normal drop for a holdover film but again this film could have done with a bit better trending in the second week. The film has collected 28 crore nett so far in its second week and its looking around 37 crore nett for the week. This will be less than the RAID 2 total which it got with Pakistan conflict issue. Also, RAID 2's costs are lower.

HOUSEFULL 5 will be standing at around 150 crore nett after two weeks and then it depends on where the third Friday lands with the release of SITAARE ZAMEEN PAR. The range of the film is looking 160-170 crore nett depending on the third Friday. Overall it will be worst performing film of the HOUSEFULL series and in all likelihood it will be the first one which will not do 1 crore footfalls. HOUSEFULL 2 and HOUSEFULL crossed 1.50 crore while HOUSEFULL 3 and HOUSEFULL 4 were 1 crore plus.

The fact that the film is a franchise is what makes the numbers of the film look low. If these numbers had come on a non franchise film, even with the budget of this film, they would have been seen has respectable numbers. Franchise films is where the industry is looking today but HOUSEFULL 5 shows that if the content is not there then even franchise films will not emerge as HITS. The limited success of this film will not change the trend though for franchise films as they have more awareness which means better initial collections.

HOUSEFULL 5 managed to show a good jump on Tuesday thanks to the discounted rates as it picked up 4-4.25 crore nett. This is a solid jump of 25% and it should ensure the film now crosses 150 crore nett in two weeks. The second week has so far picked up 32 crore nett and it could finish in the 37-38 crore nett range. The film stands at 145 crore nett till date.

The film now needs a decent third Friday when SITAARE ZAMEEN PAR releases. If the film could have a 2 crore plus nett third Friday, then it will have a shot at 170-175 crore nett which will not be good but it will look reasonable. It wont be easy with the new film releasing even though SITAARE ZAMEEN PAR is mainly for the metro crowd. The problem is that HOUSEFULL 5 probably does not have the appreciation to stand up against competition. There was a drop last week from Thursday to Friday and so, this week, its likely that the drop will be bigger.

Housefull 5 Movie Review: Akshay Kumar's Film Is Utterly Absurd
Box Office India Trade Network

HOUSEFULL 5 collected 79 crore nett plus over its first three days which is a good number though the film probably needed to do better. But its enough to keep it in the race and as long as it does well from here, it should do well. Generally, the franchise has run well post the weekend but this time, the film is slightly different as its not an outright comedy and more like comedy/suspense film.

This is the highest post pandemic number for an Akshay Kumar starrer beating the 77 crore nett number of SOORYAVANSHI but that released when there were issues due to Covid-19 and business has got better for the bigger films since then. So, in fair value terms, this weekend is not as strong as SOORYAVANSHI.

The film has generally scored well in all circuits with good enough collections in the East India also where comedies tend to work less. Gujarat is very good considering the film has elements of an adult comedy and it has collected well till date despite being a conservative state. The growth of the film could have been better over the weekend as taking the Eid factor out, it has jumped around 30% from Friday to Sunday which is less. There was a fall in a few circuits on Sunday though gains in Mumbai and Central belt meant that the film made minimal gains.

The story for the film will be what happens from here as it has all of June to do business as there is only one other major release in the month. The Monday is crucial and it needs a double digit number at the very least if it is to benefit from this open run in front of it. A weekend of 90 crore nett plus would have made the journey easier but the film has probably fallen 10 crore nett short of it had to do and now it has to make up ground over the next 10-12 days.

The collections of HOUSEFULL 5 till date are as follows.

Sunday - 29,00,00,000 apprx

HOUSEFULL 5 did good business in India but it was better in overseas as it recorded very good numbers across all the overseas markets outside US/Canada which could have been better. Still Gulf, United Kingdom and Australia were excellent and its the biggest overseas opening of 2025 for a Hindi film.

The film managed around $4 million overseas which beats the $3.4 million of CHHAAVA even though US/Canada was far less as CHHAAVA was $1.7 million and HOUSEFULL 5 will be $1.1 million apprx. But in Gulf, CHHAAVA was $560k but here, Gulf will be a huge $1 million higher at $1.5 million plus. The highest opening films for Akshay Kumar in Overseas before HOUSEFULL 5 were GOOD NEWWZ at $3.4 million and SOORYAVANSHI at $3.3 million.

The worldwide number for the film is 130.50 crore which is also the highest for an Akshay Kumar starrer beating the 118 crore figure of SOORYAVANSHI. The other 100 crore weekend grosser is MISSION MANGAL at 102 crore. The film got 96.50 crore GROSS in India and 34 crore GROSS in Overseas. The target is probably to emerge as the biggest Akshay Kumar film in India and Overseas and although it looks easier in Overseas, it will not be so as the US/Canada market is less and Gulf tends to die a bit quicker than US/Canada.
-----------------------------------
HOUSEFULL 5 collected around 11 crore nett on Monday which is a drop of 50% from the first day which takes the four day total of the film to 90 crore nett. The film could have done with a better hold but its fair and keeps the film in the race for some sort of success though there is a lot of work to be done. Also considering the weekend trend, a stronger hold was looking tough.

There are places which have actually held better like the North, Central and parts of East India while while other areas have actually seen noticeable drops on Monday. Gujarat, which did very well over the weekend, did see a drop on Monday but the weekend business was surprising as the film is more of an adult comedy and suspense film rather than a family comedy. This is a bit of a downer as if this market had come through, the film was sure to do very well.

After four days, the film has a decent number on the board and its a fair Monday trend but its mainly about how does the film run from here. A stronger hold on Monday would have really helped though post pandemic, a 50% drop is better than what it would have meant pre pandemic but it remains to be seen if the film consolidates from here over the next few days or shows a drop. If the film can hold well and keep a good level till the end of the week, that will be a huge plus as the weekend will do well.

It remains best in places like Delhi/UP, Rajasthan and CI and these circuits have to continue to do well if the film is to succeed. The Delhi/UP hold could be due to post Eid also.

HOUSEFULL 5 saw a drop in collections on Tuesday as it collected 9.25-9.50 crore nett. This drop would be fine if it was not for cheap Tuesdays as rates were dropped. Hence, it should have held its collections better. A film like this should not be going for cheap Tuesday offers anyway as your weekend collections were good; so, it should have at least avoided the cheap rates for the first week.

Basically it should have been like RAID 2 where they held Tuesday at normal weekday rates but the makers were probably more confident about that film in the longer run than here as the Monday fall may look fine overall but there were big falls on Monday morning in many circuits including an important one like Mumbai. Mumbai has held better on Tuesday but Delhi/UP has seen a fall.

The film is around the 100 crore nett mark in five days and its looking like a long journey for the film especially with this drop. Post the cheap Tuesday, there is likely to be another drop. It remains to be seen where the film goes from here and the second weekend looks very crucial for the film. The film has 100 crore nett up on the board and it should be a first week of around the 115 crore nett mark.

The second week and what happens after will decide the fate of the film and whether the film can reach the success mark or do better with a bit of luck. To emerge a HIT, the film has a lot of work to do and looks very hard at the moment unless the second week can really surprise.

HOUSEFULL 5 dropped further on Wednesday as it collected 7.25 crore nett. The film is seeing noticeable drops on the weekdays and this is a concern going forward. Its not the film has a huge total up on the board that it can afford to have these drops. The film has so far collected 107 crore and the week looks like closing at 113 crore nett.

All is not yet lost for the film but it needs to stabilize over the next two days. A hold must come either on Thursday or Friday but if it keeps on the present trend, then the second weekend will not help much as it will jumping on Saturday from a low second Friday. Basically the next two days will decide the fate of film.

The film is not going to meet the expectations of the franchise that is pretty much certain but if it can hold decently from here. At least it wont be a FLOP film and in todays time, that itself can be seen as a positive. Obviously if the film was not part of a successful franchise, then even these results would be pretty good. The two positives for the film are that it has done well in Delhi/UP and it has an open week in week two.

HOUSEFULL 5 had a decent first week of 113 crore nett though it was let down by the business on weekdays. The film managed to score a good weekend of almost 80 crore nett but could only add around 34 crore nett over the weekdays when it should have at least added 40 crore nett. The film is now on a rescue act as the second Friday hold is a must if it is to become even a moderate success.

Another drop on the second Friday and the film will be heading for trouble as business after the second week will be harder. There will be SITAARE ZAMEEN PAR releasing next week which is not an initial taking film but it will still hit the collections of HOUSEFULL 5. The film will not reach the numbers of HOUSEFULL 4 but if it can to around 170-175 crore nett, that is a fair total though the industry will probably not see it that way due to the expectations from the film especially being a franchise.

HOUSEFULL 5 should have done better but obviously the content is weaker than the last film and on top, you have these two climaxes in one film which would have been of no help. Its pretty certain that no one will be doing this again in a hurry though never say never as in this industry, mistakes are often repeated. Its basically a crucial Friday for the film and if it can come out with 6 crore nett or close, then it wont meet expectations. At the same time, it wont FLOP either.

HOUSEFULL 5 collected 5.25 crore nett on its second Friday which is around 12% down from Thursday. There is a drop but its not as bad as the drop on the weekdays and there is some stabilization. However, a number more closer to its Thursday number would have been better. There were only a couple of Hollywood releases and when there is no competition, you always stand a chance of the holdover Friday being as good as the previous day.

Still, the number is just about good enough to keep on track for and AVERAGE success but for that it has to consolidate over the weekend and get that growth which holdover films get. Basically the film is going to be middling success like KESARI CHAPTER 2 but you can take that for that film as nothing much is expected. However, with HOUSEFULL 5, the expectations are much more due to which a middling success looks disappointing. In todays time, it is a must that these established franchises become HIT films because outside franchise, its very tough to get initial audience.

HOUSEFULL 5 stands at 119 crore nett at the moment and it does not look if it will reach the 150 crore nett mark by the end of the week unless Saturday and Sunday show really huge growth. The target now for the film is probably to become the second highest grosser of the year and for that it has beat the RAID 2 numbers which stand at around 164 crore nett at present.

HOUSEFULL 5 saw good growth of around 70% on its second Saturday which was a must for the film. If it had come lower, then it may have just folded in the 150 crore nett range but now it has a shot at closing its lifetime numbers somewhere similar to the RAID 2 numbers. Its a below par performance but at least, the film will not flop.

Its looking an AVERAGE fare unless the film can collect well post the release of SITAARE ZAMEEN PAR. It is not a huge film but has Aamir Khan in it and so, it will get a bigger release than the content should be getting and its this release which will affect HOUSEFULL 5. The film showed better growth in Mumbai circuit on Saturday while it was lesser in the North. The film has performed well in North though for a comedy film which tend to be weaker here unless that one that have that North base.

HOUSEFULL 5 now stands at almost 128 crore nett and it should close the week somewhere close to the 150 crore nett. Then, it will be about what it can do post week two with the flow of releases to start.

The collections of HOUSEFULL 5 till date are as follows.

Saturday - 28,25,00,000 apprx

Housefull 5 collects 50.25 cr in 2 days

Housefull 5 Box Office Collection Day 2: Akshay Kumar's Film Crosses Rs 50 Crore Mark
Box Office India Trade Network

HOUSEFULL 5 has done well on day two as it collected 28.25 crore nett which is pretty good growth in the 25-30% range. It was a holiday for Eid on Saturday and so, maybe more growth could have come. But with Eid falling on Saturday, it is likely to be over two days and in many Muslim centres, its the day after Eid that does better. As a result, it could have been a minimal Eid affect and the Sunday numbers will tell. If Sunday manages growth, then it will mean that Eid gave minimal benefit.

At present there does look like Sunday growth but Sunday always has stronger advances and it remains to be seen how it goes. The film has collected over 50 crore till now which is a good number though the film still has work to do. The growth came all over but it was better outside the bigger multiplexes.

The film is doing well in most circuits and overseas also scored big as it collected $1.4 million with excellent collections in Gulf and United Kingdon. The opening came out highest for Akshay Kumar in overseas which was expected from the advances. The film is overall is in a good position and its going to be all about the weekdays.

The collections of HOUSEFULL 5 till date are as follows.
Friday - 22,00,00,000
Saturday - 28,25,00,000
TOTAL - 50,25,00,000

Housefull 5 collects 22 cr on Day 1; third biggest opener of 2025

HOUSEFULL 5 scored a good opening day as it collected 22 crore nett with strong collections in practically all the circuits. The film came up well in current although the advances suggested a lower opening. The opening is comfortably the highest for the franchise and its the first time that the franchise has gone over 20 crore nett. However, the franchise value is also much higher today than when the last film was released. Rajasthan looks best followed by Delhi/UP.

The film has done well to get to this mark but when a franchise film gives an initial push, it also has the expectations from the previous parts. Here, HOUSEFULL 5 is a genuine sequel/series film and not like a KESARI where a lesser number still is okay as that sequel factor is an after thought and the film has not been made as a sequel. Eventually the film has to go higher or similar to the last film and time will tell if the initial is good enough for that.

The relief is that the film has got over 20 crore which looked a best case scenario on Thursday night and its about the film going on from here. Its a holiday weekend with Eid falling on Saturday though it will be limited help on Saturday as Saturday normally grows well anyway. Here, it should be a bit more than normal.

The HOUSEFULL series has always done well post the initial and it remains to be seen if the same happens here and if it does, it will be a sure shot winner. The difference here is the film is more for the youth than families as per the reports but first day has seen very good collections in a state like Gujarat. So, maybe it could be fine with families also. The collections in Gujarat are pretty similar to CHHAAVA which opened best this year in that circuit.

Overall, its a good start and the weekend should also be strong but its all going to be about that crucial Monday and a hold which allows it to run for a few weeks.
------------------------------------
HOUSEFULL 5 had the third highest opening day of 2024 as it collected 22 crore nett behind CHHAAVA and SIKANDAR. The film also picked up the highest opening day of the franchise beating the 17 crore nett of HOUSEFULL 4. It is third film to go over 20 crore nett this year and with almost half the year gone, there is no 30 crore nett plus film as yet.

The film has collected better than SIKANDAR in some circuits which was aided by a Sunday release though the franchise factor for HOUSEFULL 5 will compensate for that. The top ten opening days are listed below but most of these films have what would be at best called manufactured box office. But its all to different extents, some are very minimal while others have done much more but the fact remains it is there in almost every film. In the list below there are only two films which are totally clean which have zero feeding and zero aid via deals from makers.

This is embedded in the industry now and various strategies are being used and will continue to happen and nothing can really be done as mainly its to give a better perception to the film as expectations are struggling to be met. Third party agencies, which actually get people sitting on seats, has made it easier as it does not go through the exhibition sector. Hence, there is less noise of feeding and with seats occupied it looks normal.

There are blockbusters, hits, average and flop films which have indulged in this and the only way it will stop is when film actually start to do better as nobody really wants to waste money. However, they have no choice as its a circles as when one does the other also has to do
