SARFIRA had a dull weekend of 11.25 crore nett with the film being put on the back foot on day one itself. There was growth over the weekend but that is anyway going to come from such a low opening number. The trend hardly matters when this start is low unless the Friday to Sunday growth is extraordinary like 125% or more but that is likely only for small films.

The film seems to have a Maharashtra base but the area has not really outperformed which could have helped the film. Now its down to Monday being more than Friday which is an unlikely scenario.

HINDUSTANI 2 fared poorly collecting a little over 3 crore nett in its opening weekend with a flat weekend. The film also could not do well in the South where it collected around the 60 crore nett mark over 3 days if we count all formats. For the South version, the day one was easily the best day.

The collections of HINDUSTANI 2 in Hindi are as follows.

Friday - 1,10,00,000

Saturday - 1,00,00,000

Sunday - 1,15,00,000

KALKI 2898 AD showed huge growth on its third Saturday as collections more than doubled for the film as it collected 7.25 crore nett from the 3.50 crore nett on Friday. The film had a 9.75 crore nett third weekend so far with the Sunday to come. The total collections of the film are around 233 crore nett. The all India collections of the film should cross 550 crore nett by the end of its third weekend. The film has a shot at 600 crore nett but it will be tough.

SARFIRA showed growth of around 60% as it collected in the 4 crore nett range adding to the 2.50 crore nett on the first day. This means a 6.50 crore nett total in the first two days. The opening day is the killer which is the case with every other film. Now its becomes about Monday being better than Friday which is always a huge ask and even if you get it, its just about a run and not success.

HINDUSTANI 2 (Hindi) was flat on day two with collections around 1 crore nett which took the film to 2.10 crore nett apprx over two days. The film has faced total rejection. At an all India level, the film collected nearly 25 crore nett on day one with a good performance in Nizam/Andhra but collections are down everywhere with Nizam/Andhra looking to take biggest hit.

The two new releases could not do much on opening day as both took dull openings with SARFIRA being the better of the two. SARFIRA collected around the 2.50 crore nett which is pretty much in the same range as films like SELFIEE and MISSION RANIGANJ.

The film has been ready a long time and is one those content/concept films which used to work well at a level before the pandemic. The film is also a remake of a South Indian film which has a Hindi version. It may have already been seen by many and post pandemic these type of films have not really worked. Akshay Kumar will probably need a franchise film to get out of this rut

The other release, HINDUSTANI 2, (Hindi), was a dull affair collecting in the 1.10-1.15 crore nett range. The film should have done better in mass pockets but collections were not really there.

The film is a sequel to the 1996 film HINDUSTANI which did very well in Hindi and was even a BLOCBUSTER in Mumbai circuit. But there seems no brand value as far as the Hindi audiences go. The 1996 film was a record breaker in Tamil Nadu and here also, the film has taken the best opening of the year in the state. The film has also scored very good numbers in Nizam/Andhra where the original film did very well.

Basically down South, HINDUSTANI 2 (released as INDIAN 2 in Tamil) has done good business on opening day but Hindi circuits are very bad. The all India business of the film is probably a little over 20 crore nett.
