HINDI MEDIUM scored very well in its second weekend as it grossed 10.85 crore nett apprx compared to the 11.79 crore nett in its first weekend which is a drop of 8%. The film came into its own over the weekdays and has continued that run in the second week. The film has found an audience in the metros and these metros will keep it going for a few weeks and could even go close to 50 crore nett. Mumbai circuit is best due to the tax exemption in Mumbai and Pune. The business till date of HINDI MEDIUM is as follows.

HALF GIRLFRIEND had a big drop in its second weekend as it grossed around 4.75 crore nett. The business was down 85% and with this drop the lifetime business looks to be around 55 crore nett. The film could not compete with the films around it like BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION, SACHIN: A BILLION DREAMS and HINDI MEDIUM and needed a solo second week or weaker competition to cross 60 crore nett. HINDI MEDIUM had an excellent second Friday of 2.25-2.50 crore nett apprx which has taken its eight day total to around 24.50 crore nett. There is hardly any drop from day one and this has come despite the competition from SACHIN: A BILLION DREAMS and PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: SALAZAR'S REVENGE. The film came into its own over the weekdays and has continued that run in the second week. The film will have a very strong second week which should be similar to the first weekend but the weekdays may be lower compared to the first week. Overall the film is a success and could even go to 50 crore nett in terms of lifetime which would mean its costs more or less covered by India theatrical.

HALF GIRLFRIEND dropped on its eighth day with collections in the 1.25-1.50 crore nett region. The film has collected around 48.50 crore nett till now but this low eighth day makes it tough the film. The film could not collect in the face of competition and probably needed a clearer run in the second week to hold. The film should jump well on Saturday but the weekend is going to remain low. The film has suffered with low collections in Delhi city and East Punjab especially the latter. With these not doing too well, the multiplex business is always on the lower side and eventually its multiplexes which will sustain this type of film.

HALF GIRLFRIEND had a decent first week collection of 47 crore nett but after a good weekend the film just about managed to stay above water on the weekdays. The film had a noticeable drop on Monday and then normal falls over the weekdays. The film is depending on the second weekend and it makes the second Friday crucial as that has to be decent for it to record respectable second week figures. The main plus for the film is the opening and if it does pull through it will be mainly down to the initial.

HINDI MEDIUM has average first week collections of 23 crore nett but a strong weekday trend which should see a very healthy second week total. In fact it will probably beat the second week of HALF GIRLFRIEND despite the first week only being 50% of HALF GIRLFRIEND. The film has not been appreciated in many areas but has found a strong liking by the metro crowd and that will be more than enough for the film. The tax exemption in Maharashtra has really helped its cause in Mumbai and Pune and Delhi NCR has done well as the film has the local flavour. The film has chances to emerge a HIT depending on the business over the next few days.

HALF GIRLFRIEND had a decent first weekend as it crossed the 30 crore nett mark but considering the start it could have been better. The film has done reasonably well in all circuits with the problem being the Saturday growth. The Sunday figures may have been affected by the IPL final though BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION (Hindi) had no such problems against the cricket match.  A 35 crore nett weekend from a 10 crore nett start would have been a good result for the film and a good hold on Monday could have made it a clean hit but now the Monday hold is needed to become a success. The film did not follow through on Sunday but that could be due to the IPL final though as mentioned above BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION (Hindi) had no such issues on Sunday. The film has a tax exemption in Maharashtra which has really helped the cause of the film and now it will need Monday to be similar to Friday if it is to have a good run at the box office. HALF GIRLFRIEND had a fair Monday as the film dropped a little over 50% from Friday. The film grossed around 4.75 crore nett which has taken the total of the film to 35.75 crore nett. The film held better at mass centres than the big multiplexes on Monday. The drop is probably the wrong side of 50% for it to have a good run but with there being limited competition in its second week it could be an average runner but that will depend on where the second Friday lands. The Monday is actually better than the weekend trend suggested on which a big drop looked inevitable. The film has fared best in best in Central India and Bihar while East Punjab and Mysore have under performed. The first four day collections of HALF GIRLFRIEND are as follows.

HINDI MEDIUM had a strong hold on Monday as collections went a little higher than Friday on Monday. The film grossed 2.75 crore nett on Monday to take its four day total to 14.25 crore nett which is still a low total but with this strong hold on Monday it is set for a good run over the next few weeks which should mean a good final total. The film has found appreciation in the metros and the tax exemption has helped hugely in Mumbai and Pune which are putting up very strong numbers. Delhi NCR and Bangalore are also doing well. It is going to be the first small niche film that is going to do good business this year so far. The first four day business of HINDI MEDIUM is as follows.

HALF GIRLFRIEND picked up another decent number on Saturday with around 10-10.25 crore nett but the problem was that the film was flat and collections similar to Friday. The growth came in metros and Punjab but that was because it had under performed here on day one. The places that started well showed small drops. After the start, the film needed to grow just 15-20% on Saturday to ensure success but that has not happened and now its depending on the weekday business. There is the IPL final which may affect Sunday and the Sunday collections may not have the normal trajectory. The first two day collections of HALF GIRLFRIEND are as follows.

HINDI MEDIUM showed good growth on Saturday as it collected around 4 crore nett which is 60% higher than Friday. The collections still remain low but the Saturday numbers have given it a chance for a run and now its is about the Monday numbers. This film also may not get the normal Sunday due to the IPL final. HALF GIRLFRIEND had a good first day as it grossed 10 crore nett with good collections in cities outside the big metros. The metros like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore were average. The opening is third best ever for an Arjun Kapoor starrer after GUNDAY and 2 STATES while for Shraddha Kapoor its is fourth best after EK VILLAIN, ABCD 2 and BAAGHI. It is the fifth best opening of this year after BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION (Hindi), RAEES, JOLLY LLB 2 and BADRINATH KI DULHANIA though it was a smaller release than all those films.

The film will just need to show normal weekend trend to put up a good weekend and if that can happen then Monday will be the telling point as to what it can do. The music helped the film take an initial and the next few days will tell if the film has the content as the director Mohit Suri had a bad one last time out with HAMARI ADHURI KAHANI which failed totally failed to take off even with good music.

HINDI MEDIUM grossed 2.50 crore nett on day one which is low but it will be about the Saturday growth for this film and more importantly Monday has to hold in the Friday range.
