GOLD dropped in week two as it grossed 12.75 crore nett which takes the two week total of the film to 101 crore nett. The film saw a drop across the board in all circuits. It has maanged to squeeze past the 100 crore nett mark but that is pretty much irrelevant as this meant something five years ago but not today. The real test is 1 crore footfalls and GOLD will fall short leaving SANJU, PADMAAVAT, BAAGHI 2, RACE 3 and RAAZI being the only films to hit this mark in 2018. The film has a decent result commercially speaking thanks to the holidays in the first week.

There will be losses in Overseas as it was an acquisition there but the main thing is that it should have done more business in India and held on better.

SATYAMEVA JAYATE will finish in the 80 crore nett range and a share in the 40 crore range which is a big result for the film especially considering that it clashed with GOLD which was a bigger film. The clash has worked out well for the film as it managed to get a big first day audience which was a huge surprise. It was not a surprise that it managed to collect on the national holiday but how much it collected was surprise for sure.

GOLD saw a big drop in collections as it grossed 9.25 crore nett in its second weekend which has taken its business to 97 crore nett apprx. The collections were low over the weekend though Sunday got a decent number due to Raksha Bandhan.

The drop is around 78% if we take the first three days of the first week and the second weekend and 70% is what is called a normal drop. The film is mainly for the big cities which has meant low business in many circuits and its the holiday numbers in these places which has led to reasonable collections. The film has opened up a gap against SATYAMEVA JAYATE as it is around 45% ahead in second week compared to being 30% ahead in the first week. But being a content film the gap should have been more in second weekend.

But with this drop on its second Friday it does mean the business of the film will be low in the second week and a 15 crore nett week two is not likely. The film is doing decent business in the metros at the start of the second week and not anywhere else. An early estimate of its lifetime business is around 105 crore nett.
