GODZILLA x KONG: THE NEW EMPIRE has seen good hold on Monday as it collected in the 5.75-6 crore nett range. The drop is a little over 50% from the first day which was a holiday and that to when over 50% of the business was coming from the South markets of Nizam/Andhra, Mysore, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

The film is a HIT and the first for Hollywood in India since MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: DEAD RECKONING - PART ONE and OPPENHEIMER in July 2023. MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: DEAD RECKONING - PART ONE, FAST X and OPPENHEIMER  were the biggest grossers from Hollywood in 2023, getting close to or crossing the 110 crore nett mark. It remains to be seen where GODZILLA x KONG: THE NEW EMPIRE goes from here.

The total of the film is 43.50 crore nett so far and the Monday hold does suggest it should do 100 crore nett plus. But it still has a heavy contribution from South which does not hold as well as the Hindi circuits and the creature films are frontloaded. It will however cross the film business of the last film in the franchise in one week.

GODZILLA x KONG: THE NEW EMPIRE had good first day with huge collections in Tamil Nadu. The collections were also very good in other South circuits though it faced local competition in Nizam/Andhra. The business in the Hindi markets could have been better as practically all circuits were less than CREW. The film collected around 12.75 crore nett across India.

This is the highest opening day collection for Hollywood in 2023 and 2024 beating FAST X and MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: DEAD RECKONING - PART ONE. The collections in Tamil Nadu were a huge 3 crore nett apprx and this is among the top five collections ever in the circuit for a Hollywood film. Almost 23% of the business has come from Tamil Nadu. The South contribution was around 50% while Hindi circuits added the other 50%.

The numbers were expected to be a bit higher in South especially in Mysore but as they did not come, it means the film should hold up better on Saturday as the major drop would have come in South if all circuits had behaved like Tamil Nadu. The opening day ensures a HIT film and easily the biggest of the franchise.
