I am an actress and I hope to act till I am 80 years of age-Amy Jackson

Lakshmi V (BOMBAY TIMES; July 22, 2020)

It has been a couple of years since Amy Jackson did a film here — her last release was Shankar-Rajinikanth’s 2.0 in 2018 — but the actress admits that she misses India and facing the arc light.

“I miss being in India. The country not only made me grow as an actress, but also as a person. I was in my teens when I came here to shoot my first-ever film, (Tamil star) Vijay’s Madrasapattinam. In the years since, I have learnt to become independent and dedicated, and I’m still willing to learn. You can get all the opportunity you want, but if you are not willing to dedicate yourself to perfect that craft, there’s no point. I understood that and that helped me grow,” says Amy from her home in the UK.

In her eight-year-long career, Amy has worked with some of the biggest names in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada film industries. Ask her if there is something she’d like to change about her career graph, and she answers, “I am one of those people who go with my heart and instinct. I had no experience with films. At that point, becoming an actress was one of those unachievable things. Hollywood, Bollywood, Kollywood… I didn’t think of it seriously. Obviously, there are certain things that I look back to now and go, ‘Ugh!’ But hey, I was a teenager then. I love every character that I played and participated wholeheartedly in every film I did. I think towards the last five years, I was concentrating on doing female-oriented scripts and playing strong female roles. And I think it worked out well for me from the start till now. I won’t say it’s finished, I want it to continue. Yes, there are certain aspects…. Things that I know now, I wish I had known earlier. But I think that’s age, and that’s maturing. And, I wouldn’t change anything.”

While Amy doesn’t rule out the possibility of returning to the big screen, she says her family is her priority now. “I am an actress and I hope to act till I am 80 years of age. So yes, I definitely need the right kind of project. Also, Andreas (her son, who will turn one this September) has to grow up a little, so he can travel with me. George (Panayiotou), as a father, is fantastic. I also have a great mom, who supports me when I am working here. So, maybe George can visit with our whole family when I’m shooting and that will just be so nice,” she signs off.

On Mother’s Day (which is celebrated in UK on March 31), actress Amy Jackson made a rather lovely announcement on her social media page — that she is expecting her first child with fiancé George Panayiotou. They chose to share the good news by posting a romantic silhouette picture with a message. Amy’s photo caption read, “I’ve been waiting to shout it from the roof tops, and today, being Mother’s Day couldn’t be more perfect… I already love you more than anything in this world, the purest most honest love. We can’t wait to meet you our little Libra one.”

Amy got engaged to George on New Year’s. She had posted a photo with her engagement ring, which she’d captioned as “1st January 2019 — The start of our new adventure in life. I love you. Thank you for making me the happiest girl in the world.”

The (Robot) 2.0 actress and George have been together for the past three years now. Multi-millionaire businessman George is the son of British property developer Andreas Panayiotou. The Panayiotous own a chain of luxury hotels.

Amy Jackson announced her engagement to long-time boyfriend George Panayiotou on January 1, 2019, on social media. The couple, however, isn’t in a hurry to walk down the aisle. “Amy and George want to tie the knot in early-2020. It will be a Greek wedding,” says a source.

The 2.0 actress and her fiancé have already kicked off the preparations for a destination wedding. “After considering several locations, they decided on Greece because she wanted a beach-side venue for her special day. They are looking at villas near Mykonos Island and will tie the knot as per Christian rituals. Amy fell in love with the beautiful locale when she visited it last year with her husband-to-be,” the source adds. The shaadi will be attended by a few close friends and family members. It remains to be seen if Amy will host a reception for her friends and colleagues in Bollywood and the Southern film industry. “She plans to settle in the UK after getting married,” the source tells us.

The year 2017 was witness to one of the biggest celebrity marriages when Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli decided to have an Italian destination wedding. This year, as many as three Bollywood actors are likely to settle into marital bliss. It has been reported that Sonam Kapoor plans to tie the knot with boyfriend Anand Ahuja in the next few months and Varun Dhawan also wants his relationship with girlfriend Natasha Dalal to culminate into marriage. Now, Amy Jackson, the leading lady of films like Singh Is Bliing and the upcoming Rajinikanth-starrer 2.0, has joined the list.

Amy had been sharing several pictures with her boyfriend on social media, but she decided to make her relationship official when she wished the hunk on Valentine’s Day. For those not in the know, she is dating multi-millionaire George Panayiotou. He is the son of British property developer Andreas Panayiotou who owns a chain of luxury hotels. George assists his father in the family business and is also the founder of PlayGround nightclub at Liverpool.

The duo has been together for quite sometime. One of her contemporaries confirms the development, saying, “Amy has been in a steady relationship for the longest time now. She just didn’t want to open up about her personal life to the public. She kept her affair hidden from the prying eyes of the media for a long time.”

The model-turned-actress is also set to take the plunge soon. Adds our source, “Amy and George are a happy couple. She always wanted to have a family of her own. She’s planning to get married sometime later this year. The couple is currently deciding on the date and venue for their D-Day.”

Our source states that the British actress has been planning this for a while. “Amy wanted to tie the knot last year. But it didn’t work out then. Finally, now they are chalking out a plan.” So, the leggy lass will turn missus by the end of 2018!

Amy Jackson’s luxurious getaways with multi-millionaire beau George Panayiotou has sent social media into a tizzy. The 26-year-old actress, who shuttles between India for films and modelling assignments in her hometown of London, met the UK based businessman in 2015 through mutual friends and the two have been going steady for the last three four months. George, son of real estate magnate Andreas Panayiotou and a well-known party animal, owns an upscale nightclub in the Queens’s City.

“After bringing in Christmas and New Year’s with family in the UK last year, Amy and George took off to Mexico with a group of close friends. They stayed at a cozy cottage in Tulum — an exotic and quaint beach town in the Carribbean islands. Two weeks later, the couple also brought in Amy’s birthday together,” a source close to the model-actress told Mirror, adding that the love birds kicked off Valentine’s Day celebrations a week earlier with a quick trip to Canada’s snow-capped Whistler Blackcomb, a popular skiing and adventure sports destination. They stayed at a resort for three days,” the source added.

On the work front, Amy is gearing up for the release of the bi-lingual 2.0, which features her alongside Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar. She is also playing the recurring character of Saturn Girl on the hit American TV series, Supergirl.
