GADAR 2 is closing in on the lifetime record collections of BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONLCUSION and PATHAAN as it reached 510 crore nett after five weeks. The film should be be away ahead by now due to the appreciation but the clash with OMG 2 and then JAWAN curtailing its run has meant its a slow pace to get above the 512 crore nett mark.

A solo release for the film would have meant far higher numbers and maybe even a 600 crore nett number. But the industry got more than 600 crore nett with both the films which released on Independence week. The highlight for the film are the collections in Rajasthan. No doubt some other circuits have put crazy numbers but the desert state is simply mind boggling.

The drop in the fifth week is a huge 80% and that is the difference a big release makes when the screen count shows a huge drop. The fifth week collections are well short of BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONLCUSION and PATHAAN despite putting up near record numbers for four weeks.

GADAR 2 collected 3.50 crore nett in its fifth weekend to take its overall total to 508 crore nett as it closes in to be the biggest HINDI nett grosser The collections took a big hit this weekend due to JAWAN as otherwise it would have crossed PATHAAN and BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONLCUSION.

The film is still well enough for the number of shows it has got with good occupancy wherever it is being screened. and now there is a no major release for sometime which will enable the film to hold the shows or even get more in the next week. Despite the drop, the film can still get close to the 520 crore nett mark as it is still collecting well in the Hindi speaking mass belts.

The stand out performance for the film is Rajasthan and if it keeps on running into October, it would be no surprise if the film hits the 40 crore nett benchmark in the desert state. It would mean smashing the previous record by an insane 10 crore nett. This is at a time when Rajasthan has lost all those fixed hire centres and is released on far less cinemas as compared to the time when BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONLCUSION got 30 crore nett or DANGAL got 20 crore nett.

GADAR 2 had a fantastic fourth week with collections in the 26.50 crore nett range. It is the third highest fourth week of all time after BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONLCUSION and URI. These are the only three films with 25 crore nett plus in week four. The only other film to get over even 20 crore nett in week four is KGF - CHAPTER 2.

There was the expected drop on the last day of the week due to JAWAN and a huge reduction of shows but still the film had fantastic collections in Gujarat of over 30 lakhs nett. The film will also be the first in history to hit 125 crore nett in both Mumbai and Delhi/UP. The records have fallen or are going to fall across all Hindi belts and the film is on its way towards creating HISTORY as it becomes the highest grossing Hindi film of all time.

GADAR 2 has around 7-8 crore nett to cover which it should do in a week or two. JAWAN has put the breaks on and it had a clash limiting the shows and competition around it but it remained an unstoppable force. The business is very limited down South but it has been an unparalleled craze across Hindi speaking markets as the dialogues and scenes become iconic again. Basically history has just repeated itself like in 2001 (when GADAR - EK PREM KATHA had released).

GADAR 2 saw collections come down on its fifth Friday as it collected around 85 lakhs nett. The drop is 80% as compared to last Friday mainly due to the release of JAWAN as there is a huge reduction of shows.

The total collections of the film are now are 505 crore nett plus but it should settle from here and should be looking to reach the 510 crore nett mark by the end of the fifth week. The film is now close to being the second biggest grosser ever in Mumbai circuit thanks to a phenomenal Gujarat which is still going strong.

East Punjab is heading for an ALL TIME RECORD also in the next few days and though many would have expected this circuit to lead, it was always unlikely as business in Punjab (political) is not what it used to be before the pandemic. There is improvement but its very slow and at a tedious pace. The fact this film has reached 50 crore nett in the circuit is a miracle and it will need the circuit to recover well for these numbers to be beaten.
