PIKU held up very well in week two grossing around 22 crore nett which was a similar collection to the new release BOMBAY VELVET as it also grossed that much in week one. The drop from week one is less than 50% which is very good trending. The film should be able to do 75 crore nett and maybe even hit 80 crore nett.

The best performance is in West Bengal where the film should cross 6 crore nett which is excellent and easily beats BABY at 4 crore nett which was the top grosser before PIKU.

Mumbai and Mysore are also very good with Mumbai expected to cross 25 crore nett and Mysore should comfortably cross 6 crore nett. Mass dominated circuits like CP, CI and Bihar have not done well. -----------------------------------------
GABBAR IS BACK is the biggest grosser of 2015 as it has collected 84 crore nett approx in three weeks. The film has done well despite competition from new releases over the last two weeks. BOMBAY VELVET did not provide competition but GABBAR IS BACK lost a lot of screen space due to its release especially in single screens. Its pretty clear that GABBAR IS BACK would have done better in these screens despite being in week three.

The performance in Bihar is very good where it will be amongst the top fifteen grossing films. It will not reach top 25 in any other circuit.

The film should just about cross the 85 crore nett mark with a distributor share of 43.50 crore apprx.

PIKU had a very strong second weekend as it grossed 13.25 crore nett which is the best second weekend of the year beating the figures of GABBAR IS BACK. The second weekend business of PIKU is as follows.
Friday - 2,75,00,000
Saturday - 4,75,00,000
Sunday - 5,75,00,000
TOTAL - 13,25,00,000

The film has grossed over 53 crore nett in ten days and is heading for a 75 crore nett plus lifetime. The film has found good appreciation amongst the gentry audience with the two premium multiplex chains contributing over 50% of its all India business.
----------------------
GABBAR IS BACK has become the highest grossing film of 2015 as it added around 3.25 crore nett in its third weekend taking it to 82 crore nett which puts it past the previous highest grosser BABY.

The film should cross 85 crore nett for lifetime business which is pretty good especially as the initial could have been better. The film is the highest grosser of 2015 in Delhi/UP, East Punjab, Rajasthan, CP Berar, CI, Nizam/Andhra, Bihar, Assam and Orissa.

The film will not hit top spot in the other circuits as BABY will hold number in Mumbai while PIKU is on top in West Bengal in just ten days and it will go top after its second week in Mysore and Tamil Nadu/Kerala.

Piku 42.75 cr in 8 days; Gabbar Is Back 79.75 cr in 15 days

Box Office India Trade Network

PIKU held up very well on day eight grossing around 2.75 crore nett which is less than 50% drop from first weekend. The film is putting up very good numbers in Mumbai, West Bengal and Mysore.

The failure of BOMBAY VELVET will help the film in week two and it should get a bug jump on Saturday. The weekend should cross 12 crore ar least and may even become the highest second weekend of the year

GABBAR IS BACK grossed 75 laks nett on its third Friday which us 75% drop from last Friday. This is reasonable as multiplex business was hut due to the release of BOMBAY VELVET and PIKU going strong which meant those two films covered most of the screens at multiplexes.

Piku 40 cr in Week 1; Gabbar Is Back 79 cr in 2 weeks

Box Office India Trade Network

PIKU did well in its first week grossing around 40 crore nett. The film had a poor start but gained momentum from Saturday and has maintained very well in the metros. The other major cities have also maintained well but the collections here are on the lower side. Cities like Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore are set to give the best collections of the year.

The performance of these of these cities means that Mumbai, West Bengal and Mysore are the best performers while Rajasthan, CP Berar, CI and Bihar have low numbers although have held very well since on Monday

The film should remain strong in the big cities over the next couple of weeks which should take it to a good lifetime total.
-----------------------
GABBAR IS BACK held up well in week two grossing around 18.75 crore nett taking its two week total to 79 crore nett. The drop from the first week was around 67% which is a decent trend for a mass film like GABBAR IS BACK.

The film did have competition at metro multiplexes from PIKU but at many centres its second week collections were better than PIKU, in fact better than both the new releases (PIKU and KUCH KUCH LOCHA HAI) put together. It is the highest grossing film of 2015 in many circuits in two weeks and should become the highest grossing film Hindi film of 2015 by the end of its run.

The film will cross 3 crore nett in Bihar which is more than double the business of any other releases of 2015.

GABBAR IS BACK continued it's decent run on it'd second Monday grossing around 1.75 crore nett. The approx first four day business of GABBAR IS BACK in week two is as follows.
Friday - 2,75,00,000
Saturday - 4,25,00,000
Sunday - 5,50,00,000
Monday -1,75,00,000 approx
TOTAL - 14,25,00,000

The second week will gross around 19 crore nett which would be highest week two collection of the year. The film will be at around 78 crore nett after two weeks.

Gabbar Is Back collects 72 cr in 10 days

Gabbar Is Back
Box Office India Trade Network

GABBAR IS BACK did well in its second weekend with business of around 12.75 crore nett which is a drop of around 67% from the first weekend. The total is 72 crore nett in ten days and the film is on course to be the biggest grosser of 2015.

The film may even emerge the first real hit of the year but depends as the 40 crore distributor share is there but it has to go over 45 crore to be a hit and for that it has get numbers in week three and week four. The film did get some competition from PIKU from Saturday onwards but as the business in premium multiplexes wasn't that great anyway it did not make much difference to the film.

The film is already the biggest grosser of 2015 in Rajasthan, CP Berar, CI, Nizam/Andhra, Bihar, Assam and Orissa. Delhi/UP should also become number one by the end of the week.

GABBAR IS BACK had a decent eighth day as it grossed around 2.75 crore nett. The fall is around 75% but the first day was a holiday in some parts of the country. The film will easily clear 10 crore nett for the weekend and maybe even go to 12 crore nett.

The collections are better than new release PIKU in Gujarat/Saurashtra, Rajasthan and Bihar. Surprisingly a multiplex circuit like East Punjab is also doing well enough even though normally it does not perform too well for this type of mass film. The collections are low in West Bengal and Mysore.

The film will cover it's price for the all India distributor but profits will be limited as week three is likely to see a drop in business.

Gabbar Is Back collects 58.50 cr in Week 1

Box Office India Trade Network

GABBAR IS BACK held up well from Monday after a fair weekend. The film grossed 58.50 crore nett in week one which is easily the best of the year beating the 52 crore nett of BABY, another Akshay Kumar starrer. GABBAR IS BACK had two partial holiday but BABY had the much bigger Republic Day holiday which is a bigger advantage.

The film has put up good to decent figures in most circuits. Mysore is low but that is expected for this type of film. Mysore is the only circuit where collections are less than BABY.

The second week is all important for the film as it must hold well, it has chances to be highest grosser of year but if it falls short it should have the highest distributor share of the year as it clocked up a 30 crore plus share in week one and should beat the 38 crore of BABY.

Gabbar Is Back collects 50.65 cr in 5 days

GABBAR IS BACK dropped on Tuesday which was expected as it was a holiday in parts of the country on Monday. Delhi/UP alone lost around 50 laks nett. The approx first five day business of GABBAR IS BACK is as follows.
Friday - 12,30,00,000
Saturday - 10,90,00,000
Sunday - 15,25,00,000
Monday - 6,85,00,000
Tuesday - 5,25,00,000 apporx
TOTAL - 50,65,00,000

The collections should hold up better on Wednesday and the film should go to around 59 crore nett for the week.

Gabbar Is Back excellent on Monday; collects 45.45 cr in 4 days

GABBAR IS BACK held up well on Monday though was helped by holiday in parts of the country. The drop in under 45% from Friday which was also a holiday in parts of the country. The approx first four day business of GABBAR IS BACK is as follows.
Friday - 12,30,00,000
Saturday - 10,90,00,000
Sunday - 15,25,00,000
Monday -7,00,00,000 approx
TOTAL - 45,45,00,000

The week can go to 60 crore nett as long as Tuesday does not show a major fall. The second week is crucial for the film as third week will see a huge reduction of screen space due to the release of another big film BOMBAY VELVET.

GABBAR IS BACK has scored well on Sunday with an approx 15 crore nett total. It could even be a little more depending on the final figure in Mumbai. The weekend has gone to around 38.50 crore thanks to the good Sunday business. There were huge jumps in business in many circuits like Delhi/UP, East Punjab and Rajasthan. The approx first three day business of GABBAR IS BACK is as follows.
Friday - 12,30,00,000
Saturday - 10,90,00,000
Sunday - 15,30,00,000
TOTAL - 38,50,00,000

There is a holiday in places like Delhi, MP and Mumbai for Buddha Purnima on Monday. So, it should have a good Monday and the trend does look positive due to the good business on Sunday. The overall weekend figure is not good but is par for the course and now a 60 crore nett week which would be pretty good is a possibility.

GABBAR IS BACK has an outside chance of being that first real hit of the year with probaby the window being the major hurdle. Next week films will not pose much of a problem but it's run maybe cut short with the release of the BOMBAY VELVET. If the weekend was 10-15% higher then the window would not be an issue.

Gabbar Is Back collects 12.27 cr on Day 1

Box Office India Trade Network

GABBAR IS BACK is has had a good first day as it grossed 12.27 crore nett but the holiday factor added around 1.50 crore nett. It would have been more but Marathi film TIMEPASS 2 which smashed all records in Maharashtra (outside Mumbai city and Pune) including HAPPY NEW YEAR and DHOOM 3

GABBAR IS BACK did well in Maharashtra but could have been better if the Marathi film was not there. The collections in Mumbai will be 3.75 crore nett plus while Delhi/ UP is around 2.30 crore nett. The film had record opening for Akshay Kumar starrer in Mysore of 61 lakhs nett but it happened because it was holiday.

Overall the near 12 crore nett number may seem good as a number but in real terms it would have been good if it was not a part holiday. The film really needed a 14 crore nett plus number as a drop is inevitable today. Basically the film has to record to the same number on Saturday as Friday if the film has to have a chance to cover. This would give it a chance of taking its weekend to near 40 crore but Saturday being same as Friday will be tough.
