It's a race against time for USA cinemas

Box Office India Trade Network
The cinemas in USA were expected to open in the first and second week of July but now it seems a race against time and they will have to delay the opening. The government has given the go ahead but its unlikely that many state governments will now allow due to rising cases of Coronavirus. It is very difficult to see cinemas opening up in early July in most of California, Texas or Florida though New York could see cinemas return.
The importance of USA cinemas is due to content. There are cinemas open in many places in the world and more will open in early July but the content has to come from Hollywood and that can only happen when majority of the cinemas in USA open which is the domestic market for Hollywood. TENET was scheduled to be a 17th July release but was then pushed to 31st July and now moves to 12th August as the opening of cinemas gets delayed. MULAN is now scheduled to be the first major release but a lot depends on how many cinemas will be open by that time in USA.
The markets which are open with a healthy number of screens at present are as follows.
South Korea (did not shut down)
Japan (shutdown for 2-3 weeks in April)
Vietnam
Hong Kong
Thailand
Australia
New Zealand
UAE
Netherlands
Denmark
Switzerland
Sweden
Norway
Finland
Iceland
Czech Republic
Croatia
Slovakia
Estonia
Hungary
Italy
Spain
Germany
Poland
South Korea and Japan are seeing the best turnout and here the former country did not shut down theatres while the latter had for a very limited time. As the reopening of cinemas in US is delayed it will put the date for India further also as the content for India will also come from Hollywood as cinemas try to reopen.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is on a three-week recce in the US for his next, which is expected to go on the floors by August-end
Himesh Mankad (MUMBAI MIRROR; June 20, 2019)
Mirror was the first to report (February 23) that Salman Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali are set to reunite 20 years after Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam with a contemporary love story, which goes on the floors in the second half of the year. Soon after, it was revealed that the film, titled Inshallah, will feature Alia Bhatt in the lead and is gearing up for an Eid 2020 release. Now, we have learnt that Bhansali and his team are currently on a recce in the US.According to a source close to the development, the team will be in the country for the next three weeks as they search for ideal shooting locations in the state of Florida. “The prime spots on their wish-list are the streets of Orlando and the beaches of Miami,” the source informed, adding that Salman’s character, of a 40-something businessman, is based in Orlando, a city in central Florida. “It’s a character that’s young at heart and Salman will sport a stylish look, complete with designer jackets and sunglasses.”
Before flying to the US, Bhansali and his team visited Varanasi, Rishikesh and Haridwar. “Alia’s character (of an aspiring actress in her mid-20s) is from a place that is situated near the river Ganga, which is why Bhansali is contemplating on these locations,” the source informed. The real-life age difference between the leads forms the core of Bhansali’s story which, according to the source, is a humorous tale of love rooted in the Indian culture. SLB has worked on the script for almost two years, and apart from the two leads, an ensemble is being cast for the film.
Inshallah is expected to go on the floors by August-end, once Salman is done filming his copdrama, Dabangg 3, which marks his return as Chulbul Pandey after seven years. Alia, on the other hand, will wrap up work on her debut home production, Sadak 2, as well as a major chunk of Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra co-starring Ranbir Kapoor. Following the Bhansali film, she moves on to Karan Johar’s period-drama Takht. With Inshallah, Salman steps out of the larger-than-life zone, while SLB will be taking a break from intense dramas after Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat. “It’s a younger film, the kind I’ve wanted to make for a long time after all the dark, intense, over dramatic ones. Life is not only about dark nights, it’s also about beautiful sunshiny mornings. It’s a new chapter for me as a filmmaker,” Bhansali had earlier told Mirror (March 20).

Akshay Kumar, who has taken to reserving the month of June for his annual family vacations with wife Twinkle Khanna and their kids, Aarav and Nitara, has left for this year’s destination. But it’s a different holiday this time.
On Wednesday night, for the first leg of their holiday, the 49-year-old actor-filmmaker flew to Florida only with his teenaged son, Aarav. “The first eight days of our vacation have been reserved for some father-son bonding. Aarav and I will be in Tampa, Florida, where we intend to drive around a couple of beach destinations. We will also indulge in some adventure sports like surfing, and snorkelling. There is an itinerary in place but I also intend to add some surprises to the trip along the way. I had always wanted to do this and Aarav was game for it!” Akshay told Mirror before boarding his flight.
After eight days, on June 7, Akshay and Aarav will leave for London. “My wife and daughter Nitara will join us there,’’ he confirmed. On June 8, the family of four will join Twinkle’s actress-mum Dimple Kapadia to celebrate her 60th birthday. “It’s a special occasion and we want to celebrate it with the entire family,’’ said the actor. We hear that Twinkle’s younger sister, Rinke, and her family, will fly out to London from Delhi to be a part of the celebrations, as will Dimple’s late sister Simple’s son, Karan Kapadia, who now lives with the veteran actress in Mumbai.
On her birthday, Dimple will be surrounded by her daughters, sons-in-law Akshay and Sameer Saran, nephew Karan and all her grandkids.
After the birthday celebrations, Akshay and Co will travel to a few more European destinations before returning to London and eventually to Mumbai.

As an actress- turned-entrepreneur-and-producer, Shilpa Shetty juggles many roles. In fact, the mother to two-year-old Viaan Raj has been deftly dividing her time between her duties as a mother and her professional commitments.
However, of late, her work has been eating into her personal time. For instance, Shilpa had promised her son Viaan a trip to Walt Disney World in Florida a few months ago, but she had to postpone the trip, as she was busy with the brand endorsements and promotions for Dishkiyaoon, the first film under her home production.
Now it appears that this trip will be delayed once again as Shilpa has decided to stay put in the city in order to cast her vote. Says a source close to Shilpa, “She could have gone to the US, but she has now postponed the trip again because she wants to vote. The actress feels strongly about this issue and has decided to take Viaan to Florida after the elections."
