FAST & FURIOUS: HOBBS & SHAW had a pretty good weekend but collections dropped fast thereafter as the film did not find appreciation among the paying public. The film collected 53.25 crore nett in its first week which is not bad but the problem is the film struggled to keep afloat on the weekdays.

FAST & FURIOUS 8 grossed almost 87 crore nett while FAST & FURIOUS 7 grossed almost 98 crore nett and this film has no chance to reach the 87 crore nett mark of the last film. Even 75 crore nett looks pretty much impossible so the franchise is on a downward slide as far as business in India is concerned.

The dubbed versions of FAST & FURIOUS 7 were excellent while this one has performed poorly in its dubbed versions. The Friday number will tell where this film can go but it will be a shortened six day week due to the Independence Day releases.

As can be seen by the above, the film will manage to cross ALADDIN but that's about it but it has a far higher brand value than an ALADDIN and should have been competing with CAPTAIN MARVEL and SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME at the very least.

The collections of the film so far are around 42 crore nett and the first week should finish at around 55 crore nett.

The writing was on the wall for the film on Saturday as reports were not too good in Hindi markets but there is always the South factor for Hollywood films which could push the film. But here South is also pretty much like the rest of the country. The trade in Mumbai had expected this film to be a blockbuster but it looks like it wont even be a hit going by the drop on Monday.

FAST & FURIOUS is a bigger brand in India than SPIDER-MAN as the previous films have done better than the SPIDER-MAN films but this one could struggle in the long run and even do less business than the last couple of installments of the franchise.

FAST & FURIOUS: HOBBS & SHAW had a good opening as it collected around 11 crore nett on day one. The opening day was a little better than SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME and in the same range as THE LION KING. The collections are the sixth best ever for a Hollywood film in India but they are less than a previous film of the franchise as FAST & FURIOUS 7 had collected 12 crore nett plus in 2015.

The opening is good but considering its an action film and there is brand value for the franchise in India, the initial could have been better as the genre does not tend to have legs. It is probably impossible for this film to go the THE LION KING way despite having similar opening day numbers. The weekend should put up good enough numbers and then it will be about the public reports and how well it can go after.

The new Hindi film KHANDAANI SHAFAKHANA is a dud as it collected 75 lakhs nett on day one. There is not much hope from this as the numbers are too low. Not that much was expected from the film anyway and the best it could have hoped for is 1 crore nett.
