For Haseena Parkar, I wore a body suit, had prosthetics in my mouth-Shraddha Kapoor

Actress on playing a lady don, similarities with Saina Nehwal and link-up rumours
Natasha Coutinho (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 2, 2017)

How did sweet and soft-spoken Shraddha suddenly decide to play a hard-as-nails lady don, Haseena Parkar?
She is real and has gone through a lot. That intrigued me and there were no second thoughts.

During Half Girlfriend, you admitted to like wearing designer clothes and looking glamorous. This time it was an older woman and hours of prosthetics...
I look at the full picture, it’s not just about whether the character is glam or de-glam. In this film, to play the older Haseena, I had to wear a body suit and had silicone prosthetics inside my mouth. It took me around 45 minutes everyday to get ready and once in the get-up, it was difficult to talk. But you have to be true to your character and once I got used to it, I was fine.

Amole Gupte, the director of the Saina Nehwal biopic, says you’re like a daughter to him?
(Smiles) Yes, he treats me like a child and showers me with affection and I love it. He’s empathetic and is always looking out for me. That means a lot. Also, he’s an amazing director, his Stanley Ka Dabba is an all-time fave. If he says he’s happy with me, my day is made.

He’s pointed to striking similarities between Saina and you, including the forehead and the athlete in both of you. Has anyone ever said that you’re alike before?
No one did but yes, there’s a resemblance in our facial structure, the forehead in particular. Also, we’re the same height and share our star sign — Piscean.

How’s the prep going?
I’ve completed 32 badminton classes and am in love with the sport. I’ll continue even after the biopic wraps up. I’m a morning person and like waking up at 5 am and going for practice. I like to maximise my day.

You’ve landed a biggie with Prabhas’s next, the Hindi-Telugu bi-lingual, Saaho...
Yes, it’s my first multilingual film and that makes it interesting. I’m looking forward to working with Prabhas.

The announcement didn’t go down well with his fans down South. Buzz was, it would be his Bahubali co-star Anushka Shetty.
I don’t know what the speculations were as I don’t read the paper or watch TV. I used to watch National Geographic or Discovery Channel earlier but I don’t even watch those now.

There have been stories linking you with your Aashiqui co-star, Aditya Roy Kapur, and now your Rock On co-star, Farhan Akhtar. How do you react to them?
I don’t pay attention to them. Since I don’t read the papers or watch the news, I miss most of them anyway.

Your dad’s birthday is coming up on September 3? Any special plans?
Dad will be travelling for work on his birthday. The only time I get with him is in the morning. Whatever he wants to do, I’ll be happy to oblige.

You’ve been taking little breaks between shoots. That must be invigorating?
I took a short holiday after Half Girlfriend. I was shooting for Haseena Parkar till a couple of months ago and haven’t taken a long vacation recently, just a little break with my bestie Eshanka (Wahi) in Italy.

Shraddha Kapoor to holiday in Italy for a week with bestie Eshanka Wahi

Natasha Coutinho (MUMBAI MIRROR; June 19, 2017)

Shraddha Kapoor left for Italy on Sunday night with bestie Eshanka Wahi for a week of downtime. A source close to the actress reveals to Mirror, “Shraddha had promised Eshanka this trip long ago and now has taken some time off her hectic schedule to take off on a holiday with her. Her bestie moved to Delhi recently after she got married so Shraddha doesn't get to meet her often but she makes it a point to spend time with her whenever possible. The girls will be travelling across the country.“

Earlier this year, videos of Shraddha dancing at Eshanka's wedding had gone viral. The actress who has kicked off her training for Amole Gupte's Saina Nehwal biopic, is taking her badminton racket along so she can continue with her practise in between all the sight-seeing. Shraddha is expected to be back in Mumbai, in the coming week and will resume prep.

Before leaving the country, the actress however ensured that she rang in Fathers' Day with dad Shakti and the rest of the family. Brother Siddhanth was already in Europe but joined in the celebrations through a video call. “My daughter got me a huge bouquet and then we cut a cake. It was a surprise for me. Siddhanth had already made arrangements with Shraddha before leaving and joined in during the cake cutting,“ beamed the happy father.

Mirror had reported (October 10) about Shraddha Kapoor spending some quality time with parents, Shakti and Shivangi, aunts Padmini and Tejaswini Kolhapure, uncle Pankaj Saraswat, and cousins Priyank and Vedika at her best friend Eshanka Wahi's mehendi ceremony on Sunday. Eshanka’s lavish Dubai wedding with Harit Israni on Monday was followed by a reception in the evening which was made memorable by singer Sukhbir who got everyone dancing with his chartbusters, including “Taare Gin Gin”. The Dubai-based singer even took to social media to thank the Ek Villain actress for joining him for a jig.

“The Wahis are very close to the Kapoor and Kohapure families. Shraddha and her gang spent some much-deserved family time together, especially Padmini and Tejaswini’s families as they had adjacent rooms in the hotel they were staying in,” added the source.

Siddhanth who had been busy prepping up for his role of Dawood Ibrahim in Apoorva Lakhia’s Haseena Parkar film, landed up at the wedding on Sunday to surprise his family but returned to the Bay soon after to begin shooting for the film on Tuesday.

“Shakti and Shraddha left for Mumbai as well to honour work commitments but Shivangi stayed back with sisters Padmini and Tejaswini and their respective families for an extended vacation to unwind,” the source concluded.

Shraddha Kapoor does a 'Cham Cham' with cousin Vedika at bestie Eshanka Wahi’s mehendi?

Mirror (September 17) had earlier reported that Shraddha Kapoor with brother Siddhanth and parents, Shakti and Shivangi, will be taking off to Dubai to attend best friend Eshanka Wahi's wedding. She left on Saturday with her dad while mum followed in a later flight. Siddhanth who starts shooting for Apoorva Lakhia’s Haseena Parkar from Tuesday was busy prepping up to play Dawood Ibrahim but managed to reach Dubai on Sunday.

Shraddha’s aunts, Padmini and Tejaswini Kolhapure, uncle Pankaj Saraswat and cousins Priyank and little Vedika were already there. The entire Kapoor khandaan was reuniting after Ganpati and had a blast during the mehendi and sangeet ceremonies.

A source informed Mirror that Shraddha danced to her Baaghi track, “Cham Cham”, with Vedika while Padmini sang “Yeh Galiyan Yeh Chaubara” from Prem Rog making everyone emotional. The Kolhapure sisters, along with Priyank, wore Padmini’s label for the mehendi. Shraddha will also wear one of her aunt’s creations.

“The Kapoors are very close to the Wahis and have taken Vedika on her first trip abroad. There is a flash mob kind of a performance planned for the sangeet,” adds the source.

Eshanka is TV actor Karan Wahi's sister. She got engaged to Herat Israni in February. Shraddha attended the engagement in Delhi.

Shraddha Kapoor & family to turn friend's destination wedding in Dubai into a family vacation

Shakti and Shivangi who have been missing their kids, actors Shraddha and Siddhanth, have decided on a family vacation in Dubai next month to catch up

Work has kept this Kapoor family apart for a while now. Shraddha has been busy with Mohit Suri's Half Girlfriend which moved from the Capital to Cape Town to New York and the actress has just returned to the Bay.

Papa Shakti has been shooting for an Oriya film, Dil Kare Ding Dong, in Bhubaneswar since the last few weeks while brother Siddhanth has started his prep for the Haseena Parkar biopic in which he plays Dawood Ibrahim. Missing her daughter, Shivangi took off to the US and stayed back to meet a few friends even after Sharddha returned home. Now, Mirror has learnt that the foursome has decided to make Shraddha's best friend Eshanka Wahi's wedding, scheduled to take place in Dubai from October 8 to 10, into a family holiday and catch up on some quality time. Eshanka, who is actor Karan Wahi's sister, got engaged to Harit Israni in February. Shraddha had attended the engagement in Delhi.

“Yes, all of us have been really busy off late. The last time I met Shraddha was after she had returned from Cape Town, that too for a few minutes. Later, I went for my shoot and though I was in town for three days, she had left for the Big Apple by then. Now she's back but I'm off and will be back only by the month-end,“ sighs Shakti from Bhubaneshwar.

The 58-year-old actor will be going to Dubai with his daughter. Shivangi and Siddhanth will be travelling separately and will join them in UAE. Their last family outing was in July 2015 when they had taken off to Hong Kong and Macau for a week long vacation.

Shakti celebrated his 58th birthday away from his family on the sets of his Oriya film, though all of them had wished him with a chorus of “Happy Birthdays“ on a conference call with Shraddha leading the way. “She was shocked to not find me home when she returned from New York on Friday. She is missing me, so am I,“ he sighed.
