He made his big screen debut with Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas in 2019 and followed it up with Velle two years later. While his films didn’t make the desired mark at the box office, it hasn’t deterred Karan Deol. The actor, who is gearing up for an action film, knows that the path ahead isn’t going to be easy.

Karan says, “My father saw this kind of success after 22 long years with Gadar 2. That has taught me the importance of being patient. With so much competition in the industry, it is difficult to find work unless you prove yourself. I am yet to do that... I’m still struggling and looking for work. Initially, I’d get frustrated because at this age, you want to work instead of just sitting around, but I’m learning to be patient.”

Karan is currently honing his craft and taking acting workshops. He’s also following his father’s footsteps and is in talks for an action film. “This profession comes with fame, adulation and a lot of scrutiny when things don’t go your way. And when you come from a filmi background, people are waiting to bring you down. I’d be lying if I say that I am thick-skinned, and that things don’t affect me. Online comments and reviews do affect me. You start questioning and blaming yourself... you psychologically send yourself into a dark place,” he shares.

Personally, the actor is in a happy space, as in June this year, he tied the knot with his long-time partner Drisha Acharya. “We dated for 10 years before tying the knot, she has seen me go through ups and downs and has always stood by me. Drisha instilled confidence in me when mine wavered. She has brought a lot of change and happiness in my life,” he says.

Karan is thrilled to see his father relaxed and enjoying the huge success of Gadar 2. He says, “More than anything, this success my father is seeing was long overdue. After seeing everything that he has been through, I cannot express how happy I am to see him enjoy this success. He has seen unanimous love – something that you usually don’t see. For an actor with such a large body of work, it was frustrating to see him keep trying so hard. But he has always been very patient. He would tell me, ‘I have seen this before’ and he believed that there would be a breakthrough. It feels surreal to see him finally getting his due. Now, he is relaxed and happy, which he hasn’t been for a long time and it is so nice to see that.”

It’s been two months since actor Karan Deol tied the knot with long-time girlfriend Drisha Acharya, and he calls it the “best decision” of his life. In his first interview after the wedding, which took place on June 18, he tells us, “Drisha truly connects with my family. Everyone loves her!”

The pair had been dating for 10 years, which is why Karan, who is the son of actor Sunny Deol, feels “life hasn’t changed much after the wedding”. “I was always sure that Drisha was the person [for me],” he says, adding that he took his time before taking his relationship to the next level because he wanted to be “financially stable”.

The Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas (2019) and Velle (2021) actor shares, “My decision to get married was largely dependent on getting my career going. It was bound to happen, so getting married was just about finding the right time.”

Calling Drisha his “best friend and biggest support factor”, the 32-year-old gushes that there is nothing she doesn’t know about him.

“She has known me since before I got into the industry. Now, I can’t think of life without her. It is amazing to share my life with her; it is like spending time with your best friend and the love of your life. She knows me inside out.”

Looking back at his big fat Punjabi wedding, Karan says it was a “non-stop celebration”. “Every time I look back at those days, I wish I could relive them all over again.” One of his most special moments from the festivities was the dance tribute he gave his grandfather, veteran actor, Dharmendra.

“I was reluctant about it initially, but decided to go ahead with it. It wasn’t planned for him to come on stage, but it was the love which brought him on. Having him on stage was magical,” he concludes.

Actor Sunny Deol’s son, actor Karan Deol, is ready to take the plunge. He has been dating Drisha Acharya, the great-granddaughter of late filmmaker Bimal Roy, for quite some time, and they will get married next month. From what we have gathered, Drisha is based in Dubai and works as a manager at a travel agency. “It’s a classic case of childhood romance,” a source close to them reveals.

Karan and Drisha “had an intimate roka ceremony in the presence of their families, including Sunny and (grandparents) Dharmendra and Prakash Kaur”. But soon, there was buzz around their engagement. While some sources claim that they are already engaged, others suggest that they will exchange rings closer to the wedding date.

“The reports emerged after they were spotted together at a five-star discussing their wedding venue,” says a source, adding, “Drisha is in Mumbai and they will soon make an official announcement.”

The duo will tie the knot in a private ceremony at a five-star hotel in Bandra, Mumbai. “It will be a star-studded affair. The date has also been finalized, but only their close ones know about it. The wedding ceremony is likely to be attended by their close friends and relatives. It’ll be a Punjabi affair,” says a source.

While Karan was unavailable for a comment, his representatives chose not to comment.
