The collections came down to very low levels on Monday which means there is not much more to come. It should get over the 140 crore nett mark but not by much.
-------------------
BAJIRAO MASTANI grossed 27 crore nett apprx in week three which is the second best third week of the year after BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN. The collections of BAJIRAO MASTANI till date are as follows:

The film had its first major drop on Monday though collections held fairly well after that. The postponement of GHAYAL ONCE AGAIN means the film should cross 175 crore nett as it now will stay in theatres for two more weeks.
-------------------
BAJIRAO MASTANI grossed around 1 crore nett on its fourth Friday which is a good collection and the weekend should go to 4.5 crore nett plus. DILWALE grossed around 25 lakhs nett on its fourth Friday and the total collections now stand at 137.50 crore nett. The weekend should be 1 crore nett plus. The film has become the fourth highest grosser ever in West Bengal after 22 days.

BAJIRAO MASTANI had a very strong second week as it grossed 54.5 crore nett apprx taking its two week total to 138.5 crore nett plus. The drop is just 35% from week one. It is the second highest second week total of the year after BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN and is the only other film apart from BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN to cross 50 crore nett in week two this year. It is also the fifth highest second week collection of all time after PK, BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN, DHOOM 3 and 3 IDIOTS. Interestingly all these films are Christmas releases apart from BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN.
This film is a huge hit in Maharashtra with a Mumbai circuit total of 53 crore nett plus in three weeks and this is with Gujarat giving a just a fair performance. The other circuits had been slow to start but will have good lifetime figures barring a couple of circuits.
The film is leading DILWALE by around 12.75 crore nett after two weeks though the gap in the bottom lines is much less as BAJIRAO MASTANI has a distributor share of 69 crore apprx in two weeks while Dilwale has a distributor share of 66 crore in a similar time frame.
The film again held very well on the weekdays in the second week and the third week will determine where the film is going. It should cross 160 crore nett and the chance of hitting 170 crore nett is also there but will need a strong third week.
---------------------
DILWALE grossed 31.25 crore nett in its second week which is the fourth highest second week total after BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN, BAJIRAO MASTANI and TANU WEDS MANU RETUENS. These are the only four films to cross 30 crore nett for the weekend. The total after ten days is 126.75 crore nett for DILWALE. The drop week on week is 67.5% apprx.
This film continued to be best in West Bengal and has grossed 10.50 crore nett in the circuit which is which is the seventh highest total in the circuit already. Eventually it will emerge the fourth highest grossing film ever in the circuit beating the likes of CHENNAI EXPRESS and KICK.
The film has under performed at the box office in India as BAJIRAO MASTANI surpassed it after ten days but still there are circuits where it will be the bigger grosser. West Bengal, Bihar, Assam, Orissa, Nizam / Andhra and Tamil Nadu/Kerala will all see better numbers for DILWALE despite a lower all India total than BAJIRAO MASTANI.

DILWALE grossed 20 crore nett plus in its second weekend. The drop is 68% which is a normal drop but not in this case as it was a holiday weekend and also the first week was not a typical release due to clash so less business done. The business of DILWALE in its second weekend is as follows.

Saturday - 6,00,00,000
Sunday - 7,25,00,000

The film is continuing its extraordinary run in West Bengal but the performance is not what it should be in main circuits like Mumbai, Delhi /UP and East Punjab.
------------------------
BAJIRAO MASTANI (Hindi) has grossed 95.50 crore nett in eight days. The daily business of BAJIRAO MASTANI till date is as follows.
Day One - 12,25,00,000
Day Two - 15,00,00,000
Day Three - 17,75,00,000
Day Four - 10,00,00,000

Day Seven - 10,25,00,000
Day Eight - 12,00,00,000
TOTAL - 95,50,00,000
The film started doing very well on Monday and that has continued into its second week though the jump on Christmas Day holiday could have been higher especially for a film which had such a strong weekday trend. The film is doing excellent business in Mumbai and Mysore, good in other circuits with under performance in West Bengal, Bihar, Assam and Orissa.

DILWALE has had a good first week of around 95.37 crore nett though the trend over the weekdays is average. For a normal film a 20% drop from Monday to Thursday would be good but DILWALE is an event film. Although the weekend was strong it was not an optimum release which meant less business was consumed over the weekend and so the weekdays should have done better. Also the weekday business is less than BAJIRAO MASTANI despite a much better weekend.
The film has fared very well in West Bengal, Nizam/Andhra, Mysore and Tamil Nadu/Kerala. In the latter it will become the highest Hindi grosser of the year in just ten days.
The problem is all the above markets are not the core Hindi markets and that is where the film has suffered. Mumbai circuit has had strong competition from day one so the performance in Mumbai is understandable. But North and Central India should be collecting much better especially the latter as its masala genre and central India normally leads for the genre.
The film does not have a problem for recovery as the first week in India is big enough with reasonable holds and Overseas is huge but eventually the India theatrical business will not be the sort that is expected from a big Shah Rukh Khan film. The 300 crore nett number going around was never going to happen due to two films releasing together but 200 crore nett or close to it was a realistic expectation but it is going to fell short of that.
-----------------
BAJIRAO MASTANI has managed a good first week after a decent weekend. The film has had a very strong hold on the weekdays with the best business coming on Thursday out of all the weekdays. The film has grossed 84.36 crore nett in week one with a 45 crore nett and 39.36 crore nett weekend to weekday split.
The film is a huge hit in Mumbai circuit with business in week one going over 30 crore nett. Mumbai circuit had started well enough on day one but is the other circuits barring East India which have slowly come on board for the film which has really helped the film to a solid first week total. The business in West Bengal and Bihar is below the mark but should not make much a difference now as the rest of India is now doing good to very good business.
Recovery had looked impossible for the film on the initial it had taken but its weekday business has totally changed the scenario for the film. On this weekday trend the film is certain to hit 150 crore nett mark which would ensure recovery but there is a chance that the film could even go to 175 crore nett depending on the second week figures.

DILWALE dropped 13% on Tuesday with multiplexes in big cities having noticeable falls with the best holds coming in Nizam/Andhra and East India. The business of DILWALE over the five days is as follows.
Friday - 20,85,00,000
Saturday - 19,50,00,000
Sunday - 23,00,00,000
Monday - 9,50,00,000
Tuesday - 8,25,00,000 approx
TOTAL - 81,10,00,000
The first week business of the film will be in the 94-95 crore nett range. The film consumed less business on the weekend than it could have due to the clash. So the weekday trend should have been good but it as very average here.
--------------------
BAJIRAO MASTANI was rock steady on Tuesday with just a 5% drop after a very strong Monday. The business of BAJIRAO MASTANI over the first five days is as follows.
Friday - 12,25,00,000
Saturday - 15,00,00,00
Sunday - 17,75,00,000
Monday - 10,00,00,000
Tuesday - 9,50,00,000 approx
TOTAL - 64,50,00,000
The first week of the film should be around 80 crore nett but with this solid Tuesday business it will be the second week where the film will put up a very good total. The film is being lead by Mumbai circuit followed by South which is now also putting up very good numbers. East India is weakest though it is holding well at low levels.

DILWALE fell 55% on Monday as compared to Friday which is a bit more than the normal drop. Also with less business consumed on the weekend due to the clash the weekday trend should be better than normal. The business of DILWALE over the first four days is as follows.
Friday - 20,85,00,000
Saturday - 19,50,00,000
Sunday - 23,00,00,000
Monday - 9,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 72,85,00,000
The first week business will probably be around 95 crore nett and then remains to be seen how well can it do in Xmas week. But with this Monday drop a real big number is out of the question.
------------------
BAJIRAO MASTANI was very steady on Monday dropping just 15% on its first Monday as comapred to Friday. The hold was similar all in most circuits but Mumbai leads with 21 crore nett apprx business as it has held from higher levels. The business of BAJIRAO MASTANI over the first four days is as follows.
Friday - 12,25,00,000
Saturday - 15,00,00,00
Sunday - 17,75,00,000
Monday - 10,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 55,25,00,000
The weekend growth did not suggest this type of hold on Monday but that is probably as the film could not show optimum growth due to competition from DILWALE which scored over the weekend. The first week business should go to around 80 crore nett plus and the film should be able to take benefit of holiday period next weekend.

DILWALE fell a little on Saturday as collections went down in single screen circuits and the circuits it opened well barring Mysore which managed to gain. The business of DILWALE over the first two days is as follows.
Thursday - 20,85,00,000
Friday - 19,50,00,000 approx
TOTAL - 40,85,00,000
The second day number is still good but the performance is not good all over as it should be for a film like this.
----------------------
BAJIRAO MASTANI showed gains of around 22% on day two which is decent though gains really had to be more. The business of MASTANI over the first two days is as follows.
Thursday - 12,25,00,000
Friday - 15,00,00,00 approx
TOTAL - 27,25,00,000
The film is good in Maharashtra where the film has caught up with DILWALE and even surpassed in some cities but the rest of the country is still lagging. Bihar, West Bengal, Assam and Orissa are very low.

DILWALE did very well on day with collections of 21 crore nett. Although it does not compare well with some of the biggest openers but that is because of less screenings due to the clash and on top it was not even a holiday. The film did put up some big numbers in East India and South India. South India was best especially Nizam/Andhra and Tamil Nadu/Kerala
The core belts of Mumbai, Delhi/UP, East Punjab and Central India were at least 40-50% lower than they should have been due to limited screenings. It had big leads over BAJIRAO MASTANI apart from Maharashtra where Mumbai city and Pune city saw both films put up similar collections.
The film does have scope for improvement as it lost some business due to disruptions in a few states and as long as there is no repeat it should have better collections in the areas. The areas where it has done very well will find it hard to improve. The disruptions which lead to shows being cancelled in many parts also affected business and so those areas can make ground if everything is okay on Saturday
