Television actress Divya Bhatnagar, 36, who was hospitalized on November 26 following health complications, passed away on Monday at around 3 am after suffering a cardiac arrest. She also had pneumonia and had tested positive for Coronavirus. After her condition became critical, she was put on a ventilator.

Her brother Devashish Bhatnagar was inconsolable as he broke the news to us. He said, “We were hoping that she would recover. My mother is heartbroken. I have to stay strong for her. This is a very difficult time for us and the pain is unbearable.”

While he is currently busy with the paperwork, Devashish says he plans to file a case against his deceased sister’s estranged husband, Gagan aka Gabru. He says, “Gagan started torturing Divya physically and mentally soon after their marriage. She had written a note on November 7, in which she had stated that Gagan tortures and abuses her. We found the note in her cupboard yesterday. She had also approached the police and filed an NC on November 16 against him, following an episode of domestic abuse. I had told her to stay strong when I got to talk to her during her hospitalization.”

Actress Divya Bhatnagar, who has featured in several television shows, including Udann and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, is critical. She tested positive for COVID-19 and is on the ventilator after her condition deteriorated.

We spoke to her brother Devashish Bhatnagar about her current condition, and he told us, “We have shifted Divya to another hospital. She was hospitalised on November 26 and tested positive for COVID-19 on November 28. She was already suffering from pneumonia, which has worsened owing to Coronavirus. Initially, she was on non-invasive ventilation to support her breathing, but is on ventilator now because of all the exertion of shifting hospitals. We want her to recover from the pneumonia, which has spread.”

Divya’s mother is also in Mumbai to be by her daughter’s side during this difficult time. However, she can’t meet her as the actress has tested positive for coronavirus. Devashish adds, “I am meeting Divya wearing a PPE kit because I need to be by her side and cheer her up. She is conscious and tries to talk to me. I am not allowing my mother to go inside as she is 63 and has to be extremely careful about her own health.”
