SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY is a disaster in India with collections of 2.25 crore nett apprx in week one. The film is out in its second week.

DEADPOOL 2 is an Average fare thanks to the opening. The film has dropped almost 80% in week two as the Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions of the film crashed though the English version held a bit better and it managed a 9 crore nett plus week two but there is not much left in the tank and it will probably finish under 55 crore nett. The two week total is 51 crore nett apprx. AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR crossed the 225 crore nett mark in its fifth week and is likely to add another 50 lakhs nett for a finish of 226.25 crore nett apprx.

SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY is a disaster in India with collections of just 35-40 lakhs nett. The STAR WARS brand has little value in India as none of the STAR WARS films have ever done well in India and that goes for the original STAR WARS film of the 70's which is one of the biggest blockbusters ever in Hollywood but was a washout in India.

DEADPOOL 2 has dropped in the second week with second Friday collections being around 85% down from the first Friday. The English version has some some collections which has helped to collect in the 1.25-1.50 crore nett range. If it was as bad as Hindi and regional then the film would not even had 1 crore nett. AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR is still continuing to run in its fifth week and will hit 225 crore nett at the end of its fifth weekend.

DEADPOOL 2 grossed 41 crore nett in its first week which is a reasonable total but the collections have fallen fast over the weekdays which leaves the film little of sustaining in weeks 2 and 3. The English version will be okay in some places but the dubbed versions be it Hindi, Tamil and Telugu hardly made an impact and will be playing in limited screens.

Tiger Shroff had dubbed SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING in Hindi last year and the film did not really work in its Hindi format although it was better than DEADPOOL 2. This film has Hindi dubbing by Ranveer Singh and the Hindi format fared poorly. Although the industry and trade sees these things giving the film a boost and even give hype to the actor but for the audience it does not work that way as it irritates them with a known voice on these superheros when in real the character should have his own voice. Also actors may dub their own films as they acted in that film so they know the nuances but the likes of Spider-Man and Deadpool are best left to professional dubbing artists. It's less costly and makes for a much better watching experience for the audience.

DEADPOOL 2 may not have done that well but Hollywood still has the only All Time Blockbuster this year with AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR which grossed a decent 4.75 crore nett in week four taking its four week total to 224 crore nett.  The film is looking at a lifetime total 226-227 crore nett.

DEADPOOL 2 continued the downward trend on Tuesday as it collected 3.50 crore nett to take its 5 day total to 35 crore nett. The film had collected around 5 crore nett more than RAAZI on Friday and five days later the gap between the films is just 25 lakhs and it is just a matter of time before RAAZI goes ahead. It is 100% certain to be ahead of Friday as DEADPOOL 2 will have a heavy reduction of screens.

The film is looking at a first week of 40-41 crore nett which is a fair figure for a Hollywood release but the problem is this was a bigger release than most Hollywood releases and the bigger problem is the trend with collections not holding.

DEADPOOL 2 dropped badly on Monday which was on the cards considering what happened over the weekend. The film grossed 4 crore nett apprx on Monday which is around 55-60% lower than first day. The first week looks to be heading for 41 crore nett which is decent for the film but the problem is that the film has not been appreciated especially the dubbed versions which will mean further drops after the first week.

The film saw drops in all versions on Monday though the English versions have far better occupancy. BLACK PANTHER grossed around 55 crore nett and was also not appreciated in dubbed versions and this film will find it tough to reach the BLACK PANTHER level despite a far better opening.

DEADPOOL 2 stuttered after a good start on Friday. The Friday numbers were very good considering the Adult certificate for the film but it faltered over Saturday and Sunday. The weekend grossed 27.50 crore nett but the big problem is the first day is the best day.

The film has fared poorly in the dubbed versions and Hollywood films can get away with that but here the film has gone to nearly 2000 screens. So dubbed versions which will have more than half the screens have to contribute well for the film to sustain. The Hindi version of the film hardly grew on Sunday after a noticeable fall on Saturday. It has not been able to reach 10 crore nett for the weekend which is not good.

The dubbed versions are going to fall heavily on Monday as the film has not found appreciation in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu but it still has some hope with the English version which could run for a few weeks. It will not be easy for the English version alone to take it to a decent total as the screens playing dubbed versions will slowly get redundant but the chance is there although not a big chance.

DEADPOOL 2 struggled on day two as the collections of the film dropped by around 5-10% and collected 8.75 crore nett. The problem for the film are its dubbed formats be it Hindi, Tamil or Telugu which had opened far lower than the English format and also dropped more on Saturday. It is very rare for a film to drop on Saturday nowadays unless business is dominated by single screens which is not the case here.

The overall two day number of the film is pretty good at 18.25 crore nett but the trend for the film is not looking strong which makes Monday crucial for the film. It will be about the English version from Monday onwards as this format could still do well but to be really big it needed support of the dubbed versions especially the Hindi and that will find it hard to sustain.

The Hindi version of the film collected 3.50 crore nett on day one and 3 crore nett on the second day. A film like FAST & FURIOUS 8 which opened in the same range had far better collections in Hindi. The drop for the film has come practically all over barring places like Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore.

RAAZI was doing better in many centers of the country on Saturday and on Sunday it could go ahead at more centers. The Hollywood super hero films have made many Hindi films suffer but here RAAZI is standing up very well and is the first choice for the Hindi speaking film audience.

DEADPOOL 2 has taken the fifth highest ever opening for a Hollywood release of around 9.5-9.75 crore nett behind some very established brands like THE AVENGERS and FAST & FURIOUS. The achievement is not the fifth highest opening but the fact that it came despite an Adult certification.

The business of the Hindi version is on the lower side comparatively as mass areas like UP and Bihar have done so so business but the film has scored very well in English and the bigger centers. This could be due to the Adult certification and Ramadan which lead to a weak start in Muslim centers but big centers and the English version should drive this film to success.
