DE DE PYAAR DE has a pretty good first week as it collected nearly 57 crore nett after ordinary weekend numbers as the film did not open that well. It has held well over the weekdays but there was a noticeable drop on Thursday which could be a case for concern unless Friday holds strongly.

The drop on Thursday was almost 20% and that is a big drop for a film which is doing collections in that 5 crore nett level. The drop is a surprise as it held up strongly over the Mon - Wed period. It is possible that the drop is there because the election results came out which meant a lot of the public was following that yesterday.

The second Friday is all important and it due to this Thursday drop it cannot afford to drop a lot if the film is to emerge a HIT. The business and trend of the film is similar to RAID, the cost is also similar to RAID with the UK subsidy compensating for a higher production budget due to overseas shot film.

DE DE PYAAR DE may well remain the top film in its second week also as the two new Hindi releases INDIA'S MOST WANTED and PM NARENDRA MODI are pick up films but the pick up on Saturday of DE DE PYAAR DE will be more than both the new releases even if they manage to find and audience.

The second week is important for DE DE PYAAR DE because one it did not have a good weekend and secondly its third week will be cut short with the release of BHARAT. RAID grossed 25 crore nett apprx in week two last year and DE DE PYAAR DE will probably have to do better than that if it is to reach a similar total to RAID as week one will be less than RAID.

The film could suffer it a little in North as there are two big Punjabi films releasing with major stars. Its weird to have two major Punjabi films clashing as the market is small and with a clash you limit it further. There is CHANDIGARH AMRITSAR CHANDIGARH with Gippy Grewal and MUKLAWA with Ammy Virk and these two are two of the three major stars of Punjabi cinema. Its a bit like an Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan in terms of star positioning for that industry.

DE DE PYAAR DE will probably have to a show a fall of 25% or less on Thursday if it is to beat the second week number of RAID.

DE DE PYAAR DE is looking to be a HIT film as it held up very well on Monday with collections in the 5.75-6 crore nett range. The drop is around 25-30% from the first day which is strong trending. The collections after four days including paid previews nearly 42 crore nett and it should remain steady over the rest of the weekdays.

The first week is looking to be 57 crore nett apprx which is a good total and a great result considering day one was not more than 8 crore nett. The best business of the film is going to come from Delhi NCR and East Punjab though the latter might be affected by Punjabi releases on Friday. The collections in places like UP, Rajasthan and CI were low over the weekend but have held steady on Monday though at low levels. these markets had lower drops than the bigger circuits as they were low on Friday.

It will be the second Friday which will confirm the HIT status because due to the below par first weekend it cant afford to drop 40-50% from Thursday especially with the competition not being too strong.

DE DE PYAAR DE remained steady on Tuesday and hardly showed a drop as it collected 5.50 crore nett and took its five day numbers to over 47 crore nett. It should be able to add another 10 crore nett over the next two days for a first week total of 57 crore nett. There is sometimes a drop on Wednesday but at these levels it should not come.

The first week business will not be much lower than Raid which did nearly 60 crore nett but had a better start on the first day. This film has the chances to do better than Raid post the first week especially in week two and week three as Delhi NCR is super strong and this market holds very well for a film which has been appreciated like DE DE PYAAR DE.

The likes of Rajasthan, CI and Gujarat are holding over the weekdays though being a multiplex film they will end up doing AVERAGE business which is more than good enough for this film.

DE DE PYAAR DE is set to emerge a HIT film even though the growth on Sunday was limited. The all India growth may be limited but the business in Mumbai/Gujarat tells the real story and this circuit has big growth on Sunday with collections going up 30% in the circuit and 50% in Gujarat/Saurashtra. The weekend business is 36 crore nett including the Thursday previews.

Basically elections in some parts of the country held the film back otherwise the film would have consolidated the Saturday growth with a further 30% on Sunday. The weekend figures are lackluster but the trend is strong on Saturday and Sunday and if we go by the three numbers in Mumbai circuit it will sustain on Monday and it remains to be seen at what level.

The business is not too good in mass markets but Mumbai, Delhi NCR and East Punjab will do good to very good business over the long run going by the weekend trend.

The weekend numbers are low for an Ajay Devgn starrer as BAADSHAHO (2017) had better numbers and the collections are not that much better than films released long back like SON OF SARDAAR and RAAJNEETI. But the industry will have to get used to disappointing openings as the cinema coming out from the Hindi film industry is not penetrating mass audiences and even if by chance a film is good it is holding only regional appeal and not across all Hindi markets.

DE DE PYAAR DE had excellent growth on its second day of around 50% which is more than any major release this year including URI. There may have been some smaller films which had more growth but that is always possible with restricted releases.

The day two collections should ensure that the film will run in the multiplexes and A centres which should be enough for the film. The B and C centres and single screens hardly ever accept the rom come genre especially ones that are set overseas. So the non performance there will not make much difference to the final picture.

The growth has come across the board with some places growing 60-65% while mass dominated places like Bihar and CP Berar were less but nevertheless were still up due to the handful of big multiplexes in these circuits showing good growth.

The weekend business will be AVERAGE at around 37-38 crore nett but the film can hold well in the weekdays to end the first week with a good number. But the elections could affect the collections on Sunday.
