Chef collects 5 cr in Week 1

Chef Box Office Collection Day 3: Saif Ali Khan's film fails to impress audiences, collects only Rs 4 crore
Box Office India Trade Network

CHEF had an extremely poor first of 5 crore nett. With an open week its unlikely that the film will add much more after the first week even though its an empty week. The film will probably be the lowest Saif Ali Khan grosser since the millennium apart from duds like BEING CYRUS, EK HASINA THI and NEHLLE PE DEHLLA.

There is not much else to say though the list below will more or less explain how bad the film was in week one. Basically below are the films ranked 40-45 in week one this year and CHEF is in a very poor company.
40. Bank Chor - 6,89,00,000
41. Noor - 6,64,00,000
42. Haseena Parkar - 6,38,00,000
43. Chef - 5,00,00,000 apprx
44. Indu Sarkar - 4,39,00,000
45. Hind Ka Napak Ko Jawab : MSG 2 - 4,29,00,000

CHEF had a very low Monday as it grossed 50 lakhs nett. The drop is less than 50% on Monday but that can happen when a film has practically collected nothing over the weekend. The film opened on 1500 plus screens which is huge number for this film but it did lose shows over the weekend due to lack of audience and occupancy on Monday is just too low.

The first week business of the film is looking to be around 5 crore nett and it might hold a show or at some multiplexes in second week due to lack of releases of multiplexes. The lifetime business of the film does not look like going over 6 crore. The first four day business of CHEF  is as follows.
Friday - 85,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 1,15,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 1,35,00,000 apprx
Monday - 50,00,000 apprx
Total - 3,85,00,000 apprx

Chef Box Office Collection Day 3: Saif Ali Khan's Film Is A 'Disaster'
Box Office India Trade Network

The final quarter of the year has got off to the worst start possible with CHEF as the film has recorded total wash out numbers in the first week. The last few weeks have seen many major films fare very poorly but CHEF is the worst of the lot. This is a film that even if it Monday holds at Friday levels it is still a huge disaster that is how bad the weekend is the for the film.

No doubt the film looked bad from the promos but still to have just a little over 3 crore nett business for the weekend shows how bad things can be when this type of cinema is made which very few want to watch. The trend is as bad as the collections with hardly any growth over the weekend. The first weekend business of CHEF is as follows.
Friday - 85,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 1,15,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 1,35,00,000
Total - 3,35,00,000

The film actually had a good date with a good open run in from of it but it is of no use becasue of this total rejection of the film by the paying public. It actually makes the collections of some other big disasters this year like RAABTA, RANGOON and A GENTLEMAN look good.

Chef Movie Review: Saif Ali Khan's Film Is Flavourless And Forgettable
Box Office India Trade Network

CHEF is a huge box office disaster and the way it is going it is not even going to get the numbers of films like MIRZYA and ROCK ON 2. The film showed an improvement of 35% when it needed 135% and even them it would be some respectability and not success. The second day business has managed to go a little over 1 crore for a two day total of 2 crore nett.

The film has been totally rejected even at the premium multiplexes and this rejection looked on the cards from the promos but even after the promos you would assume it can do 10-12 crore nett business but it seems its only going to half of that. The first two day business of CHEF is as follows.
Friday - 85,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 1,15,00,000 apprx
Total - 2,00,00,000

There were seven other small releases including 2016 - The End, Call For Fun, Muavza Zameen Ka Paisa and Raktshar among others but all were unable to get any worthwhile numbers.

Chef Box Office Collection Day 1: Saif Ali Khan's Film Gets A 'Low Start'
Box Office India Trade Network

CHEF has had an awful first day as it collected less than 1 crore nett. The film was not really expected to collect but these collections are even lower than those low expectations. The film should have at least got past fils like NOOR and GUEST IIN LONDON and grossed in the region of 1.50 crore nett but here the collections are almost half of that with the first day collections coming in the 80-90 lakhs nett range. The film started very poorly and these figures have come with the normal evening growth. So it can be imagined how bad the morning was. This number means that even if the film doubles up on Saturday it will not help. It will have to probably treble up or even more and even NEWTON could not do that with support of an Oscar entry and here there is no such thing. The lowest numbers of some major releases this year are as follows. CHEF has done less business than films NEWTON and LIPSTICK UNDER MY BURKHA but those are not included below as were limited releases and the ones below had 1000 screens or close to it.
1. Chef - 90,00,000 apprx
2. Guest Iin London - 1,17,00,000
2. Noor - 1,23,00,000
3. The Ghazi Attack - 1,55,00,000
4. Daddy - 1,58,00,000
5. Babumoshai Bandookbaaz - 1,61,00,000

The other releases 2016 THE END, CALL FOR FUN, RAKTDHAR, MUAVZA: ZAMAAN KA PAISA etc were washouts. There were 8 releases this week and between them they failed to gather up 1 crore nett between them.
