Makers of the Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer 'Babumoshai Bandookbaaz' are scouting for locations for the film's shoot, which was abruptly stalled in Bengal in December last year. With a major part of the film already shot, sources suggest some scenes need to be re-filmed to maintain continuity.
A source close to the development says, "They have a couple of places in mind, including Uttar Pradesh, but they are yet to zero in on the specific location."
Shortly after the Kushan Nandy project had taken off , his production team had some disagreements with the Federation of Cine Technicians and Workers of Eastern India. Around 40 workers withdrew from the sets in Burdwan alleging non-payment of dues. After this was resolved, the team moved to Bolpur but the same issue resurfaced. Eventually, the shoot had to be scrapped and the makers left the state with a heavily burnt pocket — the fiasco cost them nearly Rs 1 crore.
Nandy confirms having Uttar Pradesh in mind to complete the film's shoot. "But we have not decided on any one place as of now. The first 40 minutes of the film have been shot, but some minuscule portions showing the cityscape, etc. will have to be re-done. We have good footage of the village scenes, so going over the other sequences wouldn't be much of an issue," he says.

Kushan Nandy alleges trouble by local film association while shooting in West Bengal

Ankur Pathak (MUMBAI MIRROR; December 24, 2014)
Kushan Nandy, who began shooting for his next directorial, Babumoshai Bandookbaaz starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Chitrangada Singh in Burdwan district of West Bengal, had to leave the state midway.
According to the director, the members of Federation of Cine Technicians and Workers of Eastern India were not only harassing him, but also extorting money from him. And it all began when he hired their services for line-production.
"In the past week alone, I've paid over Rs 55 lakh, following threats from these people," an exasperated Nandy told Mirror from Kolkata. "These people work like a mafia. They made me hire six assistants--four of whom never showed up on the set. Yet I was forced to clear their payment."
However, the General Secretary of the Federation of Cine Technicians and Workers of Eastern India, Aparna Ghatak, had a different version to share, "He hasn't paid our technicians, who are some of the finest in the industry. His cheques have bounced twice. Yet we didn't go to the cops."
Kushan further alleges that although his unit comprised of 70 people, he was made to work with an additional 30, who would be present only on 'paper'. Talking about his ordeal, he said: "One day a group of people barged into the sets, locked our cameras and barricaded our hotel. It was almost like a hostage situation. The Federation members are hand in glove with the local politicians. I will never shoot in West Bengal again."
To this, Ghatak shot back, "Why will our technicians not demand money if they have worked on the film? He shot for over 10 days and there was full co-operation from our side. We've taken the matter up with out Mumbai counterpart."
Meanwhile, Kushan has returned to Mumbai with his team. "I had to take the help of local police to bring Nawaz and Chitrangada safely back to Mumbai. We've rescheduled the whole film, the budget of which has increased by nearly a crore."
