It was four years back, when Farah Khan was dining at Anil Kapoor’s house, when she got a call saying that Juhi’s brother Bobby had suffered a heart attack and needed to be taken to a hospital. Remembering Bobby, Farah said, “When I got a call, Shah Rukh and Juhi were out of town for a cricket match. It was really scary to be signing papers and taking responsibility for someone else’s life, but I admitted him to the hospital. Bobby was a great producer, who had great people skills. He could get people to go out of their way and do anything. He also always wanted to make sure that everybody was comfortable on shoot. As the man responsible for the budget, you are never a popular person, but Bobby was a people’s person. Even when we are shooting Happy New Year, we think of him everyday and say if Bobby would have been here, he would have shouted at us and never let us waste money. In the end credits of my film, we had this shot of all of us throwing cake at Bobby in Main Hoon Na and paper balls at him in Om Shanti Om. Of course, it was all done in good humour as a gift to him for cutting all our money and he played along with us.
He was like family to me and he organised half of my wedding. He took care of the sangeet and flower decoration. He was a charmer, great fun and a great producer.”

Juhi Chawla’s brother Bobby Chawla died on Sunday morning after being in coma over the past few years. Shah Rukh and Juhi were both friends as well as partners in business and Bobby became both the CEO of Shah Rukh’s company Red Chillies Entertainment as well as a friend of Shah Rukh before going into coma. There was a time when Shah Rukh would visit Bobby everyday in the hospital until a few years back, when he appointed a new CEO Venky Mysore to replace Bobby as Bobby continued to be in coma. Juhi was extremely attached to her brother. In a recent interview with Bombay Times, every time the discussion of her brother came up, her eyes were full of tears and she would become speechless. Talking about her brother, she had said, “My emotional anchor was my mom. But I lost her in a car accident a year after my marriage. A few years later, my dad became sick and I lost him too. My brother Bobby is eight years older than me. As kids, he and I would fight like cats and dogs. He would often push me and I would go flying and would hate him for it. He initially moved to Delhi to work, but then returned to Mumbai to build a career. After losing her, my brother became my anchor and I thought he would be there with me through thick and thin, but he has been in coma for a few years now. My husband Jai is today my anchor in every way and I am most attached to my children, Jai and my in-laws. What Jai cannot solve for me, I leave it to time to sort itself. I was broken when I lost my mum and then again, when my brother fell ill. I became spiritual. I questioned many things and am still questioning. Sometimes I feel scared that there is no one sitting up there. Of course, I also hold on more to my family and value them even more now.” Losing her brother is a big loss for Juhi. A loss, the effect of which may reduce only over time. We pray that Juhi gets all the strength to deal with this loss.
Juhi Chawla's brother Bobby passes away

This is the perfect screenplay...look at how my brother timed it ... He gave me the biggest gift of my lifetime...saw its release... And went away..." This was Juhi’s tweet, hours after her elder brother, Sanjeev Chawla, passed away at 7 am on Sunday at Mumbai’s Jaslok hospital.
Bobby, as he was known amongst family and friends, suffered a brain hemorrhage while dining at a South Mumbai restaurant in April, 2010. Juhi, who was in Kolkata at that time for a KKR match, hurriedly flew down to be by her ailing brother's side. But despite the best of treatment, Bobby was in the state of coma for four years, before passing away.
The funeral took place at Malabar Hill’s Banganga Tank around 5 pm. The last rites were performed by Bobby’s wife Anuradha. Shah Rukh Khan, who was in Chennai as the chief guest at the music launch of Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiiyaan, flew down to the city with Deepika Padukone and rushed directly to the funeral, offering his condolences to Anuradha, Juhi and her husband Jay Mehta. Also present were filmmakers Farah Khan and Anubhav Sinha, actress Madhoo, her husband Anand Shah and designer-politician Shaina NC among others.
“His health was stable, but suddenly on Saturday his blood pressure started falling and his organs began to fail,” revealed a friend of the actress. “I got a call from her around 7 am informing me that Bobby is gone. Juhi is heart-broken but at the same time she’s consoling herself with the thought that he’s finally at peace,” added the friend.
Bobby, a close friend of Shah Rukh's was the CEO of his production house Red Chillies Entertainment. Shah Rukh later, poured out his feelings in a tweet, “When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. May Allah bless my friend’s soul.”
