PADMAAVAT grossed a good 70-75 lakhs nett apprx on its fifth Friday which took its total to over 270 crore nett. The growth should be huge on Saturday as has been the case every Saturday though SONU KE TITU KI SWEETY may play spoil sport a little but to counteract the collections are at low levels. So 70-80% should not be hard.
There are reports that it may get a release in Gujarat over the weekend and this would give it another kick start though nothing like if it had released in Gujarat in week one. There have been reports of a Gujarat release before as well but nothing really happened so remains to be seen does it actually get screened.
The lifetime total of the film looks to be heading for around 277-278 crore nett if no Gujarat or Rajasthan release till the end of its run
The collections of PADMAAVAT till date are as follows
First Week - 1,59,47,00,000
Second Week - 66,93,00,000
Third Week - 30,09,00,000
Fourth Week - 13,25,00,000 apprx
Fifth Week - 75,00,000 apprx (Friday)
TOTAL - 2,70,49,00,000 apprx
The hold over from last week AIYAARY crashed with around 20 lakhs nett business on day eight taking its eight day total to 16.50 crore nett. The film will close on around 18 crore nett on a best case scenario
BLACK PANTHER had a fair hold dropping around 70% from its first day as it collected around 1.50-160 crore nett on day eight. The collections so far are around 32.50 crore nett and the film is a decent success in India though not the runaway hit that it is in the westerrn markets.

AIYAARY is a box office disaster as it grossed around 16.25 crore nett in its first week. The film started poorly and could not do much over the weekend and then collections came down very fast over the weekdays. The occupancy was very low over the weekdays which has led to limited shows in week two with multiplexes giving it just one or two shows and that too in metros. In the rest of the country it is practically out and the film will not reach the 20 crore nett mark.
The Hollywood release BLACK PANTHER has done pretty well with first week business of 31 crore nett apprx. The film started very well and even held well on Monday but the falls were likely as the collections were better than the appreciation of the film as far as India goes.
The film will probably see a drop over the second week but it has still done well enough in the opening week to emerge a success and is a Semi Hit/Average fare
PAD MAN saw a drop of 78% in its second week. The film has done pretty well in places like Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and Kolkata where collections match a 100 crore nett plus film like JOLLY LLB 2 released at the same time as PAD MAN last year but its the core Hindi markets which have not really performed for the film.
In the Mumbai city/Thane belt PAD MAN has collected 11.25 crore nett in two weeks while JOLLY LLB 2 had grossed 11.50 crore nett in two weeks but In Delhi city its a huge gap with JOLLY LLB 2 at 9.50 crore and PAD MAN at 6.50 crore nett. The first two week collections of PAD MAN are as follows
First Week - 62,00,00,000 apprx
Second Week - 13,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 75,50,00,000
PADMAAVAT did very well in week four with collections of 13.25 crore nett which is the fourth highest week four ever after BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION, 3 IDIOTS and DANGAL though on fair value its higher than 3 IDIOTS and DANGAL because if it was screened all over India, it would have collected 16.25 crore nett. BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION is another different level with 29.11 crore nett. The films was rock steady in the Tue - Thu period. The collections of PADMAAVAT till date are as follows
First Week - 1,59,47,00,000
Second Week - 66,93,00,000
Third Week - 30,09,00,000
Fourth Week - 13,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 2,69,74,00,000 apprx

BLACK PANTHER has done decent business of close to 19 crore nett in its first weekend but the film has not really gone through considering the very good start. The film saw growth over the weekend but it is lower than what Hollywood releases should be doing.
The film will still manage to decent business though the reports are mixed with the Indian audience which will probably mean it is tough to have a sustained for 3-4 weeks.
The first two day collections of BLACK PANTHER are as follows
Friday - 5,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 6,50,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 7,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 18,75,00,000 apprx
------------------------------------
BLACK PANTHER has held well on Monday with collections of 3.25 crore nett on its first Monday. The drop is just in the 35% range when the trend over weekend suggested a bigger drop. The total collections of the film are 22 crore nett and the week should hit 30 crore nett.
There is still doubt for a long run but the Monday number ensures the film is at least average at the box office with possibility of going higher depending on week two or week three collections.
The first four day collectons of Black Panther are as follows
Friday - 5,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 6,50,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 7,00,00,000 apprx
Monday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 22,00,00,000 apprx
------------------------------------
Black Panther also saw a 20% drop in collections but it is still doing decent business though a sustained run is looking tough. The business of BLACK PANTHER is as follows.
Tuesday - 2,50,00,000
TOTAL - 24,50,00,000 (5 Days)
Aiyaary collects 7.50 cr in 2 days; Black Panther collects 11.50 cr

AIYAARY showed growth of around 30% to collect 4.25 crore nett on its second day but it is not good enough for the film as the only way forward was a 5 crore nett second day which would have given the film a chance. The two day total of the film stands at 7.50 crore nett and that is far too low.
The film is mainly collecting in metros so Sunday growth on a best case scenario can match the Saturday growth. The collections of AIYAARY over the first two days are as follows.
Friday - 3,25,00,000
Saturday - 4,25,00,000
TOTAL - 7,50,00,000
BLACK PANTHER showed an upturn of 20% on Saturday which is lower than normal for a Hollywood release but the film had opened far bigger than what the film is worth for the Indian market. The two day business of the film is around 11.50 crore nett but the trend on Saturday suggests its going to find it hard in the long run in India.
The film may be setting the box office ablaze worldwide but India is a different market altogether and goes its own way. Even AIYAARY which is not going to do much managed to show a better Saturday trend.
The first two day collectons of Black Panther are as follows
Friday - 5,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 6,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 11,50,00,000
Aiyaary collects 3.25 cr on Day 1; Black Panther collects 5.25 cr

AIYAARY had a low opening of 3-3.25 crore nett with the film opening slow and just having the normal evening follow up when it really had to improve. This makes it very tough for the film as thriller films don't really show huge growth on day two and this film needs to be going 60-70% up to have a chance.
The promos were not impressive and the film hardly had any music but the film had fair production values so though a big opening was never going to happen but it should also not be down in the 3 crore nett range. The film showed the same picture all over with poor collections.
AIYAARY has opened in that same range as the last few Sidharth Malhotra films. The lowest opener of the below films in the morning shows was actually ITTEFAQ but it showed by fat the best growth in evening shows
Aiyaary - 3-3.25 crore nett apprx
Ittefaq - 3,69,00,000 crore nett
A Gentleman - 3,73,00,000 crore nett
BLACK PANTHER which was playing on almost 55% of the screens of AIYAARY did very well as it grossed 5-5.25 crore nett on day one. The film was very good in all the metros and even collected better than AIYAARY in the smaller circuits where Hollywood films have a lesser market unless its a franchise film.
It remains to be seen how the film goes in India though with this opening it is pretty much assured of a good weekend with the test coming on Monday.
