SHUBH MANGAL ZYADA SAAVDHAN finished its run on 57.50 crore nett as the fourth week took a huge hit due to the cinemas being shut because of Coronavirus. Its unlikely the film would have hit 60 crore nett even if things were normal.

The film has seen rejection more or less across the board but it got a huge 40 crore satellite and digital deal which covered around 80% of its costs so it will make good money. The theatrical run is a downer for all concerned as the film had a so so opening and then more importantly could not sustain at the box office.

SHUBH MANGAL ZYADA SAAVDHAN collected 2.10 crore nett in its third weekend as the release of BAAGHI 3 meant limited screens. The film has collected 56 crore nett so far and it looks set to cross the business of MALANG which will leave it behind TANHAJI: THE UNSUNG WARRIOR and STREET DANCER.

SHUBH MANGAL ZYADA SAAVDHAN has done well in Delhi NCR although the Delhi/UP circuit numbers are not really reflective of it as UP state has not collected well. The Delhi NCR collections of the film are of a SEMI HIT/HIT film but its metros like Mumbai and Pune should have done better. The film looks likely to have more collections in Delhi/UP as compared to Mumbai circuit at the end of its run.

The collections may be okay for the second week but if you allow for the fact that the competition was a weak film like THAPPAD, then the numbers should have been better for the week. The 60 crore nett mark seems to be out of reach for the film unless the third Friday hardly drops on Thursday.

The growth was pretty good over the weekend for the film and the fact that there was only THAPPAD for competition helped as against a bigger film, it would not do these numbers. The 60 crore nett mark is there on the trend of the film but with BAAGHI 3 releasing this week, that trend will probably not continue into week three.

The film managed to grow on Saturday and Sunday but collections were very low on Friday. The writing was on the wall pretty much in the first weekend as a film of this genre had to open better.

The 60 crore nett mark will depend on whether it can do business with the competition of BAAGHI 3. It is probably the best it can do but that will be a decent final total. The film has been aided by pretty good business in the Delhi NCR area and the film is being held together by this market collecting well.

The collections of the film are now around 44 crore nett and it does have a chance of hitting the 60 crore nett mark which would make the film an average runner though a lot depends on what happens next week when BAAGHI 3 releases.

BHOOT: PART ONE – THE HAUNTED SHIP fell around 10-12% on Tuesday when in order to have any chance of survival, it had to collect in the same range of Monday. This takes the total of the film to 19.75 crore nett and the first week looking to be a low 22.50-23 crore nett. The only minor plus is that the weekday trend is actually better than SHUBH MANGAL ZYADA SAAVDHAN but BHOOT: PART ONE – THE HAUNTED SHIP missed out totally on weekend collections.

The film is better in metros like Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore but there has been total rejection in North and all mass markets like Rajasthan, CP Berar, CI and Gujarat/Saurashtra. The best hope for the film is a 30 crore nett final total and even that depends on a decent hold on Friday as getting 6-7 crore nett in week two will not be easy.

BHOOT: PART ONE – THE HAUNTED SHIP came down on Monday as it collected 2 crore nett which is 60% drop from Friday but real value drop is around 45% as the film was boosted by Mahashivratri on Friday. This 45% drop would not have actually been too bad if the film had collected better of the weekend.

The film did not do well in the Hindi mass circuits so was depending on the metros and mini metros but the film collected very poorly in Delhi, Noida, Chandigarh and Gurgaon belt and when a film with a limited audience collects such low numbers in these areas then its a tough task to work. The collections are a bit better in Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore but they cant be called good here either. The only plus is low costs though horror genre and no music means less revenue from satellite, digital and music but enough to make it safe. The rejections from the audience is there though.

BHOOT: PART ONE – THE HAUNTED SHIP had a low weekend of 16 crore nett but that is expected and the problem is the trend as it did not grow on Sunday and it needed more growth on Saturday. It is the Sunday number which hurts as no Sunday growth could mean a struggle over the weekdays.

The film has done better in the multiplexes of Mumbai and South but the mass markets are dull and horror normally performs well in mass markets. The problem here is the horror is more the Hollywood type so only metros have a chance but here they have not collected as they should. The film did face competition from SHUBH MANGAL ZYADA SAAVDHAN but has not affected the film as there is more than enough space for these type of films.

BHOOT: PART ONE – THE HAUNTED SHIP showed growth of 10% which is decent considering its coming off a holiday. The film collected 5.50 crore nett to take its total to 10.50 crore nett. This means that real value growth for the film is 45-50% which is reasonable.

Obviously it should be more due to the lower starting point but as its horror genre its hard to expected big growth like a social or film or a comedy for the big big centres. The second day keeps BHOOT: PART ONE – THE HAUNTED SHIP in the race due to the low costs but a lot depends on the Monday number. Good growth on Sunday can be a plus for the film but that may be difficult though it should jump more than it did on Saturday.

SHUBH MANGAL ZYADA SAAVDHAN had good first day collections of 9-9.25 crore nett but that has came on Mahashivratri which takes the shine off the collections as real value goes down towards the 7 crore nett range. The collections are pretty much in the range of BALA and DREAM GIRL which were 9.32 crore and 9.43 crore nett respectively. It is the the third highest opening day for and Ayushmann Khurana starrer but should have been his first double digit opening day due to Mahashivratri if it really performed on day one.

The film has done well in Delhi/UP and pretty well in East Punjab while other circuits are just decent but has managed the third best opening day of 2020 after TANHAJI: THE UNSUNG WARRIOR and LOVE AAJ KAL. Its a healthy first day number and if we take real value as 7 crore nett and the film can show good Saturday growth from the real value, it will be set for a good weekend of 30 crore nett plus which is a good result for the film. Last week saw LOVE AAJ KAL crash huge from a holiday benefit on day one but it will not happen here.

BHOOT: PART ONE – THE HAUNTED SHIP had a decent number of 5 crore nett and this film was better in places like Nizam/Andhra and Bengal. But the real value of around 3.75-4 crore nett is on the lower side for this genre. The numbers should have been a little higher due to the holiday. Again it will depend on where the film can go on Saturday and it needs to do more business than Friday to stay in the race. There will not be huge growth but there are chances the film can go a little higher than Friday.

The film has recorded very poor collections in North multiplexes where SHUBH MANGAL ZYADA SAAVDHAN is probably doing treble the business of BHOOT: PART ONE – THE HAUNTED SHIP.
