BADRINATH KI DULHANIA grossed 3.50 crore nett in its fourth week to take its four week total to 112.50 crore nett. The film is the highest grosser of the year in Rajasthan and CI and at the end of the fifth weekend Delhi/UP, CP Berar and Bihar will join those circuits. It has also beaten the figures of the last films of all the big stars outside the Khans.

BADRINATH KI DULHANIA had a very strong hold on its third Monday as it grossed 1 crore nett which is just a 20% drop from Friday. The film is actually trending best in the third week as it heads for a third week of 10 crore nett which is by far the best thurd week total of 2017. JOLLY LLB 2 had grossed 7.75 crore nett while the collections of RAEES & KAABIL were 2.50 crore nett and 3.50 crore nett respectively.

No film featuring Varun Dhawan or Alia Bhatt has held this strongly and it will be the highest collection third week collections for both stars. The film is now on course to become the second highest grosser of the year by the end of the weak and will also be the highest grosser of 2017 in a few circuits. The drop is a little under 70% which is a little more than the 65% on its second Friday but the competition was also stronger this week with PHILLAURI compared to the likes of MACHINE and TRAPPED.

JOLLY LLB 2 has the best third Friday of the year at 1.75 crore nett but it got advantage of a holiday for Mahashivratri which could leave the weekly collections of BADRINATH KI DULHANIA lower than JOLLY LLB 2 despite it being liked more and having a better trend. The business is also in the same range as ABCD 2 (71.87 crore nett) which is the highest first week for a Varun Dhawan starrer outside the Shah Rukh Khan led DILWALE. The competition is weak this week with films like AA GAYA HERO, MACHINE and TRAPPED. So the film will still be leading the box office race but a strong hold is important if the film is really to benefit from the fact there are no high profile releases for the next 5-6 weeks.

BADRINATH KI DULHANIA had a good first weekend of 42 crore nett apprx even though business was affected by pre Holi and the start of exams. The film grew very well on Saturday but on Sunday some theatres did not start screenings till evening due to Holi and this limited the growth on Sunday. This should be recovered over the next couple of days. The best business has come in Delhi/UP but this market could have been even better were it not for some of these factors. The film has not out performed in the North as it should have but it should after Holi and in the long run. Mumbai has done very well for a North based film. The opening is the third best of the year after RAEES (59.48 crore) and JOLLY LLB 2 (47.59 crore) and has easily beaten far bigger films like KAABIL (30.65 crore) and RANGOON (14.43 crore) though these films were poor at the box office and so is probably not right to compare a successful film with them.

The first film in the series HUMPTY SHARMA KI DULHANIA released in 2014 grossed 32.97 crore nett. So its a healthy 25% improvement on that film and this improvement should be higher over the film. The costs are pretty low and so it is a success just due to the weekend business but eventually a film has to sustain and how well this can sustain will be known on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The film had lost some business over the weekend and it made up some extra ground on Monday. The collections were higher in some circuits on Monday than on the first day.
