Actor is reaching out with essentials to the needy in Malegaon too, besides city suburbs like Bandra, Madh Island and Kalyan, even as he continues to support daily wage workers

Salman Khan was among the first Bollywood actors to lend support to the industry’s daily wage workers, directly transferring money to the bank account of 25,000 people registered with FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees, a worker’s union). Soon after, the actor got in touch with CINTAA (Cine & TV Artists Association) to help out-of-work actors registered with the body, then, repeated the process with the lookalikes of B-Town’s A-listers as also vertically challenged actors registered with the All India Special Artistes Association.“Salman has transferred money to the accounts of approximately 32,000 daily wage workers from different sectors of the industry in April. Another transaction to the same lot will happen around May 15. He is transferring the money in installments to ensure a steady flow of income,” revealed a source.
On Sunday night, Salman posted a video of himself loading foodgrains and vegetables in bullock cart and tractors at his farmhouse in Panvel. Mirror has learnt that in the midst of Coronavirus lockdown, the actor has been supporting all the villagers living close to his farmhouse. “He has supplied rice, lentils, vegetables, eggs and foodgrains to over 1000 families in the villages around Panvel, some of the essentials are grown in his own farm,” the source acknowledged, adding that villagers have been asked to reach out to the 54-year-old actor or his team in case of an emergency or urgent need.
“He has also procured and distributed hundreds of sanitisers and soaps to the locals so they can maintain basic hygiene.”
The source goes on to inform that recently, some people from a slum in Kalyan reached out for help and Salman got basic food items supplied to the entire locality through his on-ground team working in the city. “Around 500-600 families in Malegaon, which is one of the hotspots in Maharashtra, also got grains and vegetables recently from him, as also hundreds of impoverished families in Madh Island,” the source informed.
Meanwhile, his father, Salim Khan, who is living in their Bandra apartment, is actively involved in signing the cheques and getting things distributed in Mumbai. Salman is also in touch with his politician friend, Baba Siddique, and his son, Zeeshan, to reach the needy in Bandra and other remote suburbs.
The actor’s manager, Jordy Patel, confirmed the news to Mirror, saying, “Yes, Salman is helping in whatever way possible, on a day-to-day basis.”

BOMBAY TIMES (June 21, 2016)
Politico Baba Siddique's
iftar bash is one of the most anticipated events during Ramzan where the
who's who of Bollywood break bread with one another. Three years ago,
Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan patched up at this annual do.
On Sunday night, despite the incessant rains, the stars didn't stop pouring in. Salman, SRK, Katrina Kaif, Sooraj Pancholi, Aditi Rao Hydari, Huma Qureshi, Bipasha Basu, Karan Singh Grover, R Madhavan, Tusshar, Amy Jackson, several big filmmakers and politicians attended the bash that was held at a five-star hotel in the city. Salman's entire family, including Arpita's baby boy, Ahil, were part of the revelry. SRK came late, but stayed on for a while. Katrina, who looked lovely, was spotted with her Ek Tha Tiger director, Kabir Khan.

Baba and Zeeshan Siddique's annual iftar party on Sunday was packed with
the regular celebrity fixtures. Salman Khan arrived at 7.30 pm in a
black kurta and was seen chatting up fellow guests Katrina Kaif, Amy
Jackson, David Dhawan, Sonu Sood and newlyweds, Bipasha Basu and Karan
Singh Grover. Kat who walked in holding hands with Ali Abbas Zafar
greeted Bips with a warm hug and was overheard saying that she hurried
through a commercial shoot to make it to the bash. Meanwhile, Sallu
fussed over nephew Ahil, Arpita and Ayush Sharma's son, before making an
early exit at 9.30 pm.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Dutt who was on the guest list too remained conspicuous by his absence which added fuel to the rumours of a fallout with close friend Salman. Buzz is Siddiqui had planned to put an end to the cold war at the party but Dutt chose to give it a miss. There were no bear hugs either, since Shah Rukh Khan turned up post-midnight and was heard joking about how he had been shooting with five actresses and couldn't bear to part with them. A guest informed Mirror, "Chefs from Hyderabad, Lucknow and Delhi had been flown down to prepare Mughlai delicacies. The menu boasted of over 50 dishes including mutton sheekh kebab, haleem, kheema pav, Mutton Hyderabadi biryani. Malpua, kesar phirni, shahi tukra, mango ice cream and an assortment of cakes constituted the dessert section."
While guests stayed back to binge, Sallu caught up with girlfriend Iulia Vantur at his favourite Khar joint. The couple spent some quality time away from the shor in the city.

Bollywood’s annual iftar gathering hosted by politician Baba Siddique on Sunday turned out to be a big, fat starry affair, but for all those hoping for Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt to hug it out and put rumours of a rift to rest were left disappointed. Dutt did not show up at the party despite being in town.
Salman and Shah Rukh Khan, who had called an end to their longstanding cold war with a warm hug at Siddique’s iftar party in 2013, turned up for the grand feast on Sunday, but not at the same time.
Salman was among the first few celebs to arrive, followed by his father, Salim Khan, step mom Helen, sisters Arpita and Alvira and their respective husbands, Aayush Sharma and Atul Agnihotri. The star’s rumoured girlfriend, Iulia Vantur was also expected to join the khaandaan at the party, but she chose to give it a miss.
The Bajrangi Bhaijaan actor caught up with Katrina Kaif, who walked in with directors directors Kabir Khan and Ali Abbas Zafar. The two exes were the cynosure of all eyes as they chatted for a long time. A jovial Salman was surrounded by many other actresses who seemed all too eager to strike up a conversation with him, Esha Gupta being one of them.
After much socialising, the star exited with his father apparently to meet Iulia at a Bandra watering hole. Shah Rukh Khan made a late but much-awaited entry at around 9.30pm. SRK and Siddique go back a long way, and it was no surprise that he made it to party despite his choc-a-bloc schedule. The Fan star was said to be busy with a brand endorsement shoot at an Andheri studio and it wrapped up much later than planned.
However, Shah Rukh kept his promise to the politician to be present at the get-together; he even made up for his late arrival by spending a considerable amount of time with Siddique and his family. “SRK did not even go to his house after wrapping up the shoot. He directly drove down to the party,” says a source and adds, “By the time he reached the venue, all other celebrities had finished dinner and left.”
Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover entered the party hand-in-hand and the actress was seen playing with Arpita’s newborn, Ahil.
