Q. What are the final numbers of Baahubali and is it the biggest grosser ever in India and Worldwide?
Ans. In terms of nett gross it is the biggest grosser ever at 361 crore nett (all versions). But as regional film the entertainment tax is less in its main regions as compared a Hindi film which releases in mainly higher entertainment tax zones. The gross box office is 441 crore which is a little less than PK making it second biggest ever in India. Worldwide gross is 517 crore which is fourth best ever after PK, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Dhoom 3.

BAAHUBALI's Hindi version had an extraordinary hold in its third week as the drop from the previous week was hardly 20%. The film has grossed 90 crore nett in three weeks and will cross the 100 crore nett mark. The business in Mumbai circuit will cross 40 crore nett for the Hindi version which is more than all the outright Hindi films released this year apart from BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN. The weekly business of BAAHUBALI in Hindi till date is as follows.
Week 1 - 42,91,00,000
Week 2 - 25,87,00,000
Week 3 - 21,00,00,000 apprx.
MASAAN released last week is a poor fare and a flop at the box office. The film had a very poor start though held at very low levels on the weekdays and grossed around 2.10 crore nett over the week. The film is set in Benaras and had washout collections in the city and that raps up the fate the of the film. If the content is not going to work in the locality then it has little chance in the rest of the country.

BAAHUBALI (Hindi) has held up extremely well on the weekdays and grossed around 40 crore nett in its Hindi version. The film had a slow start on day one but picked up well in the weekend but really came into its own on the weekdays.
The business is lopsided as the Mumbai and the CP, CI area scoring much better than the other Hindi markets. The film could have broken the shackles in North India where the few South dubbed hits like BOMBAY (1995) HUMSE HAI MUQABLA (1995) and HINDUSTANI (1995) did not do as well. But BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN will probably make sure the North India final figures are less like the 90's South dubbed hits.
----------------------
BAAHUBALI (Hindi) held up well on its second Friday grossing around 2.50 crore nett. The collections are down 50% from Thursday but considering the release of a film like BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN this is a very good number. The business is down around 40% from day on which is good though the film did not open well.
BAAHUBALI (Hindi) would probably have done similar to its first day if BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN was not there or competition was from a weaker release.
Still the film should also get benefit from the Eid weekend and show good growth over the weekend and put up a good lifetime total. The film which looked a one week filler has done very well but a better release date and the film would have notched up a 100 crore nett in hindi or at least very close to it.

BAAHUBALI (Hindi) is going very strong on the weekdays as collections
were similar to Monday with some centres recording better collections
than Monday. The first five day business of BAAHUBALI (Hindi) is as
follows.
Friday - 4,25,00,000
Saturday -6,25,00,000
Sunday - 9,00,00,000
Monday - 5,50,00,000
Tuesday - 5,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 30,25,00,000
The film will close the week at 39-40 crore nett and will be interesting to see where it goes from there. The film will be the fourth dubbed hit film from South India in the last 25 years. The other three being BOMBAY (1995) HUMSE HAI MUQABALA (1995) and HINDUSTANI (1996).

BAAHUBALI (Hindi) has done well over its first weekend grossing around 19.50 crore nett. More than than the weekend total its the trend on Saturday and Sunday that indicates that the film has found appreciation in some Hindi markets despite being a dubbed film from South India.
The business was very good in Mumbai circuit, CP Berar and CI. The other circuits also picked up but due to low start the overall collections were on lower side as compared to the above circuits
The film has done record breaking business in its Telugu format grossing around 65 crore nett apprx across India. The all India collections of the film in all languages are around 98-100 crore nett which is on par with collections of HAPPY NEW YEAR including its Tamil and Telugu format. It is behind Dhoom 3 which was over 100 crore nett including Tamil and Telugu formats.
But Hindi films can be compared against Hindi films in nett collections as release patterns are same, comparing with other languages it has to be gross as taxes differ for different languages and regional films have tax benefits in their local states. So in real terms which is gross collections, Baahubali has the fourth biggest opening weekend ever in India after DHOOM 3, HAPPY NEW YEAR and PK which is no mean feat for a regional film though the huge expenditure and release (on all formats) is on par if not more than any big budget Hindi film.
-----------------------
BAAHUBALI (Hindi) had a fantastic hold on Monday with collections close to its Saturday number. The film went past its Friday figure as even multiplexes recorded better collections despite lower ticket rates. The first four day business of BAAHUBALI (hindi) is as follows.
Friday - 4,25,00,000
Saturday -6,25,00,000
Sunday - 9,00,00,000
Monday - 5,75,00,000
TOTAL - 25,25,00,000
The film is now heading for a week of around 40 crore nett and normal cases lifetime would be looking at least double of week one for this type of trend but it remains to be seen how much it can add after the release of BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN. The Telegu version did see a drop in business as the opening was extraordinary in that format.
Baahubali's Hindi version collects 10.50 cr in 2 days; I Love NY 50 lacs on Day 1

I Love NY had poor first day grossing around 40-50 lakhs nett. The film does not have much of a chance even if was to show big growth on Saturday.
BAAHUBALI (Hindi) managed to do decent business in Mumbai, CP Berar and CI but North and East India were dull. The first day collections were around 4.25 crore nett which is the highest for dubbed film from South India. But its the usual trend for dubbed films where Mumbai and Central India give them a chance compared to other circuits.
The collections in Mumbai were 2 crore nett plus while Delhi / UP was just 25% of Mumbai at 55 lakhs nett. A lot will depend if it can show good growth on Saturday but even if it was not it will still turn out to be a good one week filler before BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN especially in Mumbai CP Berar and CI.
The Punjabi film HERO NAAM YAAD RAKHI fared poorly grossing 55 lakhs nett all India.
-------------------------------
BAAHUBALI (Hindi) did well on Saturday as it showed a good jump. The film will now become a rare success for a dubbed film from South India. The first two day business of BAAHUBALI (Hindi) is as follows.
Friday - 4,25,00,000
Saturday -6,25,00,000
TOTAL - 10,50,00,000
The business in North India us still low despite the healthy jump but Mumbai and Central India markers are doing well and that should be enough for this film. The Telugu version of the film which us also being screened in major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Pune showed limited growth as that had opened to strong occupancies on Friday.
