CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR dominated the Hindi releases this week as it grossed around 42 crore nett. The film looks like being among the top ten Hollywood grossers in India.

The Hindi releases were led by the holdover BAAGHI as it grossed 12.50 crore nett in its second week taking its two week total to 72 crore nett. The film is a hit and the only Hindi film of the year so far to do well all over. The next best was 1920 LONDON which grossed 12.25 crore nett in week one and did average business at select mass centres. This film for some weird reason was actually released Overseas on decent number of screens and it never had a chance. The film will not even cover release costs in Overseas.

The other releases - ONE NIGHT STAND and TRAFFIC - were dull as the former grossed 3-3.25 crore nett and the latter 3.25-3.50 crore nett. TRAFFIC did pick up with such low starting point it makes little difference

BAAGHI did fair business on its second Monday and the week should go clsoe to 12 crore nett. The four day second week business of BAAGHI is as follows
Friday - 2,25,00,000
Saturday - 2,50,00,000
Sunday - 3,00,00,000
Monday - 1,25,00,000
Total - 9,00,00,000

The film is the second biggest hit of the year with its likely film share to be around 37 crore which is far more than all the films this year barring AIRLIFT and FAN and the latter did not perform.

BAAGHI saw a drop in business over the second weekend as multiplexes could not grow much on Saturday and Sunday. The film continued its strong run in single screens. The second weekend business of BAAGHI is as follows
Friday - 2,25,00,000
Saturday - 2,50,00,000
Sunday - 3,00,00,000
Total - 7,75,00,000

Despite the drop the film has still done very well and the total after ten days stands at around 67 crore nett with a distributor share of 34 crore which is far higher than its production budget and almost the price paid for its Worldwide rights.

BAAGHI had a decent eight day as it grossed 2.25 crore nett and has taken its business to over 61 crore nett. The drop is around 80% from first day but coming off such a good opening day the collections on day eight are still good. The business of BAAGHI till date is as follows.
Week One - 59,00,00,000
Day 8 - 2,25,00,000

The film has the third highest distributor share of the year already in just 8 days behind AIRLIFT & FAN. The weekend should go to around 9 crore nett but depends on the Saturday growth and it might be less than normal second weekend growth of successful films as its best areas are mass centres which have less growth on Saturday.

Baaghi collects 59 cr in Week 1

Box Office India Trade Network

BAAGHI had a very good first week by collecting 59 crore nett in week one. The film fared average in the high end multiplexes but still put up good to excellent number in all circuits. The first week collections are only behind AIRLIFT and FAN for the year both of which had big male lead stars.

BAAGHI is that traditional box office hit where everyone in the chain makes good money. The film was made for a production cost of 25 crore then the rights went for 35 crore giving good table profit. The worldwide distributors are in Overflow before the week is out and exhibitors across the country will earn including single screens all over which does not even happen with many hit films.

The film managed solid holds over the weekdays and the main competition will come from Hollywood with CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR but BAAGHI should continue strong in mass circuits where Hollywood films struggle to penetrate unless its THE JUNGLE BOOK.

BAAGHI held up very well on Monday grossing 6.50 crore nett which is a drop of around 45% from day one. The first four day business of BAAGHI is as follows
Friday - 11,75,00,000
Saturday - 11,00,00,000
Sunday - 15,50,00,000
Monday - 6,50,00,000 apprx
Total - 44,75,00,000

The holds on Monday are good all over with UP and Nizam being best and the first week business should be in the 58-59 crore nett range which is excellent.
---------------------
BAAGHI held up well on Tuesday and has now crossed the 50 crore nett mark. The first five day business of BAAGHI is as follows
Friday - 11,75,00,000
Saturday - 11,00,00,000
Sunday - 15,50,00,000
Monday - 6,50,00,000
Tuesday - 5,75,00,000
Total - 50,50,00,000

The mass circuits continue to be strong with some centres in UP, MP and Gujarat showing very minimal fall from Monday. The first week should be around 59 crore nett for the film.

BAAGHI had a very good first weekend as it set weekend highs for the year in many circuits. The share of business coming from single screens is huge. Business in the multiplexes is also good. The premium properties were average but that is a limited audience anyway. The first weekend business of BAAGHI is as follows
Friday - 11,75,00,000
Saturday - 11,00,00,000
Sunday - 15,50,00,000
Total - 38,25,00,000

The film set records for the year in Rajasthan, CP Berar, CI, Bihar, Assam, Orissa, Gujarat and Saurashtra. These circuits have seen the figures of films featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar beaten. GABBAR IS BACK released exactly one year ago and grossed 38.95 crore nett and BAAGHI has beaten that film in mass centres also.

BAAGHI recorded the second biggest opening of the year as it grossed 11.50-11.75 crore nett. The mass circuits recorded oustanding collections be it CP Berar, CI, Rajasthan, Bihar, Assam or Orrisa. All the above circuits are records for 2016 barring Rajasthan. The figures were better than FAN in all except Rajasthan.

The bigger circuits like Mumbai, Delhi/UP and East Punjab may not have been excellent but are still good and that is more than enough for the film. The opening is better than Akshay Kumar's AIRLIFT and only below Shah Rukh Khan's FAN but these are among the biggest stars of the country.

The multiplex business has potential to grow on Saturday and all the film has to really do is just hold collections at this level on Saturday and the job will be done. The film can even afford a slight drop.
