My first Hollywood film Eternals has a Bollywood twist, with dancing, and we all just loved it-Don Lee

Sugandha Rawal (HINDUSTAN TIMES; November 10, 2021)

Korean superstar Don Lee is all set to explore Hollywood, but admits that he doesn’t just want to expand his horizons as an actor, but also as a producer.

“I’m getting a lot of offers from other Hollywood movies too, but I was glad to get a great start with a superhero film (Eternals), which comes studded with a huge ensemble,” admits Lee.

Over the years, Lee has attained the position of being one of the most successful actors in South Korea. He entered the scene with Train To Busan (2016), and then he went on to do projects such as Derailed (2016), The Bros (2017), and The Outlaws (2017). For his Hollywood debut, he joined actors Angelina Jolie and Kit Harington in the superhero film.

“When a project has someone like Angelina Jolie, you have to take it. I’m happy with my debut. Now, I will be producing some Hollywood films, and plan to star in them, too. [But for now], I am just going to produce them, so let’s see what happens in the future,” he shares.

He has expanded his horizons to the West, and one wonders if Bollywood is also on his wishlist. Mention this, and he laughs, admitting he doesn’t have the right skills for it.

“I am a bad dancer, so I don’t know if I would be able to do anything in Bollywood. But my first Hollywood film has a Bollywood twist, (with dancing), and we all just loved it,” he says.

I always felt a part of the country during my time in India-Angelina Jolie

Oscar-winning actor Angelina Jolie opens up about the connection she feels with India
Sugandha Rawal (HINDUSTAN  TIMES; October 26, 2021)

Hollywood actor Angelina Jolie — during an exclusive chat with HT City — admits that she feels like she has a special connection with India. “I don’t know if it’s the density of the population [or something else], but there is this [feeling of] humanity [which] is very present (in India). Because of the nature of (the country), be it on the trains or in the streets, you feel right [when you are] together,” shares the 46-year-old, who visited the country for the first time in 2006.

The multi-award winning actor adds that even during that time she has never felt like an outsider: “I felt a part of the country. I felt the energy, the intensity and the humanity. I’d like to come back again soon.”

In recent times, Jolie was one of the few global icons who expressed her ‘grief, solidarity’ for the people of the country during the pandemic and she also remembered her A Mighty Heart (2007) co-star late actor Irrfan upon his passing.

Though she yearns to visit the country soon, she reveals that she was happy to find some “desi” link to her upcoming Hollywood film, Eternals, which comes with a Bollywood twist in the plotline and also stars Indian actor Harish Patel.

Quiz her if she ever wishes to enter the world of Bollywood, the Oscar-winning actor chuckles, “I don’t know how good I would be at it.”

Besides making an impact on screen, Jolie has spent over 20 years pitching in efforts to change the world through various campaigns. And the actor asserts that she picks projects that reflect her principles. “The themes of representation, diversity and sisterhood are very important to me. It is also the reason I agreed to make the film, Eternals. They explained to me this vision (of expanding the Marvel universe with these themes), and I felt that I wanted to be a part of this family,” concludes the mother of six.

I am getting an opportunity to spread awareness about breast cancer through Instagram-Tahira Kashyap

Tahira Kashyap: I'm spreading hope on Instagram
Aastha Atray Banan (MID-DAY; December 30, 2018)

On September 22, Tahira Kashyap Khurrana, posted on Instagram about being detected with breast cancer. With a picture that showed her in hospital scrubs, and holding surgical drains in both hands, she said, "I was detected with DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ) in my right breast with high grade malignant cells. Simply put stage 0 cancer/pre-cancerous stage, with cancer cells multiplying in a contained area." She got a mastectomy done, but spoke about it in a light-hearted way. "The result? I have become a half, Indian version of Angelina Jolie, who had a double mastectomy."

When we speak to her, she is exactly like the bundle of positivity she comes across on social media. "The other day, my mother said, 'Oh, what a tough year.' And I said, 'No, this has been such a beautiful year,'" says the 35-year-old director, married to actor Ayushmann Khurrana.

"I am so grateful I got detected early. And now, I am getting an opportunity to spread awareness about the disease through Instagram. I know social media can be time-consuming, but I use it selflessly and selfishly. People relate to what I am going through and I am happy I can spread hope, but after hearing so many experiences, I feel better about my life, too."

Khurrana, who also credits her daily habit of Buddhist chanting for giving her strength, thinks that having cancer has helped her know how significant she is. "The world needs me, and you. And despite the chemo, in my head I have already dealt with it." At the end, Khurrana says it's also about relying on your solid foundation, which is family and friends. "I never thought I could be like this. I now know this is my mission - to spread awareness and hope - and I will do the best I can."

Hollywood film poster featuring Shah Rukh Khan with Leonardo DiCaprio and Angelina Jolie is fake

The poster
Anirban Das (MID-DAY; August 25, 2015)

Rumours about Shah Rukh Khan making his Hollywood debut have resurfaced with a film poster featuring the star along with Leonardo Di Caprio and Angelina Jolie doing the rounds. However, sources close to SRK have dismissed the buzz, saying that the poster is doctored.

In 2011, speculations were rife about Shah Rukh sharing screen space with DiCaprio in a cross-cultural thriller titled Xtreme City being made by Martin Scorsese. There were reports that the star met the film’s team in Berlin to discuss the story. Mushtaq Sheikh, the actor’s biographer and screenplay writer, was also reportedly developing the script and was present in the meeting.

A source, however, says, “But he did not attend any such meeting. The reports were baseless and there is no such film being planned. SRK’s fans have made pages on Facebook and are sharing the poster. People should not consider it true as the information is not shared by Shah Rukh’s official account.” SRK is currently busy with his projects. “He will dedicating a lot of time to his upcoming films and this international project is not happening. A fan must have made the poster to publish it online. Since it features big actors, the poster has started doing the rounds once again,” adds the source.

Amyra Dastur's role similar to Angelina Jolie's character in Salt?

A pinch of Salt
Ankur Pathak (MUMBAI MIRROR; May 3, 2014)

Not much is known about Vikram Bhatt’s upcoming thriller Mr. X, which features Emraan Hashmi and Amyra Dastur. While Emraan plays a character who can turn invisible at will, Mirror has learnt that Amyra will play an undercover agent in the film.

Speculation was rife that Amyra’s part is inspired by Salman Khan’s portrayal of Chulbul Pandey in Dabangg and its sequel, but a source close to the film’s production revealed that right from her styling to the cars she drives, her character has a lot in common with Angelina Jolie’s 2010 thriller Salt. However, the film is not inspired by the Hollywood flick.

When contacted, the film’s producer Mahesh Bhatt said, “It’s ridiculous. Amyra’s role, in fact, is quite the opposite of Chulbul. She’s a sophisticated, well-groomed woman working for the law enforcement, who faces a moral conflict because of a romantic liaison with Emraan’s character. I’d say it’s more on the lines of Jolie in Salt than a Chulbul Pandey who has a small-town -like flamboyance.”

Does this mean that Emmy is on the wrong side of the law? “You could say that. The film taps into the gray areas between love and the law,” Bhatt acknowledged.

Mr. X, which is being extensively shot in South Africa, is gearing up for a release early next year.
