ANDHADHUN has become the third highest grossing film in China as it crossed $45 million and the figures of BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN. The film may not reach the $50 million mark as AVENGERS: ENDGAME released in China which has meant a huge fall in the collections of ANDHADHUN.

AVENGERS: ENDGAME hit around 55000 plus screens meaning a reduction of 60% in screens on Thursday which meant collections had to drop. The film has had a huge run so far collecting 315 crore compared to the 93 crore gross in India.

The film mainly scored in Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore in India but is a far bigger HIT in China following the path of films like SECRET SUPERSTAR and HINDI MEDIUM which were liked far more than the Chinese crowd than the core Hindi film crowd. BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION and SULTAN have seen the opposite results where the Hindi crowd appreciated a lot but did not make an impact with the Chinese.

ANDHADHUN hit the $30 million mark in China after its second weekend making it the fifth highest grossing Indian film in China and it will be fourth in a matter of days as it crosses HINDI MEDIUM.

ANDHADHUN had grossed $10.70 million over the first weekend and has grossed $10.25 million in its second weekend. The collections in the second weekend are lower but in real terms they have gone up as the Friday of the first weekend was a national holiday. The second Saturday and Sunday recorded better collections that the first Saturday and Sunday.

This film can put up a very big number in China as its a long runner. BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN which is at number three will probably be crossed by ANDHADHUN at the pace it is going at present. It could go over $50 million (INR 350 cr).

ANDHADHUN is a big success in China as it grossed $2 million apprx on its second Friday. The total so far for the film is $21.50m (INR 150 cr) but more than that, it is the strong hold which is important. The collections last Friday were almost $3.40 million but it was a national holiday in China.

The figures on Saturday and Sunday will give a better idea how strong this hold is but it does look impressive allowing for the holiday factor. It seems the film may well cross the $33 million of HINDI MEDIUM which is the fourth highest grossing Indian film in China.

The film had a 93 crore gross in India and the way China is going it will be three or even four times more in China.

ANDHADHUN had a good hold on Monday with business if nearly $1.5 million. There is a drop from Friday but that was a national holiday but if we take Sunday the drop is hardly 55% which is better than normal. ANDHADHUN had done pretty well in India with very good business in Mumbai and Mysore but the business in China is already way ahead of India.

The film had a GROSS box office of 93.20 crore but China stands at 105 crore in just six days. The film is seventh on the all time list for Indian films in China after six days and will probably finish among the top five. The first week of ANDHADHUN in China should be around $19 million which is over 131 crore.

The film is certain to be among the top five Indian films in China but as it was holiday weekend in China in it is difficult to tell actually how big the weekend is. It is about how the weekdays perform and a realistic target should be around $20 million for the week.

HINDI MEDIUM is the fourth highest Indian grosser in China at around $33 million and if the film can hold on Monday then it could target that number although at the moment its looks difficult. That's because HINDI MEDIUM also had a holiday five day weekend but that film was at $21m over the five days.

This should mean the film can get over the 20 crore nett mark though that is still bad. If there had been some decent releases then this film would have been out. The collections this Friday show how lack of genuine releases can really help holdover films irrespective of appreciation. It can be said there were other releases last week like KAASHI - IN SEARCH OF GANGA and 5 WEDDINGS and those have not held but those are in the same bracket as the films this week and you cant call them genuine releases.
