For a while now, there has been speculation about the release date of Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. We can tell you that the Kangana Ranaut-starrer will hit the screens on August 3. Earlier, the historical drama was slated to release on April 27, but now it has moved ahead by four months. There were reports of it being delayed due to the extensive work on VFX, but a source close to the unit dismisses it.

“Everything is going on track. Shooting is currently on in Alsisar, Rajasthan. They will complete it today and tomorrow onwards, filming will start in Bikaner where it will continue until the end of this month. With this, the movie’s shoot will also be wrapped up. There is ample time for post-production. They could have released the film on April 27, but they decided to come in August because it is the month of our Independence. Rani Lakshmibai’s battle against the Britishers was the first fight for freedom, so looking at the emotion, the call was taken to release it in August,” adds the source.

The period drama, which stars Kangana Ranaut in the titular role, also features Atul Kulkarni in a pivotal role as Tatya Tope, and Sonu Sood as Sadashiv.

Sonam Kapoor is all set to take off to Rajasthan on special invitation from boyfriend, Anand Ahuja, who is hosting two acts at the Magnetic Fields Festival, at the luxurious Alsisar Mahal.

Located in north-west Rajasthan, the palace will see artists from London, Paris, New York and across India perform while the 31-year-old actress will promote her bizman beau’s chic clothing brand, among other things at the mega event. “Amazing! Can’t wait (sic),” Sonam shared on her Instagram page with a picture of the invitation on Wednesday. The festival kicked off on Friday morning and will continue till Sunday night.

Sonam and Anand, who’ve often been snapped vacationing in London together, will be attending the hip-hop performances by Raji Rags and Khalil, the founding members of Livin’ Proofs, along with electronic producer-DJ Napolean Gold, as well as the postfestival party on December 13.

The Delhi-based entrepreneur and Sonam have been close friends for a while and in a relationship for the last one year.
