Dum Laga Ke Haisha 10.75 cr in Week 1; 2nd week could be as good or even better

DUM LAGE KE HAISHA grossed around 10.75 crore nett in week one and
although this is a low figure it is good considering the opening it
took. The film is set for a good run over the
coming few weeks.
The weekdays hold was very good with no drop between Monday and Thursday as the collections on all the 4 days was over 1 crore nett and remained at a similar level which was also the level at which the film opened on Friday. The best day was Thursday as it got benefit in the evening of the holiday on the next day.
The film fared best in North with east Punjab grossing around 1.40 crore nett and Delhi/UP grossing around 2.60 crore nett. In short, nearly 40% of its all India business was from North. Mumbai grossed around 3.40 crore nett which was a 33% contribution. The film has chances to repeat its first week business in week two looking at the trend of week one. DUM LAGE KE HAISHA had a very good eighth day as it grossed around 1.75 crore nett. It was a half day at many places due to Holi with multiplexes shut till around 4pm so the film mainly got these collections in the evening. It helped that it was a holiday.
The eighth day collections are the best for the film barring it's first Saturday and Sunday. The film grossed around 10.75 crore nett in week one which is a meagre amount for a first week total but it will be a totally different story in week two as collections could match week one or even surpass depending how the week unfolds.
Normally there would be 60-70% growth on the second Saturday but here will be interesting to see if the film improves on Saturday and if so by how much as Saturday evening has the best occupancies at multiplexes. But this time they may not be able to match Friday evening due to the holiday factor so gains will come from morning and afternoon shows. There was also the match on Friday which could have hit collections which makes Saturday even harder to call.

AB TAK CHHAPPAN 2 had a poor first week grossing around 6.50 crore nett. FLOP

BADLAPUR grossed 9.50 crore nett in its second week taking its two week total to 45.25 crore nett approx. The drop in week two was around 75%. Despite the drop in collections the film has done well and may just touch 50 crore nett lifetime in its run
The drop came mainly as Mumbai circuit fell. It is Gujarat which holds best in the circuit but Gujarat is under performing for BADLAPUR. North India held up best in week two with drops of around 70%.
The film will finish with the same lifetime total as a similar film HAIDER released last year, the difference being that BADLAPUR has a much lower cost.

DUM LAGA KE HAISHA held on strongly on Monday with collections a little less than Friday. The film is trending very well. The first four day business of DUM LAGA KE HAISHA is as follows.

TOTAL - 7,05,00,000
The Monday business ensures a good run for the film over the next 2-3 weeks and will put up a decent lifetime total, or even a good one if it holds on for longer. There were centres which recorded better figures on Monday than Friday but they were the ones where the opening was very weak.
This film is the second success of the year after BADLAPUR and remains to be seen where the lifetime business goes.

which should mean a good run for the film.. The weekend business of DUM LAGA KE HAISHA is as follows.

The most important things with multiplex films which don't open is huge growth on Saturday (which happened with DUM LAGA KE HAISHA) and then a Monday total similar to Friday if not better. So with the film doing what was needed on Saturday it is about Monday
This sort of Saturday jump suggests a strong hold on Monday with the only issue being a complete multiplex release. This means ticket prices being 20% less than Friday almost everywhere and so it has to cover this with extra footfalls compared to Friday.

AB TAK CHHAPPAN 2 and DUM LAGA KE HAISHA had poor collections on day with AB TAK CHHAPPAN 2 grossing around 1.25-1.50 crore nett and DUM LAGA KE HAISHA grossing around 1-1.25 crore nett.
The first day collections of AB TAK CHHAPPAN 2 may be better but it has no chance at the box office as the collections have come of close to 1400 screens. DUM LAGA KE HAISHA did show some improvement in the evening and despite its low start still has a chance if it can show that big improvement on the key Saturday.

BADLAPUR had a 75-80% fall on its second Friday compared to first Friday as it grossed around 1.50 crore nett. The hold is decent. The eight day total is around 37.75 crore nett.
The collections of BADLAPUR on day eight were slightly better than both the new releases AB TAK CHHAPPAN 2 and DUM LAGA KE HAISHA on their respective first days. BADLAPUR should see big growth on second Saturday as it's a settled film and normally films which have a sustaining week one run show a big jump on Saturday.
BADLAPUR has chances of hitting that 25 crore share mark and becoming the first solid hit of the year but needs to get in a 10 crore nett plus week two.
