Revolver Rani-Kaanchi-Samrat poor; 2 States 83.29 cr in 2 weeks

REVOLVER RANI and KAANCHI fared badly in their respective first weeks. REVOLVER RANI grossed around 8.75 crore nett and KAANCHI around 3.5-3.75 crore nett.
Both the films could not do much over the weekdays as appreciation was not there. While a 2 STATES got benefit of a holiday on Thursday, the same did not apply to REVOLVER RANI and KAANCHI. The films are out of most theatres in week two and will hardly add any business.
The other release of last week, SAMRAT & CO, collected very poorly with first week collections likely to come in below 1.50 crore nett.

2 STATES grossed a very good 24.84 crore nett in week two taking its two week
total to around 83.29 crore nett. The second week collections are the highest of
the year beating JAI HO at around 21.50 crore nett and QUEEN at 20 crore nett.The film was again very steady on the weekdays and got advantage of a holiday on Thursday. The elections going on at various places over the week also helped..
The third week will decide if it can go over 100 crore nett or even challenge the figure of JAI HO which is biggest grosser of the year till date. The film will probably still be the top Hindi film this week despite being in its third week.
2 States has a better Tuesday than Monday in Week 2

2 STATES had better collections on its second Tuesday than Monday with a
10% increase in business. The collections for the film over the first
five days in its second week are as follows.
Saturday - 5,15,00,000
Sunday - 6,15,00,000
Monday - 2,20,00,000
Tuesday - 2,40,00,000
TOTAL - 19,10,00,000
The second week has gone over 19 crore in five days and should go to around 23 crore nett for the week.

2 STATES grossed 2.20 crore nett on its second Monday taking
its business to 75.20 crore nett and becoming the second highest
grosser of the year till date after JAI HO.
The film will probably stay steady over the weekdays like it did in
the first week and have two week business in the 81 crore nett range.
It remains to be seen if it can hit the 100 crore nett mark or even
challenge JAI HO as the biggest grosser of 2014.
Similar box office stories over the last couple of years like BARFI and BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG were extraordinary in week three which enabled them to go comfortably over the 100 crore nett mark. 2 STATES will be on 81 crore nett after two weeks and both BARFI and BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG were also in the 81 crore nett range, give or take 50 lakhs.

The films which record low collections over the weekend tend to show this trend. The films are not really going anywhere as REVOLVER RANI will have a week of less than 9 crore nett while KAANCHI may record figures of around 3.75 crore nett.
The results this week have been similar to the results a few weeks back when DISHKIYAOON, O TERI and YOUNGISTAAN released and emerged disasters at the box office..

2 STATES collected a very good 14.50 crore nett over its second weekend which is slightly better than JAI HO which is the highest second weekend grosser of the year, before 2 STATES, with around 14 crore nett.
The ten day figure of 2 STATES is 73 crore nett approx and the film has a shot at a lifetime total of 100 crore nett with the third week being the key. The second week figures of JAI HO were around 21.50 crore nett. So, 2 STATES should surpass the figure and earn around 81-82 crore nett in two weeks.

2 States collects 58.45 cr in Week 1; might cross 100 cr

2 STATES had an excellent first week of around 58.45 crore as the weekdays were
rock steady. The Monday to Thursday period saw each recording business between
the 5-6 crore nett mark which meant the four days collected similar numbers.
The first week figures are similar to GUNDAY which had the second highest
first week total of the year after JAI HO. The weekday figures were rock steady
across all circuits which means a strong hold in week two is on the cards.
The second Friday will be affected slightly by new releases but the Saturday
should see huge gains and a good numbers throughout the rest of the week.

The film will show a huge jump on Saturday as the drop on Friday from Thursday was mainly due to the three new releases that have released in nearly 3000 screens across India. Still the collections of 2 STATES was more than the three films combined total.
2 STATES has a shot at the 100 crore nett mark although it will depend on what happens in week three and four. the 100 crore mark is not the same as a few years back as business has gone up and then there are films whose totals get inflated to show a 100 crore. But for a film like 2 STATES a century will be a big achievement and it has a chance on being a genuine 100 crore grosser.
