After her stint as an intimidating ISI agent in the Emmy Award-winning terrorism drama Homeland, Nimrat Kaur is gearing up to play a lawyer in the upcoming biopic on former cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin, helmed by Tony D'souza.

According to a source, The Lunchbox actress has been in talks with Ekta Kapoor's production house for the past few months and has finally given her nod to the role.

"While the rest of the characters in the film are inspired by real-life people, this is a completely fictitious character. It's not a lengthy part but comes at a crucial juncture and the makers were looking for a strong actor to play the role. Nimrat's acceptance was important as the film goes on the floors on May 1," the source added. Meanwhile, the hunt for an actress to play Sangeeta Bijlani is on and should be locked in a week's time. Emraan Hashmi plays Azhar while Prachi Desai plays his first wife, Naureen.
