Kamal Haasan, who was to fly to London early today for an Indian film festival where he was being honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award, has been hospitalised. The Chennai-based superstar injured his right leg after slipping and falling off his office stairs on Wednesday night. A source close to the actor told us, “Kamal sir was immediately rushed to the hospital as the fall twisted his ankle severely, and thus fracturing the leg. He has been strictly asked to rest till his injury heals.“ After being kept under observation in ICU for a day, Haasan was shifted to a special ward. He was scheduled to begin shooting for his trilingual from July 29 in Vishakhapatnam. But everything has been put on hold now and will be rescheduled after he gets home.

Back from the first schedule of his upcoming comedy-adventure Sabash Naidu in the US, Kamal Haasan fractured his right leg after he fell down the stairs of his Alwarpet office in Chennai late at night on Wednesday.

He was admitted to the Apollo Hospital on Greams Road where he underwent a minor surgery.

And while sources at the hospital stated that his condition is stable, it will take a couple of weeks for the actor-filmmaker to recover fully, which stands to bring his work commitments to a grinding halt.

Haasan was slated to attend the London Indian Film Festival, which goes on from July 14 to July 24. Furthermore, shooting for Sabash Naidu was scheduled to resume in Hyderabad shortly.

The Tamil-Telugu-Hindi trilingual has Haasan in the titular role while also featuring Ramya Krishnan and daughter, Shruti Haasan.

Younger daughter, Akshara, who made her acting debut with R Balki's Shamitabh in 2014, is an assistant director on the project.

Haasan reportedly took over the directorial reins of the film after T K Rajeev Kumar took ill.
